"Happy Graduation, We're going to Disney World!" - A May 2011 Pre-Trip report

Have a great trip! You arrive the night before we leave.

Okay, so I checked out your dates: A couple of mine match up! Maybe we'll see you around the pool. I tend to hang around at the hot tub b/c of my feet injuries! Congrats on your graduation!

Awesome! I'm not usually much of a swimmer, but I may take a quick dip in the pool at some point if it's as awesome as it looks. Hopefully we'll bump into each other at some point :) (and thanks!)

We'll be at CSR the exact same dates as you will! Congrats on your engagement and graduation!

I really want to do the Wild Africa Trek too but at almost $600 for the three of us, yikes! If you end up going, be sure to post pics!

Awesome! Maybe we'll run into each other at some point at the resort...or, maybe we could do a mini meet up with the other gal who is staying there at the same time as us :confused3

Have you called to see if they're booking into May yet for the trek? I haven't called in a while, but maybe I should try again to see

Congratulations on graduation and the engagement! How exciting :goodvibes

We'll also be at WDW around the same time celebrating my university graduation. Happy Planning...

I think it's crazy the number of DISsers going in May...we might take over the parks

So I don't have a whole lot of news to update on...but I figured it's been a little while so here I am.

Now it comes time for me to admit something that I may get shamed for...I haven't seen many classic Disney movies. Yes...I know. How can you be such a big fan of WDW without seeing many of the classic films? My fiance is trying to rectify this before our trip, and in the past 2 months I've seen Cinderella, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland (I had only seen it in bits and pieces before), The Little Mermaid, and the Lady and the Tramp. My goal is to get through Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Bambi, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Pocahontas, and The Jungle Book before our trip. I've seen Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Toy Story because they were in "my generation" of films growing up as a kid...I loved all of them and still do. I've also seen Mulan, but I don't remember much about it, and I've seen Finding Nemo, Lilo and Stitch, Tarzan, 101 Dalmatians (the cartoon is soo much better than the 'live action' one), and Marry Poppins. There may be others, but for now that all I remember...are there any other Disney movies I should see before my upcoming visit? :confused3

In other news, I had a tattoo consultation the other day. I've loved Alice in Wonderland since I was little (the book), and after having seen both movies (the recent one with Johnny Depp, and the classic animated one) I felt a little inspired. My plan is to get a tattoo of the Caterpillar and Alice, and he's going to be saying "Who R U?" in smoke. I get to see the sketch at the end of next week, so hopefully my artist was able to put something awesome together for me. Just as a little background info, I've already got 8 tattoos...some of them are small, but I've got one large one that goes from my knee to my foot, and it's a vine with flowers. I'll try to post pictures once I find some. :)

That's about all that's new with me at the moment...except for that I'm pretty behind on an annotated bibliography that was due on Friday...I may not even have it done by this coming Friday...I think I'm in it this time...but it's only one assignment, so it's not the end of the world, but it's still not good. Anyway, I'm off to search the boards...:surfweb:

I am glad that you are watching the Disney classic movies! They are great and it is good to see them before you go!

Can't wait to see the new tattoo. I want a Disney one. I just want purple Mickey ears on my wrist (just a tiny little thing).

love your pretrip report,we will be at HS on the first too.Might see you guys in the TSM mad dash, lol.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Hahaha, most likely :thumbsup2...I haven't been to the HS since it's opened, so I'm not even sure where I'll be 'mad-dashing' to for the fast passes,, but I'm going to go for it anyway...then likely get in line for the new Star Tours while we wait for the TSM Fast Pass time to roll around

Yes, that's right folks, it's time for another update! popcorn::

I took a look at my tattoo sketch yesterday and it's going to be awesome! :thumbsup2 I can't wait! I'm almost as excited for this tattoo as I am for my Disney trip:woohoo:...well, maybe not that exited, but pretty close

Anyway, I called to see about the Wild Africa Trek today (after two unsuccessful attempts at calling in later on at night...was on hold for more than 20 mins both times before I gave up), and the May dates are open! It's still $189, and for my fiance and I it would be over $300...:scared1: I just can't justify that. I can't. Maybe if I were actually in Africa, but not at Disney. I just can't help thinking that $300 could be spent better on other things. So, in light of the recent slight disappointment about the Africa Trek, I'm seriously considering taking a day to hop over to Islands of Adventure to check out the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I know my Dad would be up for it...he really wanted to do that in the first place but I sort of talked him out of it...now I'm kinda wishing I hadn't. I don't think it would cost much more than $189 for that 'excursion'. I'll talk to everyone and see how they feel.

If we don't end up going to IoA for WWHP, can anyone suggest something that might be cool to do, that's not crazy expensive?

I'm still super behind on my school work...I've had a terrible cold for the past week and a half, so it's been hard to even get to work some days. I'm on the mend though...thank goodness...I'm going away next week, and it would suck to go skiing with a cold.

Last night I bought a small waterproof pocket video camera for the trip...and I plan on testing it out in North Conway when I go skiing. It's probably not the best, but for what it is, it should do nicely. It's the Kodak Play Sport, in case anyone was wondering.

So, I'm going to end this post off (and hopefully some following ones) with some...drum roll please...pictures! That's right...I feel like I keep boring everyone to death with the little details of my small world (damnit, now I've got the song in my head), so in an attempt to keep people's interest, here are some pictures!

Here's my mom and I with a special guest at O'hana's on my last trip:

Wow, that is expensive for the animal trek, and you know it is going to be hot as well. I do want to do that tour, but I think that I will wait until we go in March in 2013. I do plan things out that far in advance. I follow the Detroit Tigers (baseball) and I want to see a spring training game and go to WDW. I would go next year, but I don't think it would work out.

You are the second person on the boards who got that camera. Let me know what you think. I need to look into it. I am sure my DH wouldn't be into it, but I like how it is waterproof.

Hope you are feeling better! Colds stink!

Hey guys! I'm back! :cool1:

So, it's been a month, give or take, since I've been able to indulge my DISboard obsession...it's been a crazy month. :headache: I've taken a trip to North Conway, NH with my Aunt and Uncle, almost failed a course but dropped it instead (which means I now have to take a course over the summer), worked my butt off, and got a part-time job on the side to help pay for my summer class, on top of finding out my great Uncle has cancer and dealing with that hole scenario. Soo...for the past month Disney was pretty much the last thing on my mind...well, not really, but you get it.

Anyway, now that I'm back and rearing to get caught up on all the threads I've subbed into, I figured I'd make a quick post to let you all know why I've been MIA for a while.

The final payment date for the trip is coming up soon...really soon actually. Once I get paid this week, I'll be able to pay it off

I also got the outline done for my new Alice in Wonderland tattoo...I LOVE it :cloud9: I can't wait to get the colour put in, but because of an unfortunate accident I had the night after I got it, I'll have to wait a little while before I can do that. You can sort of tell where my leg is bruised in the picture. There is also a bump on my leg. Aside from that, it's pretty much exactly what the picture looks like. And here it is:

I'll leave you with that, while I go browse around! :dance3:

I remember you telling me that you were having to take a class over the Summer. Bummer! My daughter has one class to take over the Summer too and then she'll have her degree.

I am sorry to hear about your uncle. I will be keeping him and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Very cool Alice in Wonderland tattoo. I like it as it is so I am sure it'll be out of this world cool when it's finished.

Thanks for the update. i was wondering how you were doing.

Great tat and I also look forward to seeing it all coloured in. Whoever did it obviously knows what they are doing :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about your great uncle. Positive thoughts

Awesome tattoo! Sorry to hear about your uncle! And I hope that bruise goes away quickly.

Thanks guys! :goodvibes I get all warm and fuzzy thinking that there are people that actually read my PTR :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about your Uncle and the rough time you've been having. Hope all gets better soon. Your tattoo is great...I'm sure it will be amazing when it's finished!
