Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Love everyone's bands! Very inspiring...

I have a question- I used nail polish on my bands (coated two with glitter nail polish and put a tattoo on one with 2 coats of clear topcoat) but the nail polish on my bands is cracking!! Has anyone else had this problem? Am I just using nail polish that's too cheap?

I'd love any advice- we're going next week and I told my son I'd figure out how to fix his band! :)
IDK...I used Dollar Store Nail Polish and it is holding well, I even bend the band back and forth to try to get it to crack. It has some very, light hardly noticeable creases. I also used the sparkle polish, which I can't even get off my nails! Maybe you have too many coats!

I thought maybe it was too many coats (did 2 coats of sparkle and 2 coats of top coat on my daughter's which is definitely cracking), but on my son's I only did 2 light coats of top coat on top of the tattoos and it's still cracking!

Strangely, I was trying to get the sparkle bailpolish off of my band to redo it and it won't come off with nail polish remover, even though it's cracked!

I have benn looking at all these wonderful bands and am completely blown away! So went out and bought paint and was getting already to paint ours when they arrive when a friend told me not to do it because they had painted theirs and when they got there they wouldn't work. Then my sister told me you just can't paint the Mickey head. But a lot of these are fully covered.

So is there a problem with painting them? Was it something else that caused the problem for her? Some of it was metallic looking polish but she said the other one didn't work either. Now I feel I bought the paint for nothing cause I'm worried to do it. I haven't seen anyone on here say anything about problems.
Painting the mickey head is no problem- I did the same thing to mine last year as I did for this one using sparkle nail polish on only the mickey head and we had no problems with our bands working. Like someone else mentioned, I don't think you can add actual objects like rhinestones and on top of the mickey head, but you can certainly decorate and paint the band without any problems- at least so many people do and I have not read about any issues with them.

I'm not crafty at all, yet I am thinking that I would like to outline the Mickey head on our bands in black, but of course I want something that won't crack or smear or fade. I don't trust myself with paint. Is there a best type of fine-point marker or pen that all of you decorating experts would recommend for this simple job?

Thank you for your input, the more I hear from people that have done it the better I feel.

Yeah, sparkle nail polish is tough. Sorry it still cracked. It took me four applications to get it off my nails!

im not sure if fitbit bands are the same material as magic bands, they seem to be. i colored my fitbit band with sharpies and it rubs off after hours of sitting and drying. i tried putting clear nail polish over it and the colors ran, which look cool but i'm just confused, i thought sharpies worked on any surface. hopefully all goes well once the polish dries, but i might be heading out to buy a new one. thanks for any opinions

Fitbit bands are made from a different and less-rigid material to MagicBands. We do have custom vinyls for Fitbit...

I used paint and nail polish on my husband and sons' bands. I painted right on Mickey head and they had no problems them. I painted Tigger stripes on mine and covered the Mickey head with a black crystal and it worked fine the whole trip.

Awesome thank you!!

Ok, with all these replies I am so excited again about painting the bands! I took DS16 with me and we picked out some polish, light blue for DH, light purple for DS16 and I'm still caught between a couple different colors a pinkish color or a champaign color. Not sure which one will show design best so waiting till I get the tattoos I'm going to use and see. I even put all the different colors I had on a piece of cardboard and had everyone look at it and pick after I had used some old tattoos on it. lol

Three more magic band decals I designed on magicyourband.com... I'm obsessed with this site!

I LOVE the Scooby Doo! Where did you find images? I've been looking through google for something to use. If I PM you my email would you send me those Scooby pics?

I actually don't have the images saved anymore, but I know for the image on the left I googled "Scooby doo banner".. The image on the right I found the scooby picture by searching "Scooby doo transparent Background" and the background I just searched "hippie flower background" then just put the Scooby image over the flower background.

Thank you. We haven't used them yet. I did seal them and they have been bent back into box. I suspect the acrylic paint would peel if not sealed, but the acrylic Sharpie on my Jack one seems it more permanent. We will know soon enough :tigger:

I have used paint, polish and rhinestones without metal backing, and have had no problems...other than my own ineptitude with using the scanner at the park. lol I have finally gotten to the point that I can get it on the first try, but considering that we live in the area and have annual passes, I should have mastered it a long time ago.

One of my current bands has nail polish base coat, several coats of nail polish, nail liner, base coat as a top coat and has chains on it (made to miss the mickey head, but they kind of get in the way sometimes), and it has a magnetic clasp, but it works perfectly. My other bands have acrylic paint (special paint for leather, with their base coat and sealer), but I have used the inexpensive craft paints with pretty good results and no scanning problems.

Top coat seems to be too hard/inflexible, which results in cracks. A lot of us have used base coat instead. It is more flexible and the only cracks I noticed were tiny ones near the holes, I had tried top coat on my first band and it cracked much more noticeably. I had sparkly polish on my first one and has a hard time getting it off. I had to use acetone polish remover on that one.

A great tip I read is to cover the mickey area with tape like washi or masking tape, then trace around mickey. Then you can remove just mickey or surrounding area to paint. As for cracked smear or fade, you will need to seal whatever you use with a clear finish. I did a Jack band with acrylic Sharpies and those may work out well for you. Just remember to peel tape after applying finish before it dries but not when it's too wet.
