Has anyone successfully book a trip to Hawaii using their DVC points? I am trying to book sontheing for next summer and have questions. If this is the wrong forum, please direct me to the right one. thank you.

One of the easier resorts to book is the Kona Coast on the Big Island. It's quite nice, although it's about a block's walk across a golf course to the beach. This resort is not "in stock" for an instant trade, but it often connects after you've waited only a few weeks.

He is a wealth on info on Hawaii and exchanges.

I tried a few weeks ago to see what was available in Hawaii and there was nothing at the time I inquired. I asked for any location in Hawaii and didn't limit myself to any specific loaction or island. I didn't continue with the request so maybe something has become available since then. I know it is not the best use of points - but I have the points and I am not comfortable with renting my points out and paying cash for the room. Having never done that before I am a bit timid.

Good luck,

We just did Hawaii a few weeks ago on points. We did not trade out through II, but used our points through the concierge collection on Maui and on the big island. We loved the resort on the big island so much we are thinking about going back next year. Not so thrilled about the resort in Maui and probably would not do that again.

We just went to Oahu in July and there wasnt exchange in the area we were willing to stay in, 2 bedroom was 260pts for a week, I sold 160 pts. (1st time, and it was an very easy process) of this years points, which gave me a big chunk towards our 9 days in Oahu, we did get two rooms, family of 5. We stayed at Turtle Bay North Shore and then moved to Waikiki for the last 5 nights. If you need more info. on the sale of pts you can email me.

Did you like Turtle Bay? Someone I work with is going there over Thanksgiving and is hoping its nice. Where did you stay in Waikiki? We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian and loved it - we only stayed a couple of days and should have stayed longer.

I used points to book the Mauna Lani from the Concierge Collection several years ago. No problem booking there, and we had a fabulous stay. It was a splurge with points, but I am so glad we did it. The points required to stay there have really gone up since then. We'd all LOVE to go back, but it probably won't happen unless the Point Fairy leaves a bunch of points in my Christmas stocking. :wizard:
