"Happy Graduation, We're going to Disney World!" - A May 2011 Pre-Trip report

Good afternoon all!

[Just so you know, this is a long update due to the posting of my up-to-date touring plans, feel free to skim if need be]

Today is my last Friday off before my days off change, so I thought I'd better make it a good one and get lots of Disney planning in

Anyway, as a sort of side note, I've been following AKL LOVER's PTR http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2615660 and got the most fantastic idea from her. She's been doing a pre-trip journal, which I thought was an ingenious idea, so I've decided to start one of my own!

Since I've been making the journal, I've been re-vising my touring plans. Looking at everything again, I think I made all my ADR's too early in the day for dinner, as most of them are between 4:30 and 5. If I could go back and re-do them now I'd probably aim for somewhere between 6 and 7. I called Disney Dining today and was able to make a few changes though, which I think will help a bit. Now we're going to the Yak'n'Yetti at 2pm on May 28 instead of at 4, and we'll be at Sanaa at 6:35pm on June 1 instead of at 5. I wasn't too surprised to see that the times I'd like have all been snatched up. I may try again later just in case, but I'm not making it a priority.

I've also been re-working my touring plans, like I mentioned earlier. Here's my revised and more detailed list:

May 27:
3:30 am - Wake up, very groggy and slightly grumpy at lack of sleep
4:00 am - Leave for the airport
4:30 am - Arrive at airport/check-in
6:35 am - Flight to JFK
7:45 am - Arrive at JFK
8:50 am - Flight to MCO
11:35 am - Arrive at MCO
12:00 pm - ME to CS
12:45 pm - Check-in at CS
1:15 pm - DD for lunch at the Earl of Sandwitch
2:30 pm - Bus to Magic Kingdom
6:00 pm - Monorail to EPCOT
7:20 pm - ADR at Coral Reef
8:30 pm - EPCOT, till we're too tired to stay awake standing up (EMH till 12am)

May 28:
7:30 am - Wake-up
8:00 am - Breakfast
8:30 am - Bus to AK
9:00 am - AK
2:00 pm - ADR at Yak'n'Yetti
5:30 pm (?) - Parade (I've never seen Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade, so it's a must-do this time)
6:00 pm - Bus to DD

May 29:
8:00 am - Wake-up
8:30 am - Breakfast
9:00 am - Bus to EPCOT
12:00 pm - Lunch at Sunshine Seasons (also excited to try this place)
4:00 pm - Monorail to MK
4:30 pm - Resort Monorail to Polynesian
5:00 pm - ADR at 'Ohana
6:30 pm - MK, till we're too tired (EMH till 2am)

May 30:
8:30 am - Wake-up
9:00 am - Breakfast
9:30 am - Bus to DD
12:00 am - Lunch at unknown spot
3:00 pm - Bus to any resort
3:30 pm - Bus to HS
4:30 pm - ADR at Brown Derby
5:30 pm - HS (EMH till 10)

May 31:
7:30 am - Wake-up
8:00 am - Breakfast
8:30 am - Bus to HS
9:00 am - HS
11:30 am - Lunch at Starring Rolls Cafe (never been, but I liked the sandwich options)
3:30 pm - Bus to EPCOT
4:55 pm - ADR at Akershus
6:00 pm - EPCOT, till we're too tired (EMH till 12am)

June 1:
6:30 am - Wake-up
7:00 am - Breakfast
7:30 am - Bus to HS
8:00 am - HS (EMH, just to ride TSM and the new Star Tours)
10:00 am - Bus to MK
10:30 am - MK
12:00 pm - Lunch at Cosmic Rays
5:30 pm - Bus to AKL
6:35 pm - ADR at Sanaa
7:30 pm - Bus to DD, back to hotel from there, or shopping if not too tired

June 2:
6:30 am - Wake-up
7:30 am - Taxi to AK
8:00 am - ADR at Tusker House (so excited for this one! We can get on the safari after, right?)
9:00 am - Gay Days at AK
12:30 pm - Lunch at Restaurantosaurus
2:00 pm - DISmeet at Dawa Bar
4:00 pm - Bus to EPCOT
4:30 pm - EPCOT, till close or till we're too tired, whichever comes first

June 3:
7:30 am - Wake-up
8:00 am - Breakfast
8:30 am - Bus to HS
9:00 am - Gay Days at HS (also a Starwars Weekend)
11:30 am - Lunch at Backlot Express
4:30 pm - ADR at 50's Prime Time
6:00 pm - Bus to MK
6:30 pm - MK, last time to take in the MK before leaving (EMH till 1am)

June 4: Leave to go home...ie, no parks, probably bumming around the CSR till the ME picks us up around 10 am

Hi again! Boy do I know about life getting in the way! I just had one of the six belt tests I need to get to my second degree black belt! I tested tonight, and it took a lot of prep time! We are also trying to blast through homeschool lessons so we can be ready for Disney!

Anyway, wanted to let you know that we are doing a DIS meet up at CSR in case you didn't know. It is going to be May 31st at 6:30 at the pool! You might know already, but in case you didn't, well...now you do!

P.S. love the tatoos! You will know me by this...I am Pooh sized, and in case my kids are all swimming and you can't then be like: "oh, there's that crazy lady with 5 kids I talk to on the DISboards!"(b/c they won't all be crawling up my bum like usual, so we need an alternate way of identification), I have a tatoo on my back of a Phoenix and a Universal Martial arts symbol. You know..."recreating myself through the martial arts..." Anyway, I figured it might be an easy way to identify me b/c there are so many of us Pooh sized gals around.

Thanks so much for letting me know (I didn't)! I really wish I could go, but I don't think I'd be able to make it back to the resort in time after our ADR at Akershus I suppose there's always a possibility though, so I'll keep my fingers crossed! I'll probably be pretty easy to spot with my tattoo but, I'll likely be with my fiance and/or parents.

I've been reading other people's PTR's and TR's these past few days...I've had 3 days off work in a row, which is very weird for me. I have to admit, I was going a bit crazy yesterday with nothing to do. So, naturally I came here for a good portion of the day.

I just felt like updating today...it's very dreary out. Rainy, windy, and foggy. A good day to curl up with a coffee and watch a movie or read a book...or go on the DISboards So, in honor of the nasty day outside, I took a few pictures. The first one is the view out my front window...not very exciting, but you get the idea of what kind of day it is. The second pic is of my breakfast. It's an almond croissant and a mocha from a cafe up the street from me called the Two If By Sea Cafe...the croissants are literally as big as your head. The one I got today is small by their standards. If for some reason you are ever visiting Halifax, you should hop the ferry and give them a try, it's totally worth it.

Second of all congrats on your upcoming graduation, even if you have to take a summer class.

Loving the tatoo. I have three myself. One is on my right leg of Tinkerbell sitting indian style with three stars over her head to signify my three kids. Who knew a fourth on would come along.

I am so jealous of your Tusker house reservations. You wouldn't mind two more right.

It's been raining here all day as well. Hate this weather.

I GOT MY MICKEY MAIL TODAY!!!
(I won't be able to get it until tomorrow...it came to my parent's place)

That was my burst of excitement for the day...

So, the other night I got a Blockbuster membership and rented The Princess and the Frog and Sleeping Beauty. I attempted to watch The Princess and the Frog, but about 20 mins in it froze because someone apparently spilled something on the disk so I had to return it and exchange it for another copy...I'll attempt to watch it again tonight. I really liked what I saw though.

Because I don't really have any new Disney plans or anything, I thought I'd share a picture that I took on Saturday morning when I was on my way to the market in Halifax. I love my city, and while I don't want to bore you with historical facts and whatnot, I might from time to time, share a few photos from around the city (and perhaps Dartmouth).

This is the view of Halifax as seen when looking out over harbor from the Dartmouth ferry terminal.

I hope everyone has been keeping well , and if you have an upcoming trip, I hope you've been having lots of fun planning everything!

Thanks! It was pretty early on a Saturday so it was really quiet...and cold. Too cold for this time of year if you ask me (it was probably around -3 or -4, which would be somewhere around 28 maybe)

If you leave the CSR as we get there that means you must be about ready to jump out of your skin with anticipation! I know I'm getting close to that point and I still have 22 days

I still haven't gotten my Alice tattoo finished yet...the bump that was in it has just started to go away, so even if I did have the funds (Disney has priority ) I still have to wait for it to completely go away before I could get anything else done on it.

I've only just gotten into PTR "following" ...may have just "followed" a few posts from your PTR ...can't wait to read the rest!

I've got a birthday just over a month away (June 14)...I wonder if I could claim I'm celebrating my birthday on my trip...... We'll see...Anyway, where I was going with that was...I might be able to ask for $$$ to go towards my tattoo for my birthday, and if that's the case it might get done a lot sooner than I think. I'll be sure to post pics once it's done!
