HEADS UP... Disney just changed the EMH schedule for July all the way thru Dec...

Ok. Now I'm usually pretty laid back and can go with flow as far as changes, but we will be in disney for my sons fifth birthday which is Nov 18. I had a full day planned with the expectation of park hopping from HS to MK after our chef mickeys dinner since MK had evening EMH, aaannndd now they don't:( Its not like this is some huge deal breaker but I was so excited we would be able to stay in the park later on his actual birthday. Now I'm debating if we should go to MK at all that night. We probably won't be out of dinner till 7 and the park closes at 9. That was really the only day we HAD to have the park hoppers and now I'm thinking I should just save my money and not get them...

Disney can be spontaneous. Guests have to plan months in advance. Welcome to the new Disney!

Remember, this is the new "magic THEIR way" campaign.

I'm supposed to be paying checks, doing laundry, running the kids where they need to be and I wasn't even going to LOOK at anything WDW related until next week. Now I'm going to have to redo some stuff.

I have BOG AND the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party booked for Aug 2nd. I'm going to have to talk to the DD's and see if they want to go back to the hotel after the Afternoon Tea Party (my idea, they aren't thrilled). Sat. AM is still the recommended park.

July 26 I have evening FP+ booked and Narcoosee's booked. I'll have to talk to the DH and see what he wants to do.

I avoid EMH parks so I planned my MK days for Saturdays.

This has been a planning nightmare. I'm done with trip 1 and 2 and moving on to trip 3 and 4 and every single one I've had serious rule and procedure changes. Part of the fun of a Disney trip has always been the planning but this hasn't been fun at all.

Seems like a slap in the face to its guests, particularly after the "lock it in" promo they were running to promote FP+. They want you to lock it on even though they're free to play it fast and loose...and HOW, pray tell, are we expected to lock it in if IT keeps changing??

Bad form Disney

This is terrible, they basically removed every evening magical hours from my trip besides DHS. We had MK and Epcot planned out, now it's ruined.

This is why I a adamant that Disney changes their ADR time from 180 to 45 days for resort/package buyers and 35 for rest .. It still puts everyone on the same playing ground..as with the 180 and 180+10 and while we are at it change the FP also closer to actual travel/attending dates.

By doing this you are getting most likely those actually coming as the 45 day is the package pay off date. Most people now more what their plans are this close as opposed to 180 days. this way Disney has more room to make changes and not upset set plans, as there aren't any.

What is the benefit of 180 vs. 45 if EVERYONE had the same restrictions??

I would prefer to wait longer to make ADRs, I am forced to make mine so early as all the good ones are gone if I dont.

Are you saying they changed the EMH to Saturday? If they did that, then I would move heaven and Earth to do the MK on a different day. Saturdays without EMH are bad enough. EMH without it being a Saturday are bad enough. Put them together and :faint:.

I have to admit once they added the 4th FP, I started thinking maybe we should give WDW a chance again this year. Now I'm glad we decided to head west again and give WDW one more year to work the bugs out. But this is an entire new species of bug!

Hey we really shouldn't be surprised here. This comes from the group who changes the monorail schedule at the drop of a hat and doesn't inform the monorail resort guests about not having service til after they get there. They now have made so if you want a chance at headliners with short waits you need to book weeks or months in advance. Now they pull this stunt so your preplanning is for naught and now you get to try to change things on a glitchy system that could lead to hours on the phone with IT. If you complain on facebook about it this company will remove your feedback. You can't make this stuff up!:rotfl2:

I think the only thing that would get them to stop doing this sort of thing is for people to cancel on-site reservations and move off-site.

Great idea!

ETA: but then would have to push back FP+. Not sure I want to be booking FPs if I don't know where and when I'm eating. Maybe ADRs at 70 days and FPs still at 60. Even at 70 days out I would think there shouldn't be major changes to emh.

Changes didn't effect me at all because I didn't make plans on going to WDW until yesterday.

What's the lesson learned? Don't book anything more than 60 days out.

This is looking like more of a reality for me. We are driving in so we have no use for ME. We actually lost 3 overall "magical hour days" from our trip so the actual benefit of staying on site has drastically reduced.

It's funny that there was so much speculation that Disney might cut back on EMH offerings in exchange for more FP slots to get people to stay onsite. Who knew they would do it without offering any more FP advantage than the 60 day booking window???

EMH changed for July and early August too, which is less than 60 days out. So the extra days you get for being an on-site customer is now irrelevant for those guests.

I wonder how many others will also find this to be the case. And act on it.

Maybe none. Maybe the aura is too strong.

shocked they are making these changes so late, frustrating for planners!

I sent an email- and was basically told that most people who come to disney do not plan far in advance. A very few people will plan 4-5 months in advance.
