Have you looked at the Itunes top 100 songs lately?

I'm not surprised about the increase of download purchases. I liked a lot of MJ's stuff from the 80's. I wasn't a huge of fan of some of his 90's stuff. I have also noticed tons of new comments on YouTube videos too.

I can believe it. Many younger people who only knew MJ as the weird, plastic surgery obsessed baby dangler are now checking out his music. While I am not a huge fan, I did go on YouTube last night and show my 10 year old DD some classic videos- Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, etc- so she could "get" why there was so much coverage of his death. She didn't realize it even was the same Michael from seeing his post-surgeries face compared to the (realtively) unaltered MJ of the early 80's.

I don't currently own any MJ music, but I might download some now- Off the Wall and Thriller, probably.

Some younger people already knew about his music. DS10 LOVES Micahel Jackson. He knows (well, knew until all the talk at school Friday) nothing about MJs various problems and just knows the music and videos. This is a kids who does not want a DS or any other kind of game system but is obcessed with music and has an iPOD full of songs from the 50s through current as well as one video (Thriller). His favourite album ever is Disc one of the Essential Michael Jackson.
It was late night here when the announcement of MJs death came so I had to tell him about it first thing Friday morning. I have to share what happened Friday at his school because I thought it was so cool. There was an end of the year party Friday afternoon and his teacher was telling us moms about it. The kids were all talking about MJ and most just knew about his weirdness and Rio was trying to tell them about his awesome music and dancing and videos. The teacher had her iPOD at school and some of the songs on it and she played some for the class. Then Rio was telling them all about the Thriller video and how it is like a little movie and how the dance is so recognaizeable. It ended up with the teacher playing the song on her iPOD and Rio doing the dance for everyone and then teaching them all part of it. I have a feeling most of those kids went home and googled to watch the actual video.

My 17 year old - just a couple of years ago - didn't believe the MJ was a black man. I showed her then pictures of him when he was younger.

Today, she & I watched the video linked at top of the boards here to Captain EO. DH saw it in DL when MJ was at his height - I remember the huge lines and what a big deal it was then.

Anyone else remember that attraction at the parks?

I remember Captain Eo! It was my favourite thing at WDW on my first trip there. I think I was 16.:goodvibes

My DS put "Off The Wall" (my fav) and "Thriller"(my no. 2) on his request list at the library so he can download them on his I-POD. He is no. 51 on the waitlist.:rolleyes1

I have always liked MJ's music since the 70's and I have enjoyed getting to see the all the music videos after all these years I just wish it didn't have to be due to such a sad reason. It's too bad that Disney couldn't show Captain EO on TV for his fans....just once. After all, it's on UTube.
