Hi, I am Lynn and I am a Lounge Lizard wannabe.

Actually, I will be at the Poly July/Aug at CL.

I have a question. I am planning on sending some things and having some shopping done for some gifts for the room upon arrival. Does the staff shop for the baskets/containers to "present" the gifts in? Or should I be sending those too?

Thanks again for making a former "lurker" feel welcome!

I don't know the answer, but thought I'd bump up this question, I didn't see it get answered! :wave2:

Steffy - :cheer2: :thewave: :cheer2: Passed the 200-day mark!!!!!:jumping1:

VAgal - ~ * ~ * ~ * for you, I know you'll get that suite!!!:teeth:

Happy Memorial Day, everybody, have a great day!!!:sunny:

BT - Hhhmmmmm.... "the Suite Bug" - NOPE, I really don't mind if I get "bitten" by it - LOL! ;) :p

We have Artist Pointe booked for our cruise night, too! Are we sending each other subliminal messages somehow :rotfl:? They can pick you up at the WL marina so you don't have to go to the GF's marina to catch your ride. :teeth: I'm finding them to be VERY accommodating to my requests.

I can't wait to see DH do this :earseek: when he sees "it."

disneyholic family ! I think I'd go with BWI since you've been to YC & would like to try others out. I'd also suggest the garden suite @ BWI if you don't have that many in your party. It's a king size bed in the loft with a fold out sofa downstairs. These rooms are just beautiful. Now, with these rooms you do have a little bit of a walk to the lounge. However, IMO the atmosphere out weighs the distance to the lounge.

Steffy - FINALLY under 200 days! :hyper:

Thanks for the bump, kacsmom!

Sometimes it's hard to catch all the new questions!

cajunfan...no need to send IPO the baskets, they'll put together a gift basket for you, with whatever you'd like in it!

At the Dolphin last year, I pre-ordered a small gocery cart full of goodies! cost me about $85, but the boys LOVED it!
Plus, I now use that cart at my store for a clearance "basket"!;)

Also, someone mentioned a Princess dress....
hmmmm....never requested that, but it woudn't hurt to ask!
i haven't had one request that couldn't be met.

And remember.....CL CMs will ship stuff back home for you, too!
::yes::

BT-will they ship stuff home - like out of the country (to Canada/UK) etc?

Approx. cost?

Lynn, last Oct. Stephanie in the IPO shopped for me. I wanted to have surprises for my 11 month old grandaughter to commemorate her first trip. Stephanie was great! She found a really cute plush of Pooh on a rocking horse. There was a place for them to monogram Madyson's name and the date.
i am going to miss Stephanie this year for my planning since she has left the planning office to go back to the BWI. So, at least I will see her there.

They shipped all of our stuff with UPS, so I don't see why not.

KerryCM...WOW! What great info!
Never had a gift monogrammed.
Of course I never thought to ask! What a neat idea!
Hmmmm.....:scratchin

We just got back yesterday from our YC CL adventure, and it was AMAZING! I will post a full report later (have to go start the dreaded laundry) And my husband has blessedly said that concierge is the only way to go now!!

Hope you all have a great day, don't forget to remember all of those who have and do serve!

Psherman37

Thanks for all the answers about the gifts...that is one thing that I can cross off my "to-do" list.

I am so excited about my trip...my son says that I am obsessed with Disney! (He would really believe that if he knew how much time I spend on the DIS! )

Hope everyone is having a Happy Memorial Day! After a very stormy night, the day here has turned out beautifully.

Thanks again for all the info!

Lynn

Hi LL's:teeth: I trust eveyone is having a great holiday weekend. I wish I could have gone to DC to see the new WWll memorial... anyone there?

I have a couple of last minute questions. We'll be arriving at the Poly on Sunday (still a secret:teeth: ). Since we will be staying concierge, they will take us over to the Hawaii building in a little cart, right? I am worried about how much to tip for the luggage? I am certain that I have overpacked and I want to show my appreciation to the bell hop. Will the bell hop drive us over? I know my DH will want to park the car himself. Will that be a problem?

My other question is kinda silly... If a person (me) wants to stay concierge at all the resorts, how do you choose which one next? I am looking forward to getting bitten by the suite bug:smooth: I haven't even stayed concierge yet, and already I'm dreaming of a suite. Good thing I know how to save money::yes:: ::yes::

Another post to praise the AKL concierge staff. Our trip isn't until August but am just so impressed with the staff already.

E-mailed them about snacks aboard the Grand 1 cruise (decided to go with the Glass Slipper) and received a reply less than 30 minutes later that it was all taken care of.

Oh, am I getting spoiled already!

No, I'm not at AKL, but I did take a trip to the Toledo Zoo today and got a mini taste of Africa! The zoo has a new Africa exhibit and, while it in no way compares to Disney's AK, there are hints of Disney throughout the new exhibit. It made us nostalgic for the real thing. . .just a little taste of things to come in NINE days! Woohoo. . . My son woke up this a.m. and came to me in the kitchen to do the single digit dance. Very cute out of a 16 year old. :hyper:

BT: Sadly we will be leaving on Saturday and won't be at Polynesian on Father's Day. For some unknown reason, we decided to leave on Saturday evening this year rather than flying in the a.m. on Sunday as we typically do. Either way--I wouldn't be there on Father's Day this year. We were last year though. I guess we figured if we left Saturday late day, we could get back home before it was really late AND have all day Sunday to veg before that dreaded work day resumes on Monday.

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend--we were very busy with graduation, parade, and all of the grads' open houses. To really end our busy weekend, our daughter is at softball practice this evening and has cheer practice beginning tomorrow. The poor kids just got out of school Friday and she'll be right back there for cheerleading. Oh well, it keeps them off the streets. :) Just jokin'. . .it really just keeps her off the computer. ;)

Enjoy the evening goodies. . .BTW, is anyone else receiving e-mail notification of new posts on this thread? I know I'm not.

When you arrive at the Polynesian, speak to bell services and let them know you are staying concierge. They will then contact the lounge and let them know you've arrived. IF your room is ready you and your luggage will be transported (after someone has already unloaded it all onto a cart and been tipped) to the lounge in the golf cart (most likely not the same cart that your luggage was first unloaded onto). If your room is NOT ready, your luggage will be stored and you will be transported to Hawaii for check-in. The tip factor is totally up to you and most people recommend $1-$2 per bag/parcel.

If your husband wants to self park, that would give you the element of suprise. You could then privately speak to your bell services person advising him of your concierge stay. Your husband wouldn't hear the conversation and would be surprised when he returned from car parking to find himself being taken to Hawaii for private check-in.

As to choosing your next CL stay--we've usually done a split to experience the others. Spending a few days at the end of your stay in a different resort lets you know if it would be one that appeals to you. Then, if you really LOVE the new resort, your next trip could be booked longer at that hotel with a short stop at the end of that visit at your next choice. We've done quite a few and for us, Polynesian is the favorite. That's just us--everyone has a personal favorite that just clicks with their family. You'll find your niche. ::yes::

THANKS for all your continued support and well wishes. Still no news...6 days to go now. :(

Steffy.... You're under the 200 day mark. I know how long you've been waiting for this moment...Yippee! :hyper:

BambiTamby.... You asked for Father's Day dinner suggestions at a monorail resort....Have you eaten at California Grill at CR? It's FABULOUS!!!! (Food and view) What do you think? :wave2:

A BIG HELLO TO ALL THOSE WHO ARE NEW TO THE THREAD!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

PSherman37...WELCOME BACK to the LOUNGE!!!! :wave2:
Looking forward to your YC CL report!::yes::

fam4jc...Tess answered both of your questions very well!
How do I choose the next one?
I take into account what we want to do, who's with us, and pretty much what's available for our dates.

And, trying different CLs is not only fun, but educational!;)

Tess said it best...."You'll find your niche."::yes::

Even though I consider the Poly and AKL CLs my favorites, I LOVE staying at the other resorts CLs!

I'm just one of those that likes "apples AND oranges"!:sunny:

PRaffen...hehehehe! Yep! Those IPO CMs will get you spoiled before you step foot into the CL.;)

mom_rules...I went thru all of our room charges
(and cc charges) today and I did not see any additional charges for UPS shipping from our March trip.
When we left something at YC CL last August in our room, one of the CL CMs shipped it back to us....no charge either.
In fact, I've gone thru the last five CL room invoices, and have found no shipping charges.

Just wanted to be sure before I answered that part of your question!:wave2:

In fact, we took dad there last time he went with us.
(must ask mom if he really liked it)
Any other suggestions from you other lizards?

No, the bell hops don't usually drive your vehicle over - they unload your car, put the luggage on a cart, and they or another bellman takes you to your room. If the person who unloads your car is not the same who take you to your room - I would just give him $3 - 5. As for the one who take you to your room, the standard runs from $0.75 per bag to $1.50 a bag. Get out your calculators and figure from there. It can get rather hefty if you have a lot of bags.......

NO, it's not silly at all! In fact, I made it my own personal Disney mission to stay at all the CL at all the Deluxe resorts so I could compare. Previously I had just stayed at GF and thought I was spoiled. But no ladies and gentlemen, The Boardwalk Inn CL BLEW GF out of the park! Phenomenal service, fabulous people, great amenities, calming conversations after hectic days! So, your next stop for CL should be BWI. Yacht & Beach 2nd, GF 3rd.

Have A GREAT TIME

Thanks Bambi - it's good to be back and reviewing the posts. I've been here....but not all there. I dislocated both my knees soon after returning from my trip in Feb. and this is the first chance I've been able to sit at a computer.

When you go to BWI in Sept - please give my very best to Jackie, Robin and Terri - they are the greatest CL CMs ever!
