Hakuna Kidani, What a Turtleful Phrase!

Happy Birthday Sophie!!! Have a great weekend Memom! :goodvibes

It started getting great about ten o'clock last night when a carload of girls pulled into my driveway. :)

Lurker here- my kids go back on Sept 3. First time since I've had kids in school that it's been after Labor Day, with the exception of Hurricane Irene when the first three days were "snow days". We are in Connecticut. Love the Vero Beach stuff, we were there in early July, but didnt take near as many pictures!

Glad you joined in the conversation. :woohoo:

I think you may be one of the few 'after Labor Day' people left.

What activities did you guys do while you were at Vero?

I look forward to the Sophie first birthday pictures and reading about the fun party you have planned.

After seeing the Vero Beach pictures, I am ready to mke a side visit to the beach before or after my next Disney trip. The sad thing is I do not know when the next trip is going to happen.

If I were you, I would go after the parks. It would be a nice way to relax and wind down and get your legs back after lots of park time.

Of course, it is your trip, so you can do it your way. ;)

I took a load of stuff to camp (we're partying there) yesterday, and my kitchen is filled with another load to take this morning. Then we still have to grocery shop. It's gonna be a busy day. ::yes::

Seriously? Do they not proofread anything? :faint:

At least they are not insisting we use our 2012 cups in this one! :faint:

You would think the Disney higher-ups that visit Vero for their own rest and relaxation would have them fixed, wouldn't ya?

Hope Sophie's birthday was amazing for the whole clan. :goodvibes

We're partying today. Yesterday, she was at school all day. When they got here last night, I saw her for about five minutes, and then it was back to sleep for the birthday girl.

We need a Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort sign report from anyone who has been/goes there. Are there as many mess-ups in its signs???

I might just have to steal your idea about keeping the girls leaves and petals in a special jar :thumbsup2
One of mine in particular loves to pick up fallen petals and other such treasures so maybe it's time they had a special place where we keep them :) A bit like the way we play with shells and stones in the sand tray which we've collected from real beach trips.

Have a great weekend all of you - I'll be back sometime soon to check out the photos!

Happy birthday to Ms Sophie!! Her birthday party sounds like a blast!! You guys will have lots of fun.

I really like that Vero sticker/magnet and the ball cap. Very neat!

Yahoo! It's party day! I hope y'all have a blast celebrating Sophie's 1st birthday. I hope you gets lot of hugs and kisses from the girls too.

I enjoyed the photos of Vero and I love the rug. Such pretty colors.

Last free weekend before football starts. Danielle is on her high school dance team so we'll be at games starting next Friday until November. An of course we're big college football fans and that starts next Saturday. I know Trent's a big SEC fan and even bigger Gator fan. You live in big SEC town too.

The sign to squid lips is funny.
Nice view at the restaurant.
I hate bad service from a waiter/waitress.
Nice pics walking around in the morning.
The spelling errors are funny. Did you write an email?

:tinker: :mickeyjum HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY SOPHIE! :mickeyjum :tinker:

I love how much WDW merchandise there is at Vero Beach. It's so nice.

I'm one for the real pirates. Fascinating characters. Well... if you base it off POTC (movie and ride) and Jack Sparrow, they must be interesting. :teeth:

Memo to Vero: Proofread your instruction boards, it's pretty important to spell something right lol

Yep, those shells, sticks, petals, and leaves take on an extra beauty and meaning when they are loved/played with by sweet little ones.

We did have fun. Pictures coming. (Just a few of the same ones you saw on FB.)

I ended up getting a Vero keychain that was on sale, but I am going to put a magnet on back of it and use it as that. It's not metal, but a light plastic or wood. I can't recall. I already took the chain part off, but I have to remember to get a magnet.

Trent is a big Florida fan. I hope Brandi can survive the screaming during football season. :crazy2: She may have to plan some shopping excursions with her mom or movie dates with her girl friends during football games. :)

I did like the decor at Vero Beach. I thought it was nicely done.

We had a great family weekend. The ending was not horrible, either, because we'll see them again next weekend when they come back through from KY. They always go to KY for Labor Day weekend, so they'll stop back by here when they go home. I like that arrangement. :thumbsup2

I can't believe Sophie Kate is already a year old!!! I cant wait to see party pictures!

She is indeed a year and a couple of days. She's saying a few words -'up' was today's favorite, along with the ever popular 'Momma'. ;) She crawls everywhere and pulls up and stands, but she is not walking yet. She's a smiley girl....when she is well-fed. :goodvibes

I did not write an e-mail. I guess I don't have that much invested in the place. I would think the DVCers that stay there often might say something sometime.

I did see the first Pirates movie, or most of it, and I don't remember it being horrible. It's just not my type of movie. i am more of a chick flick or family type movie. A couple of my non-Disney favorites (off the top of my head) are While You Were Sleeping and The Preacher's Wife.

I'm a little late, but gonna go back and get caught up. :thumbsup2

I am so slow these days, you will have plenty of time to catch up.

Sophie's Storybook Circus party was fun. We had nine kids eight and under and an assortment of family and friends. Here are a few pictures from the party.

This is a big multi-purpose building at our church camp, and it was perfect for our party. There was plenty of room for lots of little ones to move around.

I had every intention of writing Big Top Treats on the sign, but never got to it.

Plenty of circus/carnival type food.

The birthday girl.

Tickets were good for food and fun...and they were free!

Duck Pond

Ring Toss

Strong Man

They enjoyed shooting balls out of the cannon.

Rounding up all the wild animals.

Our version of Barnstormer.

My favorite picture of the night, I think.

Cupcake creativity.

Micah had such fun all night.

Cousins

I was so happy to see this girl again after three weeks and two casts.

Jill stripped Sophie down with the thought that she would be frosting covered, but the littlest surprised everyone and had no interest in the cake.

Yes, she's outside on the ground. Jill didn't want the cake mess on the carpet in the building, so she was going to let her make the mess outside and then hose it down. As it turned out, she could easily have done it inside, but who knew????

Anyway, there was a lot of preparation leading up to this event, but it was worth it. Sophie can look back on pictures when she's older and hopefully enjoy them then, and Carson at one point was running from one game to another saying, "Best party ever!" Now, I am smart enough to know that that was only true until his next party, which will then be the new 'best party ever', but still, it was nice to have everyone together having fun.

Next up: more Disney.

Now, back to Disney's Vero Beach Resort.

Stitch was having a blast!

In the early afternoon, there was a game of Candyland.

You can borrow board games and videos from the resort.

At this point, Sophie was still a 'scooter'. Now she's an all out crawler.

Later, the girls went to a birthday party. Adults weren't supposed to stay, so I got these shots are from the window.

A craft lady outside by the pool.

I'm not sure what kinds of things she makes with kids, but at that time she was packing up to leave.

We were back at the cottage for a short time hanging out talking to Marc and Anita. We got a call that Bella was a little afraid of being there without her grown-ups, so we headed back down to pick her up.

They were close to wrapping things up anyway.

This nice cast member was taking care of Bella.

Jill helped her put some sprinkles on her cupcake.

Brooklynn was doing just fine.

That's it for tonight. Hope everyone had a great weekend. I will hit the ground running Monday morning and will pretty much go, go, go! Three work nights this week and a faculty meeting one day. Also have obligations for the two non-work nights. I will crash late Friday night, and I might even sleep until 4 something Saturday morning!!!

Jill's priority this week is getting her washing machine fixed. We're hoping it'll be an easy and inexpensive fix. :thumbsup2

Have a good week, Distown!

Are you trying to tell me she did NOT touch the cake?

I. DONT. BELIEVE. IT. :lmao: Now that a story for when she is older.

Did you try to tell her she couldn't have it, and watch her try and get it?
:rolleyes1

Too funny. That girl is full of surprises. :rotfl:

Sure doesn't look like a party.

That poor boy in the black shirt looks especially miserable.

Sorry Bella was feeling anxious without an adult there to reassure her.

Hopefully once things got rolling the party was fun and the girls enjoyed themselves.

This was a very cute party. I need to brush up on my picture quoting skills.....

Oh wait, I'm not talking about the one at Vero, we weren't allowed to watch it. I think it was some sort of secret party..... shhhh.

Now that's the cutest little scooter face ever!

We watched the boys last night. It was the first time that Jace didn't cry the entire time that Keeley and Kyle were gone. He actually had fun and played. When they got back from the movie, Keeley asked him if he played and he smiled, nodded his head and said ya!
I was so pleased!

I guess that's what happens when mom stays at home and Mimi is gone all the time and works as well....:sad2:

She only touched the cake when her fingers were helped into it. She inspected the squishiness a minute and then took off.

I'm sure both girls had fun, but Bella was one of the smallest, if not the smallest. She probably looked up into a sea of strange faces at some point and then it got to her a little bit. She was happy to finish her cupcake when we arrived.

I think Jill and I could do a pretty good job taking over the parties and activities at Vero. Maybe that should be our summer jobs? (Except that Jill already has to work her real job in the summer. :headache:)

We would have let you in at the circus party. ::yes:: It would have been fun to have Harper, Hunter, and Jace join the madness!

The kids should have posed with the original strong man in this picture!!!

Yeah, when we were at the camp setting up things earlier in the day, Bella said Jarvis could be at that station.

No surprise, Brandi has Sophie! She sure adores those girls!
It looks like Jarvis still isn't eating much. When is his competition?

She does adore the girls. :goodvibes

I'm not sure when his next show is. He ate chicken and a cheeseburger, but he didn't have cupcakes or ice cream cones.

Yay for Jace feeling right at home at your house. :cheer2: Sophie is fine staying with me, but she lights up in a special way when her Mommy reappears. She is as much a Mommy's girl as Jill was when she was little, so I can very much relate.

Sophie's party looks like it was quite a hit! It's hard to believe she is 1 already. Too funny that she wasn't interested in her birthday cake, you just never can tell how they are going to react.

Hope you have a great (if busy) week! We don't have too many extras going on right now. Still adjusting to school and trying to get ready for our big Disney trip in 12 days! We ran a bunch of errands this weekend trying to get everything we need so we can use next weekend to get mostly packed. I'm spending my lunch hour today shopping for a bathing suit - I will take any and all happy thoughts for that experience.

What a fun party!!! And too funny about that smash cake -- you just never know how they'll react. For Caroline's 1st birthday she just kept looking at us like "You mean I can eat that?!" Lol

Poor Bella at the Vero party - that's kind of odd that parents couldn't stay, yes?

Sounds like you have a busy week!! Praying that goes fast for you & Saturday is here before you know it. :)
