Has anyone used Gold Mobility for scooter rental?

I usually get a text from the driver when he is 30-45 minutes away for pickup.

I fly out early so I turn the scooter in the night before I leave. Gives me time to pack and chill at the resort. I know others prefer to be going till the last minute!

Doesn't work if you need the scooter to get to resort entrance when you leave.

Being able to hand the key to a bellhoop on your way out is a big plus. A reason to consider a resort like the Dolphin if you want to use Gold. A reason to consider Scotterbug if you're staying at a WDW resort

Yup, that's me! I ride the scooter to the nearest bench to where Gold Mobility will meet me (usually a bench by bell services), transfer to the bench, then call for an Uber after GM leaves. Usually the rolling suitcase works similar to a walker to get me to the Uber when he/she arrives. On the last trip, I brought my actual walker, which helped.

How late does Gold pick up? Never mind, when trying to order, their form's selection drop down shows 6pm.

Sorry, I'm starting to worry about the prospect of Rain when we go in two weeks. On past trips in June we've encountered rain, even if it as a brief shower, at least once per day.

What should I have to cover the scooter with as a precaution to keep it dry while we are on rides and such?

Gold's provides one rain poncho and a control cover (which looks like a rain bonnet). I always take a couple extra ponchos to keep everything dry. Keep the controls dry is the most important thing, along with not driving thru any standing water. I also pack along a few clothes pins to keep everything in place. Typically the control cover goes on first, then a poncho on me, and if it is raining really hard I will put one over the seat back.

So clothes pins are best to hold poncho on it on when stationary? Could I use a bungie cord or the like?

Is it worth getting the rear basket? It says it adds 18 in in length. Does that impact riding the bus? I imagine it negatively impacts navigating ride queues and stores, am I correct?

No. Do not get a rear basket. It sticks out way too much and you may be required to remove it to use Disney transportation. Also, IMO skip the sun shade for the same reason. Bring an umbrella for sun. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081CGSR51

While Gold's typically gives you something to cover the controls, on my last trip, they were not packed and the delivery person did not have any. He was apologetic, but nothing he could do. We ended up just using a garbage bag. We stuck a couple in the "map holder" behind the seat and when we ran into rain and had to leave it out, just put the garbage bag over it and cinched it up. Worked like a charm and threw it away when we were done.

I bring an extra poncho or 2 to cover the scooter. I actually use chip clips to secure the poncho over the seat and around the scooter. I bring a few shower caps that I use to cover the basket and controls to keep those dry. For the basket, I usually also keep a plastic bag at the bottom to put anything in the basket in so things stay even drier. Works well for us.
