HEADS UP... Disney just changed the EMH schedule for July all the way thru Dec...

This is pretty SORRY of Disney!! I'm 11 days away and they have only 1 late EMH at MK! We have all planned and planned and planned some more due to all the new changes and now they see fit to make us plan some more!!!!!:furious:

I sent an email- and was basically told that most people who come to disney do not plan far in advance. A very few people will plan 4-5 months in advance.

Then why was I unable to get ohana dinner on my arrival day? BS!

That sucks. I know another poster said he is there 10 days in July and no late night emh at mk. That's crazy.

I am 13 days away from my 10 day July trip with everything planned and Disney just officially outed our family of any late EMH at MK... thats right the only day with late EMH the entire time I am there is the night I am flying home. Not to mention, by moving AK EMH to Sunday Morning when we attend church, they outed me of those as well. I also looked a trip we have scheduled in early Dec and by these new changes they have outed us of any late EMH at MK then as well. Thanks Disney for making my Orlando Vacation Destination Decision a lot easier.... Darkside here we come!

This sucks because my kids were really looking forward to evening EMH @ MK because we are night owls. It was the deciding factor in choosing to stay on property but now there isn't a single MK evening during our stay. And now its to late for me to switch any plans around since we leave in 2 weeks.

I'm sure there are truths to that, but Disney should not change at the last minute for people that do. This does not affect my next trip (just waterparks) and technically my next one is much further out. But for that one, due to the various moving components (a large family of 12) it could have a huge impact if they up and change 4-5 months out. I am only looking at 2 tough ADRs but that is besides the point. IF I make an ADR 180+ out I expect to be able to use it and not have to change it because Disney changed the schedule.

Can I just say thank you OP!!! I can imagine us arriving in November (for which I have already made reservations) and thinking I was all set just to find out that my days were now off? Who checks to see if EMH have changed? I never have.

I could not change my Cali Grill but was able to switch a couple of other restaurants to make the new EMH work for us. Without park hoppers, I had no choice. I vocalized my complaint with the dining reservationist who did remind me that at the end of making reservations, they do indicate that park hours are subject to change. But I have never seen them change days and under 180 days out. That is crazy and I cannot imagine the horror that people will encounter when they arrive without the notification of the change. Again, thank you!!! You have saved my family from what could have been a Disney nightmare.

Now I just have to pray that they don't switch EMH back!! :worship:

They change hours a few weeks before every December trip we have made. Always messes with days we thought we were doing a pre-park opening breakfast. And there is angst from many on that very issue.

BUT. I have never seen them take hours away. So not cool.

I'm like many others here, stayed up late to make my fp+ at 1 am 60 days out and now it's all in the tank. We were counting on Sunday, Aug. 17 as our evening MK and have our fp+ set up accordingly. Now with the change, we get no evening EMH at MK. :sad2:

I'm so curious why they're hellbent on taking away benefits from on-site guests. I guess they're happy with the current occupancy rate and don't want it any higher? First the reduction in evening EMH to 2 hours from 3, and now they're severely limiting EMH. For us, staying onsite has always been about three things: location, location, location, but once you get away from the Deluxes that are close to the MK and Epcot, I'm not sure how much appeal the other onsite hotels have to justify the expense of staying there without added benefits.

EMH changed for July and early August too, which is less than 60 days out. So the extra days you get for being an on-site customer is now irrelevant for those guests.

OK, so we need to amend my statement to 10 days instead of 60. LOL.

I was kinda being facetious in my prior statement. Disney should never decrease the park hours or the EMH days once they are posted, they should only increase them so people have only positives to say about it. Instead they end up with threads like this where people are bashing them.

Thanks, that means I have an opportunity to hop over to DHS and get some evening photos :goodvibes

This is about money plain and simple. Either they're saving money by not staying open, or are planning on adding more of those hard ticket events to make more money.

I do kinda miss e-ticket nights.

Face it - Disney can continue to pull these shenanigans because for every party that cancels a trip or a hotel reservation, there will always be someone else there to fill it. Until attendance and revenue start to drop, nothing will change. We all keep going back because, despite their shortcomings, Disney is still magical. But right now, they have no incentive to listen to their customers, period. That is, until the evil empire down the road takes a big bite out of their money pie.

It's time to embrace the new normal - have a magical day - or don't, we don't give a crap.

Disney should do whatever's best for business because that's what they are. They suck up to their customers enough. If they think a park is going to be dead, it's dumb to keep it open extra hours. If it's not changing day-of then I see no reason (or right) to complain.

OK, they how about they come out with a schedule at 180 days that only shows the bare minimum for operational hours. Then as they see attendance rising they can start adding hours. Nobody is going to complain about Disney adding hours, but they sure as heck will when they are cut. Seems like a pretty easy thing to do.

Seems like a pretty dumb thing to do. Schedules change all the time and most of it isn't because they just decided to poke a button for fun and see what the randomizer comes up with. At the bottom of the calendar it even says "operating hours are subject to change". That's all they need to do.

No one said they weren't allowed to do it. They can do whatever they want, obviously.

However, since they've joined forces with the US Military and come up with a plan of attack on how guests need to plan a vacation, they shouldn't be pulling this crap.

Do they change EMH nights all the time? Or have they historically been the same for quite a while?

If this a permanent change done in order to reduce EMH nights (which has been a rumor for quite some time), it's probably like ripping a band-aid off. They did it all now, annoyed a small (in the big picture) amount of guests, and all the new guests that are going to be booking in the next few months won't even notice.

It's annoying to those of us going in the time frame, but we'd be considered collateral damage.

That reminds me of my recent Southwest flight. At the end of the safety announcements, the joking flight attendent said "now sit back and relax, or sit forward and be tense, we don't care we already have your money".
