Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Went on a shopping mission yesterday in search of rub-on transfers and/or temporary tattoos. Our mission took us to JoAnn Fabrics, Toys R Us, Hobby Lobby...yesterday's search was fruitless. Will continue to search online....and maybe go to Michael's this weekend.

Do you have a Party City near you? I got Frozen tattoos there for 99 cents. They also have Mickey, Disney princesses, Cars, and Monsters U.

Can you post a link to your blog? Or send to me privately?

Thanks,
Sonya

Just finished them!! We've got tons of colors already and

we're getting more for our next resort stay at the end of June, so I decided to just GO for it! Here are the three designs I went with... I can't wait to try more!

I posted a "How-To" :teacher: on my blog, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it here, so I just went with the pictures! I think I'm gonna try out the rub-ons or the temporary tattoos next! :cool1:

How did you do the heart on the princess and the Frozen theme?

The heart, princessess and Frozen images were all temporary tattoos from Party City.

The Frozen characters were applied directly to the band after painting it white, but the heart was applied to nail polish topcoat on a plastic bag that was then painted white and then peeled off and applied to the band with more topcoat.

One more question...I tried the plastic bag/white paint trick and failed. I used base coat though...so you used top coat and did you peel it off and then paint it white or did you top coat, tattoo, white right on top of tattoo, dry and then peel (giving you a reverse image once you apply to band)?

I'll have to check that out - I think the one that was closest to me has closed - but will check. THANKS for the suggestion!

Can you PM me the link to your blog? I tried PM-ing you, but don't have enough posts yet...

Thanks!

Love the steampunk idea. Where did you get the gears? Found some at Michael's but they are metal. Are yours metal and do they interfere with the RFID signal?

We also got ours at Michael's. They are metal. We hope that it doesn't interfere, but my DH's back up plan is to peel/snap them off if need be. They aren't completely solid. I am hoping it won't interfere with the signal, but those that have put jewels completely over the mickey haven't had problems...
My DH says that the anti rfid wallets have the material all the way around, these are only on top.

We are going in less than 2 weeks...I'll try to post an update if anything goes wrong.

We used top coat and applied it fairly thick to the bag then let it dry. After that we painted it with multiple coats of acrylic paint to get it nice and white. Then we apply the temporary tattoo to the white paint. Next, you peel the whole thing away from the bag. DO NOT apply more topcoat first (we found this makes it stick to the bag and tear). Then trim the peeled image with scissors to the desired shape. To apply it to the band, apply a thin layer of top coat to the band then lay the image down on top of it, making sure it is right where you want it because it can not be repositioned. Finally apply more top coat over the entire thing to seal the entire image.

So basically nothing gets reversed, the topcoat is just used as a base that peels away from the bag and sticks instead to the band. Good luck!

I have been reading this thread on and off for a couple of months but I can't find what I am looking for now so please forgive me for asking something that I know has been answered on here before but I can't find now.
1. If I use temporary tattoos do you use base coat, then the tattoo, and then seal it with base cost again our should I be using top coat.
2. If I paint with nail polish is it base coat, nail polish color, then base coat again.
3. What is the order for both polish and tattoos.
4. If we use acrylic paint do we still use the base our top coat.

I've done the temp tattoos both ways. One with the base coat first and one with no base coat
This one is with base coat

This one is without the base coat down first

Here is my tribute to the movie Brave. I am in no way an artist but did want to do something. I may decorate my husbands band if I have time. I have about 100 things on my plate so we will see.

After MONTHS and MONTHS of watching this thread I FINALLY got my own bands and painted them! SO excited to finally be sharing my bands here!!

So thanks for all the inspiration and tips to everyone before me who experimented!

I painted these directly on the bands with acrylic paints, I plan to use 2 coats of spray on acrylic sealer tomorrow once they dry completely. I had a friend use the exact same method and her bands held up through her trip, including water parks, just fine!
