Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Ok ... I have finally read ALL 207 pages ! I practiced on a couple of used Magic bands I got from a friend and finally managed to decorate our 3 bands for our trip TOMORROW ! All things considered, I'm ok with the way they look but can tell I'm going to have some issues with the paint and polish where the holes are with repeated fastening/unfastening. I'm thinking they should be fairly waterproof, but not sure if I want to risk showering or bathing with them on vs. messing up the holes more taking them off. Also, I'm envious of the people who seemed to manage to find tattoos that looked good when applied directly to the band in its original color, without having to paint the band white or jump through hoops of trying the "plastic bag method". It seems that no matter what brand of tattoo I bought, it looked "yuck" when applied directly to a pink, green, blue or even yellow band. Not at all colorful or vibrant - more like sort of see thru making Cinderella's face look whatever color was under it.

Does anyone have any advice regarding water exposure (mine are painted with acrylic and clear polish, temp tattoos or clear stickers, and more polish) ?? Also, any ideas about the cracking or peeling around the holes when taking bands off repeatedly ??

Thanks !!

I did the tattoo first, then nail stickers. I was worried about the nail stickers because after one coat of clear polish, they were not completely covered, so the polish holding the edges down seemed inadequate, too thin. So, I applied two more coats to get the polish to the same height as the stickers. They seem much more secure. The jewel in the center of the nail stickers is still up a little higher but I think it will be okay because there are three coats of clear polish on their now. I also did not cover the whole band with polish. I left the area where the holes are original. I'll post another pic so you can see that part.

Finally got them to post. I wasn't copying the entire link at first.

I think they came out pretty good. The Tiana one could have been better. Next time I would make sure to not have her face right over the Mickey head. It made it really hard to do detail on her face and get straight lines.

Are you kidding???? Those are great!!!! Super impressive. Wish I could draw like that. My 70-something folks didnt want anything fancy, so I just outlined my dad's mickey head in black, and outlined and glittered mine and my moms....in case one of the glittered ones dont work, I am going to bring my blue band from last year which I glittered everything but the mickey head on. Figured it would be my backup so I dont have to get "the grey band of shame" if the mickey head readers dont like my glitter nail polish. I'll post pics because even that little bit helps snaz the bands up. And it was free!

They came out great. I like they are not overly shinny. What did u use to seal them?

I used a spray acrylic craft sealer that I got at Michaels. It's flexible so when the bands bend it doesn't crack. I only did a light coat to keep the paint from chipping. If I had done heavier coats they probably would be shiny.

[/IMG] My folks wanted me to keep it simple (they aren't entirely sold on decorating the bands yet), so simple they got. Although I did do a layer of glitter on my band from last year which I am bringing as a backup. Hopefully if mine or my mom's has issues, we can use the old band. I purposely left the mickey head blank on that on (well, it had glitter on it but I scraped it off...glitter nail polish does NOT come off easily!!!)

I really love the simple ones. I did my old one with just different shades of glitter polish....and yes, that stuff just doesn't want to come off. I'll never use it on my nails again, it was a terrible ordeal to get it off. They look wonderful!

Was it a matte acrylic? Or does it only come one way? They look super cool!
