Have you been "Bitten" by the Concierge "Bug"? aka The LIZARD LOUNGE!

sojo- as BT always says, just keep calling... there are always last minute cancellations, changed dates, etc. It's worth a shot.

I know kids are allowed in the lounge but are they "welcome" if you know what I mean.
Hi briannesmom and welcome! The kids are most welcome in the lounge! The Poly ( and I would bet the other resorts, too, incl. BC) has a long low counter with treats to appeal especially to the kids, as well as a small couch and club chairs. The TV is usually tuned to cartoons. Our nieces and nephew have loved hanging in the lounge when we've taken them. The niece who went in Jan. referred to the lounge as the "living room" and has told her Mom they have to stay at the kind of hotel with a living room from now on. So just be prepared - you're going to create more concierge addicts! Remember - there's no going back!

briannesmom - Amy - We are booked BC Concierge for August. Concierge is so much more than food. If you have not done so I would encourage you to contact them today.

Phone: 1-407-934-1448
email: wdw.ybbw.concierge@disney.com

The concierge staff has been so helpful to us already. We faxed them our priority seating (PS) requests, and at 90 days before our visit, they began filling them. Each day I get an email detailing what they booked. They got us the Princess Breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table on the day we wanted. We never had to do the early morning calling. Actually between all of the PSs, I figure we saved long distance phone charges and our valuable time (we both work).

Even before that, they gave me suggestions of things my kids might like. We changed some of our plans based on what we were told.

Since you will be celebrating your DD's birthday, make sure you mention that. They will probably have a number of ideas to make it special. The staff told me that they can go shopping for you (with your , credit card!) and have some "treats" waiting in the room at check-in, or any day when you return from the parks.

I would not worry about having kids in the lounge. This is Disney after all. I would assume that as long as they are not playing football in the lounge, :rotfl: they would be most welcome. Actually looking at the pictures, there is a kids corner in the lounge with table and chairs and a TV showing, what else, Disney.

By the way - Welcome to the lounge!

Stacilee here, and I have something to tell you all here because you make me feel safe, and I feel like I can trust you all.

I am married to a lounge lizard.

what's worse I not sure, but,

I think I may be one too.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I typed that right OUTLOUD. Without hesitation! It must be true then. That's alright, I was expecting this.

I feel so much better now! thanks!

Seriously, our 6 yr old dd had her tonsils out yesterday. She had quite a rough time of it. I had not slept the night before her surgery because I was so stressed about her. By the time it was finally over yesterday I was as wiped out as she was.
I really think they should write the parents some sort of prescription too don't you think.

Last night I was at the absolute pits. I was so tired. Guess what happened? The phone rang!

Three possibilities here:

1) a political "survey"

2) the kidney foundation (truck in your area)

3) MIL

I was wrong on all 3 guesses.

It was "Dan" from the AKL CL on the line an with his soft, happy voice he reminded me that we were 30 DAYS out (!!!). He asked if he could help me with any plans etc and waited patiently while I snuck to the bedroom to talk to him (so the kids wouldn't hear, and one little thing I didn't want DH to hear either) and by the time I finished the call I was feeling miraculously better.
I told him that I have been reading these boards here for a long time and finally became a "member" recently and he laughed and said he has a really good friend here as well. I wish I could remember who it was.
I was so grateful for his call! Hearing that I was at the 30 mark was what got me through the night! Thank you Dan! He was great,

Just what the doctor ordered!

If I could do a counter I would.
Just had to share because I knew that all of you would understand.
Looking forward to meeting Dan in person , in well, 29 days now!

briannesmom - Absolutely, kids are "welcome" in the lounge!! They have their own little lounge area, and their own snacks, too. I haven't stayed BC CL, and each concierge has their own particular foods, but at AKL and the Poly they had crustless PB&J, M&M's, Gummies, cookies, milk, lemonade, water, pop, iced tea, etc. At breakfast, the offerings are mostly pastries, muffins, bagels, oatmeal. At both these lounges, children were there, enjoying their stay, the same as the adults.

stacilee - Hi, welcome to the lounge!!:wave2: I would tell you there is a 12-step program, but we really don't want to be cured!;) Isn't it great how a little PD from WDW can snap you right out of a funk?! That's why I love it so!::yes:: BTW, if you want a counter, go to the Technical Support board, it's on the front page left-hand side, all the way down near the bottom.:teeth:

annamonte-Thanks for the coffee-it is very good this morning and I really needed it!!

Good morning Lizards!

Well I booked a stretch limo yesterday as a surprise for my family-I can just imagine their faces when the see what we will be travelling in!

Have a great day!

 Good morning lizards!
and...

LIZARD LOUNGE
stacilee and briannesmom!!!!
:bounce: :bounce: </font></center>

briannesmom....here's some pics from our stay at BC CL this last March....click here!

YC/BC CLs have a wonderful spread for all the picky eaters.
Also on my webshots is a YC CL picture album.
On that one, you'll see the hours that the CL will be open.

Like the others said, no need to worry about the kiddos!
In fact, I feel they really cater to the kids....little table and chairs, a TV on at all times with Disney movies playing, buffet tables just for them......they will LOVE it and you will too!
Imagine the convenience of not having to go downstairs and get these things, wait in line to pay, and eat or take them all the way back to your room to eat!

Like GoofyJoofy said...Concierge is so much more than food.
Use their IPO (Itinerary Planning services) to get those CRT and specialty cruise reservations!::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

In the PM....I will add that YC/BC have some hot entrees, ie, mac n cheese, fish and chips, beef tips and noodles, chicken casserole, wings, lasagna,....and mom_rules reported having stone crab one night at the YC CL!!!!:earseek:

stacilee...Wonder who Dan was referring to here on these boards?;) :p
But, those AKL CL CMs are fantastic! You are going to have such a wonderful time there!:sunny:

Tess...for the kids.....yeah, right, that's my story , too...OK?:rolleyes1
hehehehhee!

lindeyspol....
I gave up worrying about what the cm's thought of all my calls--or the mountain of copies of reservation confirmations coming in my mailbox

OMG! TOO funny! :rotfl:
Yep! You hit that one right on the head!

annamonte...thanks for the coffee! Now, I'm just going to add a little dash of hazelnut and cream and I've put out some fabulously HUGE blueberry and apple-pecan muffins!
I just love that the CLs have sooo many condiments out to please every taste!
Beats running down to the food courts to get everything and either eat it there or lug it back to the room.

no thank you, m'am!:wave2:
I'll just go to the CL and get what I want and chat with the other wonderful guests and have a relaxing vacation!

mom_rules...a stretch limo! Like DS would say....SWEET! :cool2:

Fellow Lounge Lizard here, too! DH & I are both CL addicts. He just loves being spoiled...and, yeah, so do I! :teeth:

This will be my first WDW conceirge experience. We stayed CL at the Grand Californian & just loved it. We are now hooked!

I got my paperwork from the IPO right before we left for vacation & now that we're back, I'm ready to get to work on it! I saw someone had posted the email addy for BC CL - can I just email them everything I'd put on the sheet they sent me? Or do I have to send the sheet back? Anyone know?

Look forward to talking w/ & getting to know y'all. It's always nice to have someone that can relate to your obsessions! LOL

Annette_VA - Love that picture! Adorable!!::yes:: I always email to IPO - if you email and ask for a form, they will email that same form back for you to fill out!:teeth:

WELCOME STACILEE, BRIANNESMOM & ANNETTE_VA!!! Glad you found the lounge.

Annette - I'm just on the other side of Richmond. "Small world" after all, huh?

I hope I can nab the YS @ WL still for our last night. PLEASE send some PD my way, guys! I still haven't called yet since my favorite little vultures have been buzzing around me all day today so I haven't had a chance to make that call. I'm surprised that one of them isn't peeking around the corner at this moment - LOL! I guess the trip is so close they aren't letting me out of their sight. If they only knew 1/2 of what I was up to. Spoke to soon, here comes one of them now......

Okay, back to this post - yes, requesting just a little PD shower this way for them to disappear long enough for me to call & that one of the "Y" suites are available.

I've set out the cordials on the table so please help yourself. ;) I hope you didn't mind that I fixed Baileys on the rocks for myself while I wait for you guys to return. :teeth:

I hope everyone's weekend is going great. Big room wave to all you lizards out there!

Yes, we had stone crab the first night we were there I think and there was fish one night, steak and potato another night , an awesome chicken pot pie and the mac and cheese was great-my picky picky son lived on mac and cheese and PB&J sandwiches and rice Krispie treats (as well as cereal and fruit).

I love the YC CL-hope we like BWI CL as much!!

I think I'll join everyone in the lounge. Just let me fix myself a kalua and cream...

We've been back from WDW exactly one week now and yesterday booked airfare for November! Saw a really great fare and it would be a shame not to take advanage of it. Already have APs which will expire 11/16 so we'll get another 7 days use before then.

Now just have to decide where we want to be having breakfast in 5 months in WDW.

AKL is calling my name but so many others we haven't tried out yet...BW, Poly. Will be reading this thread and trying to make my decision...

fam4jc, Welcome to the lounge! I have stayed CL at the Poly twice, and I had a great trip both times. It's a great CL with lots of delicious food offerings, and a wonderful, creative chef named Chef Dick. One one of my visits I saw him teaching kids how to make animals out of fruit in the lounge. The Polynesian itself is wonderful too--our favorite restaurants at the World are at the Poly (Kona Cafe and 'Ohana). It has such a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere that really adds to a WDW trip. Plus, the convenience of the monorail is fantastic. :)

Annette_VA, Welcome to the lounge as well! I just love the picture in your signature--how cute!

It's official! I'm proudly sporting my new countdown timer! :Pinkbounc

We will be splitting our stay between the AKL CL and the Poly CL this November/December, and I am so excited! I have always wanted to try CL at the AKL (especially for the Sunrise Safari), and now I can look forward to it. :) We will be spending the first half of our trip at the AKL then moving over to the Poly, which I have enjoyed twice in the past. I am excited for my DH to stay at the Poly with me, because I think he will really like it a lot.

Now I've just got to get started thinking about some special things we could do on this trip. I am thinking about contacting the GF Bakery to have a small version of our wedding cake made for us. We actually didn't get to have any cake on our wedding day other than the one bite we fed each other, and we didn't keep any for our 1st anniversary (just not very practical when not at home). I have pictures of the cake, and they might have it still on file too. I wonder if the concierge CMs would be able to help me arrange that. I was also thinking a Wishes fireworks cruise would be a lot of fun. Oh boy, I just LOVE planning! :)

Hi, I am Lynn and I am a Lounge Lizard wannabe.

Actually, I will be at the Poly July/Aug at CL.

BT....the new lounge is beautiful....espcially since it is filled with so many wonderful people!

Woody...I will certainly say a prayer for you...I hope that the next few days pass quickly for you.

Thanks to everyone here in the lounge. I have learned so much from you folks!

Mom_Rules...will you let us know who you are using for the limo service? I am considering getting one as a surprise for us too! (I know that this is crazy, but I have to do a grocery stop....the limo thing will be interesting)

I have a question. I am planning on sending some things and having some shopping done for some gifts for the room upon arrival. Does the staff shop for the baskets/containers to "present" the gifts in? Or should I be sending those too?

Thanks again for making a former "lurker" feel welcome!

Hi everybody!:wave2: Welcome to all new lizards and former lurkers!
Guess what I did all day? Packed!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
I can't believe it is actually time to pack. Guess what? The kids didn't even notice. :earseek: So far it's still a surprise, I don't know if I will be able to hold out until Friday morning. We leave Thursday night for a hotel in Pittsburgh, then they will catch our flight Friday morning. I could either tell them Thursday when they get home from school, or Friday when we get up for the airport. I haven't decided. They wouldn't be suspicious about our going and staying in a hotel since we take off all the time for weekend trips, but they have NO IDEA about Disney.
I also upgraded our ride to a limo, using Fl Tours, and getting a grocery stop. I just can't handle toting all the baby food, diapers, etc through the airport.
I know that we have talked before about having the concierge staff leave gifts in the room for kids, but I have kind of a specific question. Has anyone ever had them get a Cindy gown? I need to get one on the sly because we have breakfast at the castle the morning after we arrive. Thanks for all your help, support, advice, everything!
Woody--I've been thinking of you, hope everything is ok. Tammy- you too!:wave2:

Our first concierge visit was "for the children". How nice it is to have all those drinks and snacks available when the little tots wanted to nosh. The building was so close to the pools and transportation so their poor little piggies wouldn't be too sore by the end of the day. Our little darlings would be treated like the prince and princess we know them to be. We were certain we'd go back to staying "cheap" when they were old enough to walk without a stroller.

My conversion experience with CL was when I was 6 months pregnant with baby #3. I wanted to take DD on a special trip before she became a big sister again. Left wild boy DS at home with DH and took DD with a friend to LVC Poly. I needed the CL being pregnant and traveling with a toddler:teeth: . Well then I just had to go back to Disney before the wild boy turned 3. Then I started reading the original "bitten" thread. It took me a few days to get through the then 60 pages and by the time I was done I had the brillant idea to take a trip this fall with AP's and then use those passes on the already fall 05 trip before baby #3 turns 3. I too have thoughts that when the kids are older I can do without CL but we'll just have to see about that.

Fred-even though I love the Poly I welcome your comments. I don't really care about the hot tub and actually like the separate buildings though I do think its confusing til you get familuar with the place. I have only been twice and off season so I've been lucky to avoid pushy guests. Thanks too for your review of Tiffany Town Car.

Briannesmom-kids are very welcome. We celebrated my DS's 3rd birthday at Disney in Jan. We had a party at CP. I had CL order a cake for us and it was great! I had brought Pooh party hats from home.

Stacilee-wishing your DD a quick recovery-you'll both enjoy a great vacation.

mom_rules-which limo did you book with?

Elizabeth-sounds like a great trip. Love the cake idea!

Goodferry-did you pack a nightlight? Good luck with the secret.

Gotta run I think 3 year old is up-its past midnight.....

Well, I booked Happy Limo-they offer a grocery stop too but we don't need it. The emails I received and the phone conversations I've had with them have been very friendly and professional. I was impressed and will let you know the actual service I receive when I return.
(I'm waiting for my confirmation to arrive-and will let you know if it is as was quoted!)

Good morning LLs!:teeth: What a wonderful morning... coffee, good friends, a comfy place to sit...

We will be checking into the poly cl in 7 days!!:hyper: :hyper: I want to ask your advice. We will be coming from St. Augustine. I know we will arrive early, probably around lunchtime. I was thinking of packing a small duffle with suits, etc just to do the pool while we wait for our room. Will we have a nice place to change?

My prayer list is growing with names from these boards. Prayer is soooo powerful::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

HI lounge lizards- just wondering if I could join and would it be acceptable to wear my new TOT housecoat to the lounge in the mornings. It is so comfy I hate to take it off:eek:

Also wanted to know if any of you veterans have stayed club level at the HRH. We have 4 nights booked there for our next trip and I was contemplating concierge at WL for our last 4 but opted to rent points from a fellow dis'er for a 2 bedroom instead. If you have tried the HRH any info would be great.

On a side note we tried Jimmy at golden limos last trip and he was great. Only took the limo one way to OLCC and the cost was $85

fam4jc it's a good possibility your room will be ready when you arrive - we usually get in around 10:30-11 AM and our room has been ready every time. If not, there is a large clean bathroom on the 3rd floor of Hawaii (Poly concierge) where you could change. This is where we have changed on our last evening after checking out to avoid the wet bathrooms by the pool.
