HEADS UP... Disney just changed the EMH schedule for July all the way thru Dec...

Ok I KNEW I wasn't crazy! I was looking at park hours last week for our trip in October and there was DEFINITELY evening EMH the night of our arrival at MK so I arranged an early dinner/late lunch for that reason. But when I checked today it was moved to Saturday! Thanks for the heads up.

What the heck Disney!!

Silver lining perhaps?

Maybe someone will get SO enraged over the changed EMH that they will cancel their December trip entirely and free up a coveted BCV studio on Dec. 23rd. Or, dare I say, a VWL studio for the 22nd-24th.

I should post this news on the DVC forum...just to warn them of course...

Bit annoyed as it means we have to change a couple of nights on our Dec trip, tend to plan a dinner at Monorail resort before going over to the Mk for evening EMH.

Nice use of the Anchorman gif jtowntoflorida :rotfl2:

Thanks for the heads-up to OP and all who have added helpful information and ideas. ;)

I think disney is trying to accommodate more general tourists... If your vacation plans have been harmed, I would suggest you respectfully write to them constructively sharing your perspective as a well-informed, repeat disney vacationer. Let them know how their changes are harmful to the loyal repeat guest. That's what I will do if the December changes tear up and spit out my vacation plans for which I've already made ADRs.
I know it's crazy frustrating and it's unfair that we need to know everywhere we will be at 180+ and disney doesn't. We can choose to help them improve the new reality or not...

Wow.. they really killed the staying on site perk of EMH for my trip in October. I was arriving Saturday for the specific reason of EMH Sunday night.

Not happy about cancelling the MK Sunday EMH :furious: The two Saturdays our trip encompasses are both travel days. In the past, we always did MK on Sunday and Friday nights because of the EMH, now looks like we lost them both.
At least MK stays open later in the summer, I imagine these changes are worse for people going when the park closes early. I'm glad we didn't make a bunch of ADRs, feel bad for those having to alter their plans because of these changes.

Also would like to apologize to the OP and other DISers. I should not have instigated and will do my best to refrain from doing so in the future.

OP - thanks for the heads up. Fortunately for me, the change didn't hurt me but I do feel for those that are scrambling to change plans. I understand Disney is a business and businesses need to make money. Just stinks the changes are so soon that if affects people's plans.

Thanks OP for posting this. I had heard rumblings, but this confirmation is helpful.

For us, it only really impacted one day of our upcoming November vacation. So I swapped an MK day for a (shhh!) Universal day. I think I have to change a few ADRs, but that's it. I have to scramble a bit, but I'm in a better boat than the July folks.

I can see some executive making this decision without realizing the bombs he was setting off in some people's lives.

My guess is that percentage of guests that will be perturbed by this is small enough in the grand scheme of things that it was dwarfed by whatever perceived benefit Disney is anticipating from these changes.

Back again. Just realized not only do we not have a PM EMH MK day, but we also lost our AM AK day. We were counting on that AM AK day because we leave late Monday afternoon. I'm completely bummed now. Onsite perk turned out not to be a perk for us at all.

This is not good for me, because we usually stay over at the Darkside and I had to plead to stay onsite this time and EMH was one of my main selling points.

Not even reading all of this-I can say that's horse carp.

All for FP+ but if planning is part of it, they should limit changes to over the 60 day window. ADR's can even be scheduled according to EMH. So maybe even 180 days.

They should only be able to add more hours under 60 days IMO.

Wow. I guess I dodged a bullet - I am one of those obsessive planners, and EMH is part of my equation. But the changes don't seem to have affected our trip. Unless, of course, they change again.

And oh boy would I have been angry. The People Who Know at Disney have to be aware that fixing FP+ windows at 60 days, and ADRs at 180, etc, etc, will ENSURE that many guests will book as much as they can as soon as they can. I do not get the logic of switching stuff up within those time frames.

I don't post a lot, but I follow many of these threads closely. There's something out there - something Disney has long tried to ignore, perhaps because of pride, stubbornness, or just plain arrogance. But there's a shadow creeping, closer and closer, and that's the Darkside. I might be just a little worried bit if I were them.

They have Dole Whips at the new Menchies in City Walk so I would say yes.

Yeah, that's not a Dole Whip. We have a Menchie's in my town here in Michigan and although their "Dole Whip" is pineappley, it is most certainly not the same. :-)
