Does anyone know if there is ANY sort of happening for Hanukkah? We will be there for the first night of Hanukkah and thought it would be nice if there was some sort of menorah lighting.

At the American Pavillion there is a Hanukkah display, but when we visited it wasn't hanukkah yet, wonder if they do anything??

We have been to WDW around the Hanukkah time the past few years and there really isn't too much going on. Aside from the American Pavillion display and the carolers singing "Oh Hanukkah" there is a small display at DTD and at the Osbourne lights there is a Dreidel and Star of David. There really isn't much in the way of merchandise either. There used to be way more but last year there were two ornaments to choose from and one was from the previous year which we already had and there were I think 3 different pins. Each resort does have a Menorah behind the check-in desk that is lite each night. I'm not sure if there is any kind of ceremony for that. This year we are going before Hanukkah starts and I really don't expect to see anymore than last year. By the way, there is nothing at Disneyshopping.com anymore, except maybe a pin. HTH:) Bring your own Hanukkah magic.

small representation such as that listed above, no religious services (not that hanukkah really has a service to speak of)

the american adventure has a hanukkah storyteller as well as kwanzaa

Sometimes at the America's Pavilion there is a story teller too.

I didn't know that. I don't know how we missed it. :confused3 We're christians & celebrate Christmas, but I love learning about other religions & heritages. We'll have to make sure to look for the hanukkah & kwanza storytellers this year.

I wonder if the Israel pavillion was built, they might have had events or a Menorah lighting there.

I wish they would add an Isreali pavillion. The presentation they had in Millennium Village was nice. I'd like to see them bring that back & add even more to the pavillion. It's a shame they removed it & left an empty building, only used for special events, in it's place.

I am glad you started this thread Doot Fan Mommy because I was about to start one. I have been to Disney on Christmas before, and in December before, but it has never actually been Hanukkah during those previous trips. I have started a facebook group to discuss the topic as well. I figure cover all bases. Here is the link to the facebook group if anyone wants to join. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1069601849781507/ It is called WDW Hanukkah 2016.

I know that Boardwalk Resort has a menorah on the fireplace, and Shades of Green has a huge gorgeous menorah on the guest services counter, but I have never seen a lighting ceremony as we never were there on the actual day.

What are you plans to bring a menorah that is electric or battery powered? I am planning to bring my electric menorah. Right now I'm researching where to get latkes. I can bring sufganiot, but its really hard to bring latkes because they'll get mushy.

I can't help with your questions, but I just wanted to make sure you knew that this thread was started in 2008, so I'm not sure if the OP is still around to respond. Good luck with your planning!

The Hanukkah storyteller is pretty good. The last time I saw it, it was located inside the American Adventure building. I listened to the storyteller while waiting for the Voices of Liberty.

Zombie thread but yea the storyteller is shoehorned in the back corner inside the American pavilions lobby little to no merch

Shall we just revive this thread or should I start a new one? I am not getting any notifications from the disboards to my email so I don't know when someone has responded to a thread I'm on. I will have to try to figure out why, because every now and then I do get one. I just heard on the DIS Daily Fix that there will be a Hanukkah storyteller on the stage at Disney Springs, in the evening during Hanukkah, but Ryno didn't mention what time though. He probably doesn't have the times.
