HBO's Game of Thrones: Season 4

Even thought I've read all of the books long ago, this episode stressed me out. Had a terrible time unwinding afterwards.

I do wish they could have stuck with the book a bit more. I really think things like the stairs would have explained how so few Night's Watchmen were able to put up any kind of resistance to the massive hordes of Wildlings.

After reading the books I thought this episode was very anti-climatic. It was much more intense in the books.

So, one of the 4 deaths I was thinking were coming up happened last night (was a female...won't give away anymore in case folks haven't watched yet). The other 3 I am thinking about can't all happen in 1 episode....I don't think. Sadly, I think they won't cover the big one this season. I did think of more deaths that are around this same time too. I am guessing most of it is in next season...I really don't remember the timeline in the books and it didn't help that 2 of the books were simultaneously occurring (just different characters).

Last night was kind of dull for me. Missed some of the characters we didn't see.

I'm also thinking they won't cover the 3 deaths I'm thinking of in the season finale. But they could work up to the major one and it would be the cliff-hanger for this season.

Yes. I think so too. Can't wait but then the season will be over :sad2:

Me too. And I wonder now how they'll handle the aftermath, with so much of the battle itself being significantly different from the books.

I can't wait for next week even though it is the finale. I started reading the books a few weeks ago because I wanted to know what happens next faster than the show is revealing it, so I'm not too worried about the off season - I still have two more books to finish while I'm waiting for the show to return!

Ahh...who doesn't love a good battle scene! I really liked how they did the giants.

Pretty sure I know how (or at least how I'd like) the season finale is going to end. I don't think it's going to be with a death at all...nope. In fact, I think it will be quite the opposite. Muwahahahaha!

I just started reading book 1, what book is the show up to now

The show doesn't follow exactly and the timelines seem a bit different from one to the other, but the major events of the story to this point are all contained within the first 3 books.

Not a fan of Sunday's episode. I'm rooting for a great season finale.

Then there's that! :worship:

Yep, I think that's exactly where they're going to end it. I think we're going to get a look, a look in very low lighting & the screen will fade to black & the credits will roll. And then the internet, the twittersphere, whatever, is going to explode.

That's exactly what I thought, but it's all so muddied in my head now with all the time that's passed & changes the show has made. DD told me that the capture of Moat Caillin from a week ago is actually in book five, which she's trying to work through right now. She thought the show was in book three also & had a major head swim watching that & felt like she had just read it recently. She said she went back & looked & even most of the diaglogue matched the book.

Books four & five did a real number on my ability to keep anything or anyone straight going forward.

I feel the same! So, I am not sure what we'll see in the last episode. I am thinking you and Jenasis have it right though...bummer that's as far as we'll get.

I just started book one last night. I'm like a 1/5 way through already. It's exactly like the first episode so I like it.:rotfl:

I think watching the show before reading the books is helping me visualize who is who better.

The first book is comparatively simple and straighforward compared to the rest. I had read all four, suffered the eternity for book five to come out, dove in & thought, whoo, it has been a long time, guess I forgot more than I realized -- wait, what, who -- did I miss a book? Books four & five are parallel in time & traverse much new territory/characters, characters with tricky backgrounds & names that throw you off into confusion w/ somebody's bannerman who may or may not have been mentioned previously who may or may not have switched allegiance who worships this god or those gods or -- whoa, I have a headache.

Oh, my gosh! I just remembered *another* death that could occur in the season finale beyond the one that happened this past week.

I loved this episode. No, it isn't how I pictured it at all, but it was great. And sad. Poor Pip and Grenn. :( That was a change from the books, but seeing as how the giant slayer was written out, we knew someone we cared about would go. At least Dolorous Ed was spared!

But yes, it was stressful. But really well-done, and I'm usually not a big battle fan.

Deaths... the one I said I was happy about but some people might find it sad happened this episode. I could not stand that character and their repeated tag phrase in the books. Drove me crazy.

They have included events from books 3, 4 and 5 in the past two seasons. The producers said before last season that they planned to do this.

I do think the season will be wrapped up, iykwim.

If anyone wants to know the deaths I've concluded *could* happen in the finale, I will post them in white

DELETED LIST

swandiver, I don't want to quote you in case your spoiler shows up when quoted, but have you read all of the books? I'm curious because of two names you've listed.

I'm torn whether one big death will happen this season or next. I kind of thought they would hold it to next, but something in the previews leads me to believe it must happen this week.

I still think the final image we see is going to shock a great deal of viewers. I expect it will be very difficult to make out what it is we're seeing & just about when most people are beginning to wonder if that's what it really is the screen will go dark & the credits will roll. I fully expect the screen cap will be around the internet like wildfire. Unfortunately for us (poor, poor babies will be on vacation) we won't be home to see the episode for a week & I hope we don't get accidentally spoiled -- more important for DH since he's not this far into the books yet.

I understand there will be a pop up GoT shop in Vegas next week, so we were thinking of checking it out if there's time. Now I'm afraid we could ruin the fun of the episode if we do.

I agree on your conclusion about the finale.

And I'm sure hoping my "spoilers" in white DON'T show up -- so no one quote me, okay??????

I've read all the books and if I recall, those are for whom the bell tolls.
