Has anyone attended an annual meeting?

Hi,

I will be the BCV annual meeting (hopefully). I would like to discuss the issue of room ready and requests at this meeting. I was wondering if anyone had attended one of these meetings in the past, and if so:

1) Is there a time for a q&a discussion of questions by members?

2) What is the procedure for getting your question on the agenda?

The annual meeting is usually divided into two components. The first is the "business" meeting which is tightly scripted and takes about 10-15 minutes. There is no opportunity for any input or questions from members- only the Board of Directors will participate.

The second portion of the meeting is a lot more casual. Usually the General Manager of the resort will give an overview of the past year and will present any expectations for the coming year. Sometimes other DVC CM's will be introduced to contribute a brief message. There has usually been ample opportunity for questions/comments from members in the audience. There will be a wireless microphone and most everyone who indicates they have something to say will be given chance to speak. Sometimes an explanation will be provided immediately for a question and sometimes they will state that they will investigate. I have never seen a member denied the opportunity to speak.

The entire meeting will last about an hour and members are allowed to attend any of the meetings- even if it's not your home resort. I will miss the OKW meeting this year, but plan to be at the BCV meeting. Perhaps we'll get to meet!

I would encourage everyone who has the oppportunity, go to an annual meeting.

I attended a meeting a couple of years ago. The actual business meeting is cut and dried, pretty much scripted to meet legal requirements. After the meeting there is a Q&A time, raise your hand and wait for the microphone. They'll get to as many questions as they can in the alloted time.

It's also a great place to meet fellow DISers, I had the pleasure of meeting Judith M and Simba's Mom.
