I'm only staying Sugarloaf, but this post got me excited! :goodvibes

mousemommy Dont consider SL an only...lol..its really very nice! Although I think that I am among the minority here..I like the SL lounge..it has a warm cozy feel to it...as I have said before ..like a small bistro...the food area...tables and CM desk are set up well...and the lounge being in the lobby sure makes it convenient to grab a drink or snack while coming or going... :goodvibes

Subbing!

Welcome! :)

trishadono I second..third..fouth that lounge time in RPC :cloud9: Wasnt sure if you were aware of the different types of deluxe kings available .. Im sure you will enjoy whatever you are assigned...

MickeyNut Good morning...:flower3:

Ok...a little embarrassed, but after checking the common abbreviation list, I can't find RPC. :bitelip:

I looooooove DIS but I sure do struggle with the abbreviations. I even printed off a cheat sheet, but it isn't helping in this case.

Look forward to finding out the answer. Thanks!

RPC is short for Royal Palm Concierge - the club level in the main building. My dream resort!!

I'm only staying Sugarloaf, but this post got me excited! :goodvibes

Even though my next trip is RPC I do have SL booked for New Years Day:goodvibes

I love the location of SL for families. It is so easy to grab stuff and head to room or pool. Either view is great too. Marina or pool so all good :thumbsup2

Don't say " only SL" CL is awesome at any resort so do the happy dance:cheer2:

Not sure what I loved the most last SL trip. Home made potato chips, wine, trifle, ham at breakfast, mini cupcakes, grilled asparagus , choc covered strawberries, more wine....

Ooh now I am getting excited for trip too:goodvibes

I really love the location of the lounge - close to the pool. :goodvibes We are not picky people, I think we will be fine. How does the Sugarloaf lounge space compare to the YC? Does anyone know?

I am excited too! And I have not heard any "nursing home" comments from DH in like 4 days!!! :rotfl2:

Yet another Poly construction refugee here, switching to the Grand for my November birthday trip. I'm thinking of booking a lagoon view and wonder if anyone has a building or location recommendation for me. I've always wanted to stay at the Grand, especially during the winter holiday time, so am excited to have a new experience.

Thanks to everyone for all the enthusiasm and helpful tips!

You will love the GF ::yes::. For our GV stay, we were in Big Pine Key and loved it. We had a nice view of the courtyard pool. With that said, there are some less desirable views from BPK as they look directly at the pool house, but nothing absolutely horrible, IMO....and the building is in a great location ;).

Thank you so very much for your helpful information!
I am so excited about our first stay at GF and another wonderful trip to my favorite place on earth!

Two great links trishadono :thumbsup2 A picture ..or video.. is worth a thousand words...

mousemommy Wish I knew the answer to the lounge comparisons myself...we are trying a split stay next trip..YC/GF... (and have not ever stayed at the YC) I always have a little anxiety of the unknown... :o and tend to stick with the tried and true.. Good that your DH seems to be warming to the idea of staying at the GF...

circusgirl I think that there are very nice lagoon views in Big Pine and Boca Chica... Enjoy celebrating your birthday at the GF! :goodvibes

JoBird, that is disgusting. I honestly think you need to say something. it is NOT ok. i was just telling dh during our stay that i am a bit leery of SL (vs. RPC) because there have been reports on here of some of the guests being, shall we say, not on their best behavior, and this just reinforces it. let me tell you, even at BC CL this past trip (and BC CL is several notches below GF), they CONSISTENTLY told guests to go put on a cover up or out shoes on. if BC does it, GF most certainly should. I would go to the desk tonight or tomorrow and tell them your concerns and see if it improves. you have nothing to lose. i am really angry for you! you deserve to enjoy your vacation to the fullest!
Agreed!! BTW Happy bleated birthday. I read your review and pixie dust, but I don't think I ever replied..sorry :goodvibes We also saw the bare foot patrol at AKL CL  I think it's everywhere occasionally..shame on the CMs for not saying anything.

Next to WL..SL was my favorite. I have never stayed in RPC though (they overbooked our Deluxe RPC King room and we were walked to YC CL) The offerings at GF are by far the bestest!!!!

Sugarloaf didn't feel as squished at YC. It was crowded in the morning but everyone got a seat, and trifle and scones...YUM. It's also super close to the main building. Candace it is great!:cloud9:

Did I mention we will be there in 91 days :hyper:

:worship: to all of your changes today!!! I hope SL will stick for ya, I'd love to hear a recent review from you. :goodvibes

That's good to know about the lounge being a bit bigger than YC. Though, we found YC to be an ok size...

91 days!!! :banana::dance3::banana:

I can't believe I'm going to be down there in 23 days!!!! (at POFQ). I haven't even started packing yet!!! :scared1:

If this was a family trip packing would have been done at 60 days out! :rotfl2:

Boca Chica Lagoon views have great views of the Contemporary, and some of the Polynesian and some of the MK (and with a little luck the castle!) My parents had one right off the lobby on the right and we could kinda sorta see the castle through the trees on the left! (Great view of space mountain though!)

pas130 Thanks for the info and the comparisons too! :thumbsup2 Another resort we have never tried is WL... but I always read great things about their CL...maybe some day??? :confused3

Looks like we will be at the GF at the same time...such a nice time of year to visit....:lovestruc

Butterfly girl--
Sorry!!! Been in Epcot all day!

Tonight there was a card on turndown saying that the Courtyard Pool will be closed "through the early week of September 8".
The other pool is working, however.

It has really bummed me out because it was closed when we were here in December as well. Hopefully you will stay long enough to see it open.

One thing to excite you--- the crowds are non existent!! We were in Epcot today, AK yesterday and never waited to ride a thing. It's been great!

Also- everyone will be happy to know that no Shirtless Wonders were seen in the lounge today. Everyone was properly attired!!

Good Evening
Just a quick update--

The courtyard pool is still closed. They have drained it and some suits were standing around today, gesturing and looking a bit like they aren't sure what is going on. Haven't heard when it will reopen.

In other news---
In the lounge in SL tonight there were two men in wet bathing suits and no shirts eating and no cast member said anything to them. The chairs where they sat were completely wet by the time they left. :(
Also multiple people barefoot and kids running around w wet bathing suits and no cover ups.
Never seen it like this before. Not sure what is going on or why no one says anything to them...
Sorry about your SL experience...Eeeewwwwwww that is disgusting..I sat on a wet chair in RPC, looked dry but it wasn't I told one of the fab lounge ladies and she removed the chair and apologized profusely..Coverups and/or pants need to be worn and shoes too thats just nasty

ahcupcake I cant believe that you have not stayed at the YC..I thought you had tried out all of the deluxes...we are doing a split next trip..my DH is not happy about this...he is a GF guy! LOL...I'll let you know what I think... :)
Nope, I had it booked but a room opened up at the GF so I had my trusty TA switch, haven't stayed at WL either both of them are on my list

ewwww:crazy2:!!! How are the parks? Could I impose on you for a picture from the beach around the waterfall pool/etc? Just wondering how it looks now? What do you think?
A friend of mine was just, she came home last night, said parks were empty..Saw a pick taken at noon at Liberty Tree Tavern and it was dead. Don't remember what she said was the longest wait was

Hi ahcupcake . No girls only trip is in the works yet...I have to get to my family trip in December first :goodvibes. I thought the same as Blue that you had stayed at the YC before. Hope things are well with you :).
Rats :( Can't wait to hear about your epic Christmas trip..Nope like I replied to Blue I had it booked then switched to the GF where we were majorly :wizard:

RPC stands for Royal Palm Club..Agree some of the abbreviations are a little hard to figure out

I'm thinking Boca Chica & Big Pine Key for lagoons views..November is a great time to go..Happy early Birthday

I think someone said a pipe burst so they had to drain the pool to fix it. Fingers crossed that it is open by the time you arrive
