Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Love it!

I have sealed all my bands using a nail polish top/base coat. I did have some cracking around the holes mostly.

I think you are going to want to find something more flexible, especially since you took the outer part off. The one I did that to had the most cracking since you have to bend it more to close it.

Someone just above mentioned flex seal. I'm going to research that next.

I had seen base coat mentioned a bit, will check out flex seal. I was concerned because I need to remove the outer band due to small wrists but I figure it's better to try on my older band and see what works for my new one this year.

Ok, thanks. I had stayed away from top coats because other posters on this thread staged that top coat caused their bands to crack. Maybe I'll try a combo of both top coat and base coat.

I also had some smearing of a couple colors when applying the base coat so I just did it carefully with dabbing more than brushing. As was quoted the top coats are harder and protective and the base coats has different properties but the issue with the top coat can be that it cracks because it is harder. If you are very careful to bend the band as little as possible when putting it on and off you might be ok. Or I might suggest using the clear top coat on the color of nail polish that smears under the base coat and then coat the whole band with the base coat.

I ended up just dabbing base coat on the areas with black instead of brushing it on, then I waited for it to dry. After it dried, then I brushed base coat over the whole thing and that seemed to work ok.;)

I was shopping at Five Below and they had a big selection of nail polish at really cheap prices. There were all kinds of colors and glitter polish, too. Most of them ranged from $1 to $3 per bottle. I bought some glitter polish for my MB's.

They also had acrylic paints and really cheap paint brushes, too. I prefer to paint with acrylics. It is a lot easier to use than nail polish.

I am humbled by all the gorgeous MB's. I am just painting the Mickey heads, both large and small, and using vinyl covers for the rest. I am not very artistic at all.

My FIL's favorite ride. He is going to WDW in a few weeks. I'm planning to surprise him with this. I bought it on our trip in August and it is not attached to any account yet. Hopefully I can add it to his MDE.

To the person who suggested I use 100% acetone to remove the glow-in-the-dark crappy nail polish.. Thank you! It worked! (I can't find the post)

Just finished mine for next week! As a base I used 5 coats of glow-in-the-dark Mod Podge, put the temporary tattoos on from Party City (99 cents!), and then sealed it with Aleene's matte acrylic sealer spray.

Anna had her arm "cut off" because it was the first one I transferred and I didn't know how to do it properly :-P I thought I really had to press the tattoo on the band and in the process the tattoo shifted and cracked/broke. A light touch turned out to be must better! The water does most of the transfer work.

When I was at the park, I did not see ANYONE with a decorated magic band! Where are you all hiding? :confused3

Tattoo, glitter polish, gold nail art & crowns, rhinestone and 2 top coats.

I have been "studying" this thread so I could decorate my bands. My friend Loves Cinderella, and I wanted to surprise her. May I use your band as an idea to customize hers? I am not at all artistic, so I hope it turns out 1/2 as nice as yours!

I bought vinyl covers and painted just the Mickey heads on three of the bands. The fourth band was yellow and the vinyl cover didn't really match it, so I painted it first. All of the bands are painted with acrylic paints applied directly to the band, no base coat. All of the Mickey heads have a coat of glitter nail polish, or two, and a top coat. The yellow band has glitter polish applied on top of the vinyl, but it is starting to flake off. :confused3 I'm planning to apply some top coat and hope it works. I like the way the yellow one looks, but it is a bit stiff and awkward compared to the others. I love the blue and green ones. :)

They are beautiful! I just showed my Mom the yellow one and she loves it. She is a huge Beauty and the Beast fan. Very nice. We used a similar procedure for the painted bands, and so far they seem ok but there is a bit of cracking on the fully painted band. The topcoat we used seem to remain flexible, as some that we peeled off of a plastic bag and never applied to a band is still flexible, so we think the paint is definitely less flexible than the top coat. Either way, great job!

Any recommendations for a base coat and polish that goes on smoothly? I'm working on a practice band and having problems with brush marks leaving a rough surface. Also, any recommendation on how to get the "messed up" layers completely off. I used acetone, but the base coat stays so sticky and I'm essentially having to scrape/peel it off best I can! I've never had this problem before when painting my nails! I got some of it off, but it's not pretty. Just hoping for a decently smooth finish.

Thanks in advance!

I used Pure Ice Bottom Line base coat that I bought at Wal-Mart for $2. It's kind of pinky apricot colored in the bottle, but goes on clear..

Will be posting pics of my band as soon as I can get some decent pics uploaded. :)

I'm not sure if this has been said or not, but Sinful Colors has a Glow-in-the-dark nail polish for those still searching for some. I've always found Sinful Colors at Walgreens. :maleficen

I found some glow in the dark acryllic paint (not clear) at wal-mart. You can find Sinful Colors there too, except I haven't seen the glow in the dark one at my local store.
