Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

This may be a dumb question, but how do you tell if your nail polish has any metal in it? I'm asking because I got a very cool glitter polish from Walmart that has regular sized glitter and some larger glitter in it (Pure Ice "Dazzle me"). I want to outline the mickey head in black and then glitter inside it. But I read somewhere that you can do anything to the mickey head as long as it doesn't involve metal, so I was hoping to find out what the large holographic looking glitter actually is made out of.

I've tried acrylic sealer, base coat an top coat. The top coat cracked, but only the one that was touted as 'super hard finish' was really noticeable. The combo base coat/top coat wasn't bad and the base coat as a top coat only cracked after a lot of use, and even then, it was just a little around the holes on the band.

So far the acrylic sealer is working really well. It is very flexible, even after several coats. I bought acrylic paints and sealer that were meant for leather, so I don't know if that makes a difference, since other people have had good results with whatever they found at walmart or Micheal's. I just ordered the one for leather when I got my paints because I could get matte and satin and it was convenient.
Good Info! Is the acrylic sealer a spray?

I'm a bit worried that the nail decals will wear off, even with polish, because they are kind of raised up a bit. Anyone have trouble with the nail decals?

Question - I tried reading through, but I can't seem to find the answer - Can I use the glow-in-the-dark polish as a base coat (or after a real base coat)? I'd like to put duct tape OVER the glow so it doesn't all glow. Then a top coat on top of all of that. Would that work? Has anyone tried something similar?

Just got our designed magic your band covers for our magic bands in the mail today. Mine is the Disney Characters. DH is the Marvel's Agents of Shield black band. DS(5) is the Star Wars band with an If Found Phone # added. The green is the bonus one sent with the covers.

I read through this entire thread for ideas as a friend asked me to paint hers. I used acrylic paint, an industrial sharpie and a spray sealer. They came out really nice I think.

I used a flexible spray sealer. It gave shine and didn't crack when I bent the bands. I did spray them while they were wrapped around a bottle so they would be in the shape they would be in if being worn.

I plan on using magicyourband for mine. Would still like it to glow though. Does anyone think it would be ok to put glow acrylic or nail polish on it?

We've had several customers tell us that they've successfully used glow in the dark nail polish over the top of the Skins they got from us.

I used a metal containing polish on a band this last trip and it was over the Mickey head. There were no issues. I've also used a few different glitter polishes with no issues.

Great, thanks very much for the info KAT4DISNEY! I really appreciate it!

I haven't had much luck with glow in the dark nail polish being a more than a pale glow, even with multiple coats. I had better luck with glow in the dark acrylic paint, but still not a super strong glow, and I had to do multiple coats. When I have done nail polish, I have used base coat as both the base and top coat, because top coat is not as flexible as base coat and can crack.

Quick question for those of you who have used swavorski crystals - I've used nail polish as the color and base coat to seal, but I do have some cracking when I close the band. I haven't adhered any crystals yet because I'm afraid they may fall off at some point now d/t the cracking. Should I go ahead and not worry or start over? Any suggestions to avoid the cracking if I start over?

I use a jewelers cement, but u always stick it straight on the magic band. So far, both bands I have done this to have lasted over a week.

Thank you so much! I'll get some acrylic paint and give that a try! I'm hoping the glow effect might help our little guys on dark rides should they get scared.

In case you missed them on this week's DIS Unplugged, we have two new DIS exclusive designs over at www.magicyourband.com

One is a glitter design and the other is a glow in the dark...

On my sweeties band I put a tattoo and just polished over it, leaving the rest of the band original. I like it. Don't have to worry about cracking cause the band doesn't bend at the Mickey head.

Here are the both of ours.

This is before polish on green one. U can see I outlined the Mickey head when I did the polish.

I love them! Such a simple way to do it, but they really look great.

One of my bands is a TNBC band, and it is my most worn magic band...although I do tend to wear two or three at a time. Twice in the last month I have had comments that I must like Halloween. One was a cast member and one was a guest who was behind me when someone was asking me about my decorated bands, but both were women in their late fifties or so, so maybe close to my age but probably a bit older. It took me a minute to realize that they were talking about my Nightmare band, and both times I told them that to me, every day is The Nightmare Before Christmas. lol
