We need ideas for an upcoming trip for our fur baby. He has never been boarded and I do not want to board him anywhere that is a cage. I would rather do the pet hotel type places. We have a couple local ones too.

just curious on others experiences here...thanks

ps...our dog is our baby.. and we usually have family watch him in our house...so this is a HUGE ordeal for us. ;)

NC Beast and I had our lab mixed dog, Jessie, at the PetsHotel in Raleigh several years ago and they were pretty good, but pricey. They charged for snacks and play times. We would used them again only if our favorite kennel is unvailable (cheaper and no charges for playtime).

We've used our PetSmart Pet Hotel just a couple of times, and only when we were gone just one night. Your dog WILL be kept in a cage, but they'll provide a raised bed (for extra $) if you want. NC Belle is correct - they charge for every little thing, including extra play time. And I don't know how your PetSmart is, but ours doesn't have an outdoor run - the dogs are kept indoors all the time. We have 2 large dogs (50+ lbs each), and they need much more exercise than they'd get indoors.

Our petsmart hotel advertises atrium ROOMS...not cages. You can get a suite too. they look like they are small small rooms...but the whole idea is no cage. so this attracted us to them. Yes I noticed no outside play...do other places do outside play?
