HEADS UP... Disney just changed the EMH schedule for July all the way thru Dec...

Dole whips are gross...just not my thing. Now the ice cream cookie sandwich...THAT I'm all about! I am pretty sure I saw them being served at the new ice cream shop in Diagon Alley. That would be awesome! Of course, DHS still has the monopoloy on the carrot cake cookie.

Thanks to the OP for the heads up. Yup, that fouls up my plans . . .. I can't understand why we book ADR's at 180 days, FP+ at 60, and then at 54 days they decide to change hours all around. This is something that MANY find frustrating.

On one hand it seems that Disney is pushing people to make, and commit to plans further and further in advance, but they won't make and commit to their hours far enough in advance to make it possible. This is something that Disney needs to really address one way or another, either plan their park hours 180 days out, and plan enough hours from the beginning to cover big crowds, and just accept the fact that sometimes they will have empty parks, OR . .. plan their hours just 50 days out, and have ADR's and FP+ start at 30 days so that everyone making those plans has accurate park hours to plan from.

Question: I'd like to send an email about this, so for those of you who have already, who exactly should I email?

Silver lining perhaps?

Maybe someone will get SO enraged over the changed EMH that they will cancel their December trip entirely and free up a coveted BCV studio on Dec. 23rd. Or, dare I say, a VWL studio for the 22nd-24th.

I should post this news on the DVC forum...just to warn them of course...

You're so giving. :)

Disney should never decrease the park hours or the EMH days once they are posted, they should only increase them so people have only positives to say about it. Instead they end up with threads like this where people are bashing them.

Aha, but sometimes when they add hours they mess up plans as well. Our very very first day at MK was supposed to start with a PRE-opening breakfast at Crystal Palace. I did not know that Disney would add hours; that's not something I'd ever seen happen at DLR. Walked up to the gate before opening, to find people inside. Not just people for ADRs, but normal, regular, lines. They'd added an hour. Since this was before the new regime of cancelling ADRs, if this had been a nuclear family trip we would have just cancelled it and moved on...but there were 9 of us and that makes decisions harder. Went to the ADR, 9 people eating takes a long time, put us behind every moment of that day.

So it's not just complaints about taking away hours that happen.....

However, since they've joined forces with the US Military and come up with a plan of attack on how guests need to plan a vacation, they shouldn't be pulling this crap.

So true. THEY are now the ones telling us to plan so far in advance. So they don't get to tell us "no one plans that far in advance" in response to a complaint. Well, they can do it, but if I'm the one writing in, they then get a second email....

Yeah, that's not a Dole Whip. We have a Menchie's in my town here in Michigan and although their "Dole Whip" is pineappley, it is most certainly not the same. :-)

Seems like it IS a Dole Whip.

So July 4th was previously evening Epcot EMH. It seems now maybe it is evening EMH at HS? Where is the up-to-date schedule?

I guess I could leave Epcot after IllumiNations and head over to DHS until 2am...

good strategy to get people to buy park hoppers, who perfectly had their trip planned to avoid forking out the extra dough..

Now some people need to re-think and possible have to move ( give up at this point ) some ADRs if you dont have a park hopper to maximize park hours.

We are not the hopping type as we only pick one park per day and make an ADR accordingly and go only from early afternoon to close. I need to check my whole plan now. For our family the almost 300 to hop is just too much money for that luxury.

OT a bit, but honestly, it's the little things like this that are keeping us from going to WDW next year. This in itself isn't a huge deal for us in terms of our plans, though I think it is absolutely absurd that for 10 days in July there isn't 1 EMH evening at the Magic Kingdom, but it's the point of the matter. It's a cutback, which we're sick of, but it's also very insulting to those of us who have played by these stupid rules Disney has set up. Their whole campaign about FP+ is about planning ahead and maximizing your fun (which we know is crap). But then to go and throw a wrench in the entire thing is just insult to injury.

Nothing surprises me anymore about WDW. Our not going isn't going to mean babka in the long run, but it makes me feel better to be spending my money someplace else, even if it is at Disneyland.:upsidedow

This is pretty SORRY of Disney!! I'm 11 days away and they have only 1 late EMH at MK! We have all planned and planned and planned some more due to all the new changes and now they see fit to make us plan some more!!!!!:furious:

Same here, we are 9 days out, and I couldn't believe only 1 day

Wow. That will affect a lot of people. We were planning AK for Aug 23 so I guess we can hop to MK after dinner but not everyone has that option.

That's our plan for that day :thumbsup2

I was already planning to hop over for fireworks since the 24th is our pool day, so with the addition of EMH - pixiedust:

But for all you that had your plans spoiled - I'm sooooo sorry! If this had gone the other way for us, I would be LIVID!!!

Just want to add an ugh! We were planning on using the EMH on 9/7 for a few extra rides on Buzz Lightyear. We can't even change our plan if we want to now, as there are no EMH for the Magic Kingdom during our 9/5-9/12 stay.

Plans go on and we will have fun, but this combined with the reduced monorail hours in the morning is really reducing my pre-trip planning happiness.

So, Disney is reducing the number of emhs at the mk? Just in July? Or is it a trend that runs through to December?

I know everything is "subject to change" but to change the hours at the last minute is just plain wrong!

To us yes, to Disney, not so much. They will do what's best for the business. They are not concerned about changing things up even after all the planning they have imposed on us with ADR's, FP+ and matching these to their original posted park hours.

This messes up our day big time because we were counting on EMH. We don't have hoppers and I don't plan on adding them. (Actually my family has annual passes but the rest of our crowd has MYW base tickets.) We already have an ADR in place. At this point, we are just going with the flow rather than trying to switch our days, FP's and other ADR's around which can prove to be way more stressful.

Well, I sent off a message. This affects our trip negatively. I made our selections for Fastpass plus at the 60 day mark and had to change them yesterday upon hearing the news.

We are long time Disney-goers. Many years we have gone 2-3 times.

We are not fans of all the changes that have come in the last 5-10 years. For us, Fastpass plus is not an improvement. It's the straw that has broken the camel's back.

We have one last trip on the books. We will go and have fun, but we are not planning anything further. I laugh when I see people write "we aren't going to Disney again, just disney cruise." or "we're going to Disneyland instead!"

Disney is Disney folks. I think I am Disney-ed out after all these years. Changing EMH parks and park hours after people have made extensive plans (due to the new fast pass plus system!) is just poor form on Disney's part.

FWIW, I do plan on shooting Disney an email to express my family's concerns and how their last minute changes effects our "Planned" vacation which was implemented by them. Will they care, I don't know but it will make me feel better to let them know.

In all the years we've been going to Disney, we have never, ever, experienced a mess like this past year. Planning a vacation should not be a 2nd job where you have to be on top of changes 24/7 and if you're not, upon your arrival you may be faced with a monkey wrench thrown into your plans.

Next year, if we venture down to Florida, we may stay on property as we are DVC owners, but we will probably venture out and enjoy other things to do.

Not everyone who declares they are changing to a cruise or Disneyland is doing it to punish Disney. They are just doing what is best for their family.

I am usually a vey flexible person when it comes to Disney, but this has me really sad. We leave in less than 2 weeks, and I have had ADR's and FP's booked around park hours. We are doing a split stay between BWV and BLT, and booked BLT so we could simply walk back after EMH without having to wait for a bus. We will be at WDW from July 8-15, and now there is not one late night at MK during our entire stay. I had dinner at Narcoossee's booked the night of EMH thinking that we would have the rest of the night in the park; I'm going to cancel that now. Not to mention the FP's I DIDN'T book thinking that I would be able to do them during EMH. Not cool, Disney.

Tinks, I hope if nothing else, that writing to Disney has made you feel better. I plan to do the same!
