My grandmother is 100% pure Cajun French, and ever since she can remember, her family "pocked" eggs at Easter time. So, ever since *I* can remember, we've pocked at her house every Easter.
The whole family does this: kids, grandparents, aunts, cousins, etc. Everyone starts out with about a dozen or so colored eggs in their baskets. Then we all go around and "pock" each other's eggs: one person is the pocker, one is the pockee. The pockee holds his/her egg, small end facing up. The pocker gently taps the small end of his egg against the small end of the pockee's egg. The person who's egg breaks first has to give up his egg to the person with the uncracked egg.
This goes on until there is one egg left...this egg is then the champion! The owner of this egg doesn't win anything but bragging rights, but in my family, that's a pretty big deal, lol.
We then hide the broken eggs for the kids to find.
I just assumed that this was a Cajun tradion, since I've never heard of anyone else doing this, but I could very well be wrong.
Does anyone else do this?
