Half Marathon - Train with me for Jan '11 - ...Shock - an update! 4/06! new pix

I just want to go on record that I really like the vanilla Gu. :)

But I have to take it in small doses.

I also...and this is going to sound nutty...like to eat Sprees. They don't have much in the way of electrolyes...but they do provide a sugar burst that I sometimes need when I am riding bikes a long way. And they are easy to carry around and grab one or two while I am going. Random, huh!

So...do I need to do anything to "sign up" for the POP meet? Or just show up?

Not sure on Le Cellier...who all is going to be there? I don't want to interrupt some romantic meal! :lmao:

I get to go to Le Cellier in Dec and again in March! :woohoo:

you guys are so awesome...with all this info...thanks so much!!

Dolce thanks for the links!

I did begin my own PTR...lol..my first ever, you guys have inspired me...I just havent figured out how to put the link in my signature the correct way...
so if you have time.....lol....realizing I have a loooonnnnggg way to go....you guys are right around the corner:)

Now that I'm all caught up on the other reports and the WISH board - I have run out of time -

dh needs the computer - his company that laid him off hires him to work at night - and they just called!!

Sandy: :woohoo: He's working :woohoo:

maroo: one of the attorneys at my firm runs half marathons. Her favorite thing to take on the course: tootsie rolls. The first half that she ran, apparently she didn’t know what the heck she was doing and didn’t have anything to take on the course. Some of the people watching and cheering on the sidelines were passing out tootsie rolls so she grabbed some and that saved her race. The next half that she ran, she knew a bit more about proper fueling and had some GU. She hated it. So now she just takes tootsie rolls with her when she runs a half marathon.

I couldn't do candy. I'm glad that I really like the cliff shot blocks.

Alright.. I've got 6 miles to run tonight! I hope that my feet/knee are up to it.

Wait! What's the popcorn for? What am I missing? And why is Sandy's little green light still on when I told her ...uh, I mean... encouraged her to go and do her four miles?

pass it over here! popcorn:: DH bought UP - and as soon as he gets off the phone DD is going to put on the movie!

Wait! What's the popcorn for? What am I missing? And why is Sandy's little green light still on when I told her ...uh, I mean... encouraged her to go and do her four miles?

:confused3 I have NO idea why my green light is on... :rolleyes1

At the Full marathon some of the WISH Scream Teamers bring stuff to pass out - like the cold washcloths were AWESOME - but after going thru Studios you run thru to Boardwalk - run by the Stormalong Bay pool - a group was passing out licorice - and dh thought that was so nice... worst mistake he made -

it goes back to what you do in training - you do on race day!! Beans and bloks for me!! I tried some new brand of blox - they had a "jelly" center - eh they were ok - but I think I'm going to stick with the ones I had in '08...

I really dont know if I like my plans - Reading Maroo Liesa, and Cynthia's plans I think I have to do more planning -

8 WEEKS FROM TODAY!! :woohoo: We will be in DISNEY!! :woohoo: :wizard:

Just called HappyCamper (she's in Houma LA and is joining us for the trip!) she was debating on which resort to stay at - she has stayed at POR with her dh, he recently passed away, so she debated POFQ or POP -

I reserved a Fridge for her for POP - and now that Fridge is missing.. :sad1: the only other swap has 3 days available - :confused3

Her dgd lived with her for quite awhile - and just got a benign report!! :yay: unfortunately dgd cant come with her to Disney - (I want to say "yet" because I would love for her to come!! something about school being more important!! :rolleyes1 I know - I'm a bad parent!! I'm so over it tho... Life is short - we take things one day at a time...

DD has been home sick Mon and Tues, no school today - she has "hormonal synchopae" issues - fancy way to say she faints... for some reason she doesnt like going to school when she feels faint...

and now I see my name as the "last poster" which means - everyone else is doing something - guess I'd better... hmmm

Sandy, PsssssTTTT....

I know a trick where you can shut that little GREEN light off and still be on the Dis.....LOL

:rotfl2:

I am in a whining mood... that was a lousy 5 miles...

WTH am I thinking? I just dont think this is going to make a difference whatsoever. I'm old, fat and lazy...

I 100% agree with that statement!!! :thumbsup2

You did five miles, Sandy! 5 miles! Be proud! Do not give up. The more you do them, the easier it will become. The easier it becomes the faster you will be.

You will do this Sandy. I have faith in you!

Gosh you all have been busy the last couple of days. I haven't had a computer, something is seriously wrong with mine at home.

Sandy, I love the Alabama song, but you are right, not for walking, wogging.
Five Miles!!!!!!!:woohoo::banana::cool1: you go girl!!!! and I love your Disney math. Believe me, I'm wishing it were this week.

Dolce I love that you are in double digits now. Keep on going. How is the apartment situation? Everything okay around there?

DB3 Everyone has given me a ton of wonderful advice here. This is one of the best threads on the DIS.

Maroo How are the three miles going this week?

We have the Lisa problem here at work also. Two of us are in the same group. When we work together we are Lisa2. Then I have the Scott problem. DH is Scott and I have an employee named Scott. Quite often people will call me about DH at work and I have to ask, "my work Scott or my home Scott" :rotfl:

I walked 5 miles on Tuesday evening. The wind was really strong and made it a little difficult. The track I was on is a large oval and you mostly go North-South. On the East side is the train tracks which run North-South. When I would head North on the East side occasionally the wind would start blowing from the North and it created a wind tunnel effect. A few times I was leaning (way over) into the wind, and it felt like I was pushing my way through. On the North end of the track is a wooden privacy fence. I just kept saying, "get to the fence, just get to the fence". Then the wind would be blocked until the next time around. DH dropped off DD as I was beginning mile 5 and I didn't want to keep her out there too long. She had her scooter that shoud road will I walked. We were the only two out there. Other people would show up, walk a couple laps and then leave. I was the only nutty one willing to stay out in the wind. :upsidedow I just really had to get my walk in.

I'm thinking I may have missed a couple of things. Not sure.

I just looked at the smilies and all that move are moving except for the banana. He's stuck.

eeyor/Lisa :rotfl2: they are not all stuck! :surfweb: just sometimes!!

What is it with the sick computers? :confused3 H1N1 has struck computers!! :duck:

I know.. its 5 miles - but its no big deal 5 miles... My goal was to keep my arms up swinging like a real runner (there has to be muscles to keep those arms up for 13.1 miles!) and when I felt most vulnerable I'd suddenly hear some uplifting words in the music... its just really tough to keep focused and not drop the mental game!

Lisa that's where I give you credit - if I had to do 5 miles on a track - I would've given up with that wind! You have a great fortitude!! :woohoo:

Dolce I can see where your training is paying off - you are able to maintain your time - and you can see improvements -

Maroo how goes your journey? I still think of you completing 2 Tri's :cool1: That is so cool!! oh, and let me know what Thurs happenings - I'm very flexible - I will have to straighten out a misconception :rolleyes1 romantic? at Disney? :rotfl2: Dont forget our DD is with us, and DH works very hard to 'entertain' her!! We have FUN at mealtimes!! There is poking that has been going on lately :sad2: (Is it because the boys are gone now? DH walks up and says POKE... as he pokes her side, or her arm, or the back of her head... :sad2: dd will run up out of nowhere and "poke" you... ) again, we are just here to have fun!! We'll probably be too exhausted tho to be entertaining!! :rotfl2:

no green lights for awhile - I have to work today (and tomorrow :woohoo:)

O- On fire!
L- Loveable!
D- Delightful!

Don't you listen to that cranky, stanky inner voice!! Listen to what HE says about you!!

Keep up the fantastic progress ladies!! YOu're doing GREAT!

eyor: Awesome job on sticking with it even in the wind. We have no idea what the weather conditions will be like on race day. I've been going out to do my runs in all weather conditions and reminding myself of that.

Sandy: Like I said above, keep going out and doing your training runs. Don't give up. It will get easier and you will get faster with the more training that you do. This training isn't easy for me either. When we all come to this message board and post "I did x miles today" it sounds easy, but each of us has different struggles with it. If doing this was so easy - a heck of a lot more people would be running half and full marathons each year. It's not easy and those of us that are doing it have to work for it but the reward for our efforts will be worth it.

All7: I like that one! Listen to her, Sandy!

Wait! What's the popcorn for? What am I missing? And why is Sandy's little green light still on when I told her ...uh, I mean... encouraged her to go and do her four miles?

The popcorn was for the call that DH got...I was wondering if it was a new job or something! :confused3

:confused3 I have NO idea why my green light is on... :rolleyes1

My 3 miles week is going well, actually! I did 3 miles on Monday night and made some good time! :) Tuesday I did not do any because of the chaffing...wanted it to get better. Last night was my "Lauren" night...which means I go straight from work to her house and did not get home until 10:30. So tonight is my next three miles and then I need to get 3 more in at some point before Sunday. So...still on track!

And.... I lost 3 pounds!

I feel you on the name issue!

So...I see you enjoy running in Tropical Storm force winds? :rotfl: I was wondering how things were going for you guys down there!

Good for you for pushing through it! You are doing GREAT!!!!!

Maroo how goes your journey? no green lights for awhile - I have to work today (and tomorrow :woohoo:)

My journey is going quite well!

I have been surprising disciplined on the food issue and my workout schedule is not so difficult that I can't keep up...so that is good, too!

The Tri's really were not a big thing! :) They are baby tri's...but they are fun to train for! :) The total time out there is usually around a hour and a half or less...so half as much as this is going to be.

I am really nervous about going the distance in this half...I am just afraid I won't be fast enough or just won't be able to make it to the end?

I don't know my plans yet for Thursday.

I am waiting on WDW Today and All About the Mouse to announce their Marathon Weekend meets...once I know what those are, I will fill in the rest of my time with DIS meets!

Who is going to be eating with you guys on Thursday? What time is the meal? :)

Oh...and BTW...I do have a Tables in Wonderland Card...which should work at both Le Cellier and Cape May for whatever table I sit at up to 10 people. They have automatic gratuity...but it will help some.

So I do this really long post above (which I kept getting interrupted while I was trying to type. You think they actually expect me to work here.:rotfl2:) and I was walking down the hall a little while ago and realized I forgot something very important.
:woohoo::woohoo: Sandy's DH is still working!!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo:

What is it with the sick computers? :confused3 H1N1 has struck computers!! :duck:
Every time I let someone else use my computer, then I seem to have problems. DH tried putting a different antivirus on it and I just don't think it is as good as the one we had before. Why he couldn't have just updated the other one......:confused3

I know.. its 5 miles - but its no big deal 5 miles... Sandy - 5 miles is a huge deal. You are over 1/3 of the way there!!!!!!

Lisa that's where I give you credit - if I had to do 5 miles on a track - I would've given up with that wind! You have a great fortitude!! :woohoo:
More like stubborn, but thanks:goodvibes

eyor: Awesome job on sticking with it even in the wind. We have no idea what the weather conditions will be like on race day. I've been going out to do my runs in all weather conditions and reminding myself of that.
Been thinking the same thing and actually it was that thought that kept me going. Of course, I wasn't brave enough to get out in the wind and rain on Monday. Although, that was my off day.:rolleyes1

And.... I lost 3 pounds!

in case any one missed this MAROO LOST 3 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!

So...I see you enjoy running in Tropical Storm force winds? :rotfl: I was wondering how things were going for you guys down there!
We are fine. Just a bunch of wind and rain, no thunder and lightening though, which was odd.

I am really nervous about going the distance in this half...I am just afraid I won't be fast enough or just won't be able to make it to the end?
Get rid of these thoughts. You can do it. You are doing it. You are training properly and when the time comes, you will be ready to go and you will be fast enough and you will finish.

Oh...and BTW...I do have a Tables in Wonderland Card...which should work at both Le Cellier and Cape May for whatever table I sit at up to 10 people. They have automatic gratuity...but it will help some.

They are going to charge gratuity anyway......do you think they have figured out how to charge double gratuity?????? Once for the group size and a second time for using the card.:rolleyes1 Sorry this is the one thing about eating at Disney that gets me. The huge gratuity for large groups.

Actually the card does help. If I remember it correctly, you get 20% off, yet they add 18% gratuity. So you really get 2% off and don't have to leave a tip. :thumbsup2 does that make sense?

Does that stinkin' no-choice gratuity get tacked on for ALL sized groups?? Like when the 3 of us go, are they going to shaft us with that too?

Does that stinkin' no-choice gratuity get tacked on for ALL sized groups?? Like when the 3 of us go, are they going to shaft us with that too?

No, the automatically added gratuity starts at either parties of 6 or 10. I can't recall which one right now.

maroo: Congrats on the weight loss!!! :woohoo:
