Has anyone used Gold Mobility for scooter rental?

I usually get a text from the driver when he is 30-45 minutes away for pickup.

I fly out early so I turn the scooter in the night before I leave. Gives me time to pack and chill at the resort. I know others prefer to be going till the last minute!

Doesn't work if you need the scooter to get to resort entrance when you leave.

Being able to hand the key to a bellhoop on your way out is a big plus. A reason to consider a resort like the Dolphin if you want to use Gold. A reason to consider Scotterbug if you're staying at a WDW resort

Yup, that's me! I ride the scooter to the nearest bench to where Gold Mobility will meet me (usually a bench by bell services), transfer to the bench, then call for an Uber after GM leaves. Usually the rolling suitcase works similar to a walker to get me to the Uber when he/she arrives. On the last trip, I brought my actual walker, which helped.

How late does Gold pick up? Never mind, when trying to order, their form's selection drop down shows 6pm.

Sorry, I'm starting to worry about the prospect of Rain when we go in two weeks. On past trips in June we've encountered rain, even if it as a brief shower, at least once per day.

What should I have to cover the scooter with as a precaution to keep it dry while we are on rides and such?

Gold's provides one rain poncho and a control cover (which looks like a rain bonnet). I always take a couple extra ponchos to keep everything dry. Keep the controls dry is the most important thing, along with not driving thru any standing water. I also pack along a few clothes pins to keep everything in place. Typically the control cover goes on first, then a poncho on me, and if it is raining really hard I will put one over the seat back.

So clothes pins are best to hold poncho on it on when stationary? Could I use a bungie cord or the like?

Is it worth getting the rear basket? It says it adds 18 in in length. Does that impact riding the bus? I imagine it negatively impacts navigating ride queues and stores, am I correct?

No. Do not get a rear basket. It sticks out way too much and you may be required to remove it to use Disney transportation. Also, IMO skip the sun shade for the same reason. Bring an umbrella for sun. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081CGSR51

While Gold's typically gives you something to cover the controls, on my last trip, they were not packed and the delivery person did not have any. He was apologetic, but nothing he could do. We ended up just using a garbage bag. We stuck a couple in the "map holder" behind the seat and when we ran into rain and had to leave it out, just put the garbage bag over it and cinched it up. Worked like a charm and threw it away when we were done.

I bring an extra poncho or 2 to cover the scooter. I actually use chip clips to secure the poncho over the seat and around the scooter. I bring a few shower caps that I use to cover the basket and controls to keep those dry. For the basket, I usually also keep a plastic bag at the bottom to put anything in the basket in so things stay even drier. Works well for us.

shower caps work quite well, just ask for some from the front desk of your hotel.

We bring ponchos (Disney ones since they’re a bit sturdier) and we bring shower curtain liners that we cover the entire front basket and handles/tiller with. We attach them with large beach towel clips. When the shower passes or we take shelter inside, everything goes in a 2-gallon zip lock and stored in the seat pocket of the scooter. Once back at the hotel, we hang everything up to dry and pack for the next day.

Thank you all. I had always carried 2.5gallon zip bags to put our stuff in when it rains (they make great back pack liners), so I'll be sure to carry a few extra.

I have an extra poncho that has metal grommets and can be used as ground sheet or rain cover, so I'll bring clips for it too.

@elvispursley I like that shower curtain liner idea. It can be folded up and small to carry.

Just to follow up since I got back from my trip.

We were scheduled to land at 1:50pm and American Airlines had been moving the flight times leading up to the trip, so I selected a pickup of 3pm at the Contemporary. I received texts a few days before, confirming the time, however they said they'd be there at 2:30pm. Thankfully our luggage hit the conveyor first, and Mears Connect Express made it to the Contemporary about 5 minutes before Gold Mobility did. So no waiting around.

On the way home, rather than messing with having them pickup the morning we flew out, I selected 6pm pickup at All Star Movies (Split stay). Again, I got messages leading up, confirming pickup. They said they would be there at 5:30pm. They were. ??Thankfully?? I skipped going to the parks due to ear issues and was at the resort instead.

During the week it was pretty nice. I would not have been able to walk it all. I was able to navigate the queues. There were one or two where (like Pirates) the cast members directed me where to park it. The 3 Wheel was very maneuverable. I even found it pretty easy to park on the busses.

We did have rain. The cover they give is like a clear 8 gallon plastic trash bag that barely covers the controls. Just to be safe, the day it did rain hard in Animal Kingdom, as we saw the clouds thicken and turn black, I put a spare poncho over the controls, and I wore a poncho covering me and the seat as we beelined to Restaurantosaurus. We got there just as the heavy stuff started coming down! We got a snack and sat inside until it stopped.

I opted for the cooler bag for $9.99. We didn't use it. Instead we put our sun screen cans and umbrellas in the basket. We clipped our bags to the head rest post via carabiners and their shoulder straps.

I never ran out of power. One night I forgot to charge which i realized as we were leaving for Epcot and saw only 1 green bar. I plugged into an outlet in the Dreamer's Point seating area while we went on Guardians, and found an outlet next to our table while eating at Regal Eagle, and that was enough to get me through the day which was amazing.

I can't thank you all enough for your tips and information!

So glad to hear you had a good experience!
Thanks for fessing up about forgetting to charge one night-now I feel better, knowing it wasn't just me! But after forgetting, I was so scared at the MK the next morning that I cut my stay in the MK short and went back and charged for a while, even though I probably didn't need to. But I probably won't forget again, it was a memorable experience.

Not really an issue in ride queues or stores.

The rear basket is oversized for buses. You may have to remove it. The basket has a handle but removing it is.a pain.

You don't want it. Maybe if you're staying at a Crescent Lake resort and most of your park days ate DHS and EPCOT. Leave the basket in your room days you bus.

The rear basket is probably OK only if you choose the smallest scooter (I forget the name). But, as I found out the hard way, it's a no-go on the most common one (I think it's the Pride Victory). First time I used the Pride Victory, I tried to continue using the basket on the bus, and got stuck so that it took 2 people to practically drag me out (and since it took time, I had to endure lots of ugly stares from people). Then, I could barely fit in elevators. Since, the littlest scooter doesn't have the fan, USB port, super-comfortable chair, and a battery that doesn't last as long, you have to choose which you'd prefer. I chose to give up the basket.
