Has Anyone Found Point Information for Treehouse Villas?

Sorry, seem to be having a durh moment - but are the Treehouse Villas a seperate resort, or a part of SSR? Trying to figure out if you would request a Treehouse Villa when you make your reservation?

Anyone have that information?

They were announced as part of SSR and some have mentioned being told they will be their own booking category. Most info is still not released.

My guess THV will be like studio, 1br, 2 br, gv, thv. Point levels for each and by season. I see them as like any other room size.

How will the THV effect the points chart? Aren't the total points on the chart "fixed" and cannot be added to or subtracted from? Can they add points because they are adding inventory? I thought I had it figured out, but now I am confused.:confused3 If they say that the THV are the same points as a 2BR, then I would assume they are just a different category (ala HH at OKW). BUT, if they are more than a 2BR, but less than a GV, wouldn't that change the point structure? :confused3 I think I am just having a big blonde moment...can someone clarify?

What I think is funny is that the Carousel section is TOO far, but THVs are "wanted"?

While I want to stay there, they are a LONG way from ANYTHING! LOL!

As soon as some folks figure out that it's more then a 5 minute walk, they may have cardiac arrest! (I mean that extra 0.05 miles at SSR right now is WAY too much to ask LOL!)

These are going to be "more points" to be sold and will be an add on category so they can "change" the point struture. These weren't in the current structure. You will probably get some offical legal document telling us what just happened and that the "members" :rotfl2: voted on it. (that would be the guy who works for Disney who gets to vote for us!);)

I've alsways found it funny that people complain about that. A vacation at WDW is all about the walking.

If they try to create a new point category for the Treehouses, I think they would have to send out amendments to the SSR docs, adding an additional point category (THV, alongside Studio, 1-BR, 2-BR, GV) to the point charts. This would, I think, have to be "voted" on at the annual meetings, but since DVD has all the voting proxies, it would be a done deal. Either that, or I suppose they could add the Treehouses into one of the existing point categories (2-BR ?) -- leaving the point categories unchanged -- but create another "booking" category (like they added the "near HH" booking category to OKW without a change in point structure). I wonder, however, if that might be a matter of some debate within DVD right now, which is why no additional point information has been released. :confused3

The easiest way would be to simply add the Treehouses as additional 2-BR units, fitting into that point category. That would make them impossible to book at the 7 month window -- I mean, if you normally booked a 2-BR and, for the same number of points, could book a Treehouse Villa instead, which would you do? And, in many ways, lumping the Treehouse Villas in with the 2-BR units doesn't reflect their value. But I don't think, by the same token, that you could equate the Treehouses with Grand Villas. I don't believe they can command those kind of points. So I suspect DVD will propose a new point category. Just my guess! :teacher:

I also wonder how the creation of a new category would impact ADA standings. Maybe one of the DISabilities folks could comment on that.

While I think the "right thing to do" is to put chair lifts or some other mechanism on a couple of the treehouses, Disney could be looking for a way to get around that. By classifying them as "Two Bedroom Villas", I'm guessing Disney could claim that they already have plenty of "Two Bedroom Villas" which are ADA compliant, and that they don't need to make modifications to the treehouses. :confused3

Could they already have added something like lifts to some of the units and not told us yet?

The ADA thing is what concerns me since well obviously I use a wheelchair. But I'd be willing to haul my butt up those steps to stay in one. Can you tell I  the idea of them?

I would think a classification of a "two bedroom" is not enough for Disney to escape ADA regs. After all, they currently have dedicated and lockoff two bedrooms going for the same point class. And I assure you they have equal numbers of fully accessible units in both room types.

But I expect we'll see maybe one fully accessible ADA THV, if any. There was some speculation that they could build a ramp like system connecting two units and sharing an accessible entry. They have the space and it is much more reliable than a lift system. I've used lifts before and they are notorious for breaking down when exposed to the elements. I'd hate to be the one stuck in it mid-flight.

By the way, if all we see is one fully ADA THV, I officially call DIBS! I'll inform you all of my intended travel dates so you can plan accordingly. I do share but if I find someone dissing it or messing it up, I'm coming to get you. :scared1: :)

By the way, as noted in my sig I'm off to Disney this weekend. Will be arriving in town Sunday night and staying 3 weeks. (Offsite a week, 3 days in BWV and 11 at SSR). I'll be doing lots of legwork and snooping. Promise I'll post anything I find.

Tis good to be a SSR owner these days!

I'm really excited by the THV's. Just a little iffy on whether they may feel 'dark' because of all the shade? Can anyone comment who has stayed there previously? Does it still feel like sunny Florida?

I didn't read all the posts so I apologize if this was brought up before.

I sure hope they've changed the way to get from the ground floor to the second (main) floor. In the original tree houses there was a very narrow sprial staircase that I could barely manage 20+ years ago.

Goofy's Apprentice - yes it was really dark at night (so dark that we were actually robbed - but there wasn't any security at all back then). We weren't around much during the day, so I can't comment on that.

I'm glad they're being brought back because I think younger families will enjoy them.

I think this is going to be set up the way it was before:

there will be a small lower level, which will probably be the small room w/ bunk beds. On the main floor will be the two bedrooms, two baths, and general living area/kitchen......plus a balcony.

Of course this is all speculation of how things used to be

The floorplans show that all living space is on the upper level, that is how they reduced the footprint over what had been used before.

The points are per "unit" which can be a collection of rooms. The overall points can't change for the units but they can add units and thus add or change points. This is the very concept of a phased resort.

It is a different discussion, IMO. The Carousel is further than the other similar sections at SSR without adding any benefit. No pool, no special views, etc. THV will offer something different and special to some people though probably not to my family. I'm sure we'll get the "it's too far" posts but IMO neither SSR or OKW is very conducive to life without a vehicle anyway.
