Half Marathon - Train with me for Jan '11 - ...Shock - an update! 4/06! new pix

Everyone

Fly Safe

Drive Safe

Run Safe

and HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be thinking of you and can't wait to hear about it when you get back!!!!!!!!!

It is now 10:48pm my time. I leave at 6:10am to pick up Elizabeth. I am not packed yet. :scared1:

It's 5:00am and I have given up on pretending to sleep. The roads look iffy, but I'm going to leave plenty early and take my time. I'm trying to decide if I should leave really, really early (which means DH has to wake up in the middle of his night to take the girls to school) or drop the girls off as planned, which still gives me an extra hour. Part of me thinks I should go now in case it gets worse, but part of me thinks waiting a bit gives them time to plow the roads. Schools aren't closed in our area yet, so I'm probably overreacting just a bit.

Anyway, I am packed and could leave anytime. I'm going to relax in the bath for awhile and then check the road conditions again.

I won't be able to post again because I'm leaving my computer at home. At this point, assume no news is good news! Have a great weekend everyone and be safe!

I am about to leave to get Elizabeth and then we are on our way to the airport. Weather is holding here. Not suppose to rain until after we take off  and Birmingham is getting a mix right now and it is suppose to stop soon. Let's hope the weather gurus are right! Prayers are being answered. :goodvibes

I won't be flying out today. The roads to the airport are just too terrible. I got my flight changed to tomorrow afternoon out of Indy. Hopefully I will be able to get there. I also have to hope that my mom gets there on time so that she can pick up our stuff. I might be able to make it (I land at 3), but it would be nice to have one less thing to worry about.

I'm so sorry to hear that.:sad2:

It is better to be safe than to try to do do something you are not comfortable with... like drive through a blizzard! At least you have tomorrow to get to WDW.

Dislver: I'm sorry. :guilty: Good luck with your flight tomorrow ... and getting there! And prayers that your mom is able to pick-up your packet - I know that's stressful.

I'm due to land in Orlando a little before 10AM tomorrow morning. Weather.com is showing possible flight delays for Orlando tomorrow. :sad2: A rain system (not snow or ice) shows to be moving through the area to cause it. Per weather.com it's all moving through in the morning when I'm expected to land. It doesn't show anything for tomorrow afternoon so you should be fine. Fingers crossed for both of us! I don’t want any issues with landing … back to my HUGE fear of flying!! -Wait! Now weather.com is showing PM showers instead of AM showers. However, it's taken off the possible flight delay notice. *ugh* Well, one of us will have showers when landing but taking off that flight delay notice is a good thing - so hopefully it won't be bad at all. It does show up to 40% chance of rain all afternoon and evening tomorrow at Disney. I will be praying that it stops by the time the 1/2 marathon starts on Sat morning. Right now 5am Saturday (as far as the hour by hour currently goes) shows 38 degrees with 40% chance of rain. :sad2:

I'm assuming that Sandy is on her way now. I guess that it’s a good thing that she didn’t fly into Dallas last night – she’d probably have flight delays this morning. It did rain last night and it’s in the 20’s now and not expected to reach above freezing. There are some icy road conditions this morning and from what I saw on the news this morning, some of the worst of it looks to be around the DFW airport area. I bet that they are/were having some delays this morning out of DFW. Thank goodness that there's no more precipitation expected for DFW, just extremely cold temp’s. I shouldn’t have to expect flight delays out in the morning.

eyor: Be safe! I’ll see you Saturday!!!

Anyone heard from maroo? I know that she’s going but I haven’t seen her post in a couple of days. Then again, I’m not certain for what her trip dates are.

Oh, and I see that my ticker is a little bit off. :confused3 Obviously I'm not running the marathon today! It was actually a countdown until I left for the marathon ... which is tomorrow.

You guys are prolly all having a great time now! I hope everyone's well rested, feeling their groove, and having a super-duper wonderful time!!

Looking forward to hearing how everyone fared in the run!! Keep us posted if you can.

people its cold.

and its embarrassing to be the LAST finisher of the dern race....

but Aldisneygrl tracked me thru the website - it was my BEST TIME EVER!!

I averaged 17. ?? min miles :faint: no wonder I'm so dang sore!!

and from mile 10 I realised a few trucks were following me... at mile 11 a few police cars - were talking maybe 20 feet behind me.... 3 cyclists, 3 medical cyclists... but as long as I was smiling and talking to the cyclists, they let me continue! :goodvibes (boy can I smile!! and I did try and surge to catch the pack... it was cold! Sleet and rain... cold winds were blowing... I dont run in that at home...)

Just had dinner with Dolce, eeyor, eeyor's friend (who promised to sign up and join the fun!!) and Maroo :cool1:

We ate at Cape May Buffet - and was it delicious - crab legs were nice and sweet - we just talked and talked (and of course, what's said at the table STAYS at the table! :rolleyes1 I have a rep to protect you know!! ;) ) Our Waitress brought us out a cake to celebrate!! Such a magical time! Right now - Illuminations are going off - and you can see it from our window!! Magical!! (also we were selected as "Family of the Day" and had a "magical moment" at Columbia Harbor House - stay tuned the TR will have pictures!!)

Maroo is having some really magical times as well!!

It was the best time, DH and DD also commented they were the nicest Dis friends of mine they met!! :goodvibes Now we are trying to decide if we can do the Wine and Dine.... or the Half in '11!

I have to say when I got on the bus after the half (that in and of itself was a nightmare!) I cried.... then when I hobbled to the room... I sat on the bed fell over, and cried "I dont think I can do it again!"

I truly pushed myself, but at the same time - everything felt good - my hip and feet havent felt that good... ever!!

Thank you all for your support, friendship, kindness, prayers.... it means a lot - I'm sure this will get kicked to the Finished Trip Reports I'll add a sig when I get home and do a proper TR!!

Tomorrow the FULL!! :cool1: GO DH - he's Goofy and will run that one too!!

I had a great time meeting all of you guys!

Dolce - How did you do? Did you have fun? I wanna hear all about it!

I know it was SOOOOO COLD!

I had a great time hanging with you guys. :)

Congratulations Sandy!!!! I'm Liznboys friend that passed you after we'd gone through the MK! Liz and I both are so happy that you made it! You truly are an inspiration! I have those pictures I took of you. Let me know if you want me to post them or PM me and I'll e-mail them to you. That was a race like no other and it proves that those of us that finished are definitely tough cookies:thumbsup2

Thanks Jenny - either is fine - I'll PM you my email!

so here I was running doing 15 min miles for the first 5K... got in MK - not too many WISH'ers out there, didnt see Maroo at all... darn, my shoe is untied... couldnt bend over... turned out to the bridge to Tomorrowland, and eeyor/Lisa taps me on the shoulder!! she is 1 small spitfire - I told her to run her race, and go go go!!

Tried to tie my shoe again... then I think to look for someone to bend over and tie it FOR me.... :rolleyes1
turn to the bridge to hit mile 6 - 2 more people pass me and said "WISH" hey - what's your screen name? "Sandy321" :yay: Liz and Jenny - we all kinda go to the Mile 6 clock with the time to take a picture, then I realized I needed my shoe tied (it does get obsessive!)
so I keep on going... then tada - LTT the CM's are standing outside - and NOT wearing gloves!! :goodvibes ran up the steps and a kind CM tied my shoe! :goodvibes off I ran.. wogged... well moved...

Got outside of MK (the line to get a pic with the Pirate Ship/Pirates was very long!!) out of the park down to 7, down to 8 mile (Mickey and Donald in Gofl outfits... too cute... Mary Poppins...) somewhere in that long stretch Jenny and Liz pass me... (well, you know EVERYBODY did :rotfl:) this time they decide to shoot me!! (ok, with the camera!!) :rotfl2:

oh - and apparantly "other people" are going around saying THEY were the last runners... :rotfl2: all I know is I had the police, sweeper, medic escorts - and there werent no others behind me...

so really - what's to stop someone who was "swept" put on the bus taken to the finish area - to walk out the parking lot into Epcot and get back on the course? (maybe they took their numbers and chips :confused3 so people couldnt do that?)

its late - and tomorrow is Studios!! :cool1:

Here is what Chicago looked like at boarding time -

IMG_2247.jpg

Getting out of Chicago was nothing short of a miracle!! I believe in Miracles!

I havent uploaded too many pictures - and I respect many people dont want their pictures posted!!

Those darn shoes!! :lmao:

EEK! Chicago looks frightening- maybe not as frightening as the sweepers and medics though.

I"m just so tickled you finished, Sandy!! So, so proud of you! YOu've done something I've not been brave enough to do yet, but have this idea growing in my fanny, no, wait, that'd be my fortitude. :rotfl2:
