Gymboree - I don't get it!

Gymbo the same quality as target. :rotfl2:

Thats almost the funniest thing I heard today.

I love Gymboree clothes. I got a couple nice lines when DS was younger but now with DD I buy there alot more.

As another pp stated, I love that everything matches. No need to search everywhere for something, because its all right there.

I love my kids to look nice and well dressed and Gymboree makes DD complete the look.

I buy my kids play clothes at Wal-Mart and Target.

all I can say is if I see any more fruit designs for girl clothes:scared1: If I ever buy any thing there I wait for clearance. I like gap, old navy, the best.

Whoever said Gymboree clothes are the same quality as Target and Walmart is simply nuts :scared1: . I really don't like to pay full price for Gymboree clothes for my kids but the quality is the best. Clothes I bought my DD last year that she wore all year long still wash up and look barnd new, same with DS clothes too. Even clothes I have bought the kids from Gap, Old Navy, Children's Place, Limited too, and Justice don't even come close to Gymbo quality. Target stuff (play clothes) shrinks and stain's don't come out and I use Tide. Just goes to say you get what you pay for. I love the girls clothes at Gymboree much more than the boys and will be sad when DD8 refuses to wear it anymore. I still buy most of DS4 clothes there because of the quality.

I must have purchased inferior quality clothes at Gymboree because they have faded after only handful of wearings! And they wrinkle like crazy! I wash them in my All small and mighty for my HE washer and I've only dried them in the dryer once. I'm regretting what I paid for them, that's for sure!

I'm really glad that no one else seems to have this issue though! Honestly! If I had a girl though, I admit, I'd have a REALLY huge problem staying out of there! The clothes are soooo cute!

I have a very young son (15 months) and he wears almost exclusively Gymboree. I have purchased a lot second hand for fall, and every piece has been perfect- even pieces from 2003 & 2004. I do buy new lines at the stores, and pretty much agree with what others have said. On sale & with coupons they send out, you can get stuff for the same as Target or cheaper. But, the quality is truly much higher than Target or Walmart. I have had a couple things stain just because something bled on them, but my friend gave me an idea of something to use to get it out.

I love that the style of the clothes is age appropriate. I love Gap also, but DS looks so much older in their clothes than he does in gymboree!

I would much rather spend the money to get something I love and that I can pass down to future children.

I am a Gymbo addict as well. That being said, the Canadian clothes are better quality than U.S. clothes - I live in a border city and have bought the exact same pieces in both countries. Different countries of origin for where clothes were made, and the U.S. ones have shrunk a bit or lost their shape, whereas our Canadian Gymbo clothes do not at all. For this reason, I don't buy any Gymbo clothes in the U.S. as I stated though, as I find our Canadian Gymbo clothes are better quality - if washing is followed properly, they don't shrink and last forever! That being said, they are still much better than Target or Walmart - not even in the same league in regards to quality or styles, IMHO.

The fact is that Gymbo gives clothes away as stuff is always on sale - I only buy Christmas clothes at full price as I always get Gymbucks to spend later, but everything else I buy on sale. My kids are pretty much 100% Gymboree - undergarments, socks, accessories, clothes, some shoes, jammies, coats, etc. They have the best boys clothes - not sure what people are talking about in regards to boys' styles? My friends buy junk at Walmart and Child's Place that falls apart and they spend more than I do at Gymboree! If you know how to work Gymboree properly, you will get the best deals. My local Gymboree puts stuff away for me and treats us absolutely fabulously - we all love shopping there!

Awesome styles, clothes and service. Love, love, love Gymboree:lovestruc . Tiger

they have some cute things but Im not crazy over them. dd is going on 9 and pretty much not into their style anymore. ds really never has been besides the occasional FD tshirts and sweatshirts.. I used to love their matching outfits when dd was younger but I enjoyed shopping at TCP too. I dont see lower quality in TCP and dd is still wearing some of her size 5T shorts from 3 years ago that have held up well. I have had problems with Gymbo and staining in the past but I only buy items on sale so it doesnt bother me as much if I paid full price for it.. :confused3

I wanted to agree with a previous poster - the other thing about Gymboree is so many other kids are wearing it, at least for where my kids go to school, there is nothing "special" about wearing Gymboree, the same stuff other kids are wearing. Whereas where I'm at, no one know of Naartjie, so I'm able to dress my kids in really cool, stylish, well made clothes that I get for amazing prices and never have to worry about some other kid wearing the same outfit...

i AGREE, i HAVE A DD3 AND I LOVE TO DRESS HER IN CUTE CLOTHES...BUT THEY ARE WAY BEYOND MY BUDGET - I WAIT TILL I FIND THEIR CLOTHES AT YARD SALES.....

I LOVE THE CHILDRENS PLACE

I love Gymboree.

The first thing I ever bought there was a baby gift for a friend about 8 years ago ... I knew NOTHING and paid $45 for the outfit (hat, onesie, socks).:scared1:

Then, I had my girls and discovered the red hot dot sale (now red balloon sale), Gymbucks and couponing. I think everything my DD4 wore this summer was from Gymboree. Seriously. I spent about $100 the day after Christmas and got shorts, skirts, shirts and dresses for the summer ... I had a 20% off coupon and the dresses ended up being $6.49 or something ridiculous like that. I got complete outfits (top, bottom and hair accessory) for around $10.

But, if I had boys ... I don't know. Part of the appeal of Gymboree for me is the hairbows, socks, tights, etc.

I only have girls and the key to gymbo is knowing when the sales are and also applying a 20% coupon on top of the sale. The prices can be dirt cheap that way. Gymbo is about all I buy for my girls because everything matches from head to toe (hair clips/socks/tights), and I have never paid remotely close to full price. Gymbofriends is a great site that keeps me updated on upcoming sales and promos.

I love Gymbo. I buy lots of clothes for DD(6). 90% of what I buy is from the Gymbo outlet here on LI, NY, I shop at TCP outlet, Gap Outlet, etc. I never pay full price for her clothes DS(12) is a different story. When DS was younger he wore Gymbo & I think the clothes were very different the. As for the quallity it's still great just that the boys line has changed. I have some outfits of his that I saved (I have no idea what i'll do with them) & they look so little but are still in great shape. Now DS wears a size 11 shoe, mens medium) & he pretty much wears Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Aeropostale & American Eagle ONLY. The quality is ok but IMHO nothing compares to GYMBO. I long for the days of 60% or more off @ GYMBO.

I also LOVE HANNAH! I used to drive to Bronxville to go to the store & that store closed, there is one in the Westchester mall- haven't been in awhile- just might have to go on a road trip.

I use to be a huge Gymbo Addict spending a lot a money, but I only purchase during really good sales, Gymbuck Earnings and Redemption and always use coupons, that way I have pretty much getting the clothes for 50% off!!!

I have three kids and I usually only buy for my DD because the boy stuff is kinda babyish for a 7 & 9 yr old. Sometime they come out with some stuff that will work like thier shark & pirate lines.

As of late I think thier lines have been pretty crappy. I went last week trying to buy stuff and couldn't find anything I like. I am not sure if I am just over Gymbo or if their recent lines just aren't that great!!! Which I guess is really good for me because I have saving lots of $ now. :cool1:

To the poster who asked about Hanna Andersson...I check their site at least once a week. Even if you get the e-mails about their sales, they run out of sizes super fast. I think the e-mails go out about a day after the sale has been posted online. They always do a big sale around father's day and one in January. Those two sales are great deals!

Hope that helps!

I agree Gymboree is way to expensive for my blood. Now get me in Osh Kosh thats a totally different story. I can't get out of that place without buying something. Then they give you those $10.00 play cards to get you to come back. I just can't let them go to waste, it's like throwing a $10 bill in the trash. Lately I've become convinced that their "sale prices" aren't that great. You can get kids clothes for the same as their "sale" prices at Walmart everyday, but I HATE shopping at the evil empire that is Walmart.

Maybe that's it. Maybe if I had girls, I'd understand. Their boys' stuff seems too "little boy-ish" for me. I've always dressed my boys like little men, no cutesie stuff. I've bought a couple of things at second-hand stores with construction equipment on it, but beyond that, we're better off with Old Navy, Oshkosh, Children's Place.

I thought I was the only one like that. My ds never wore pastel blue and after his first birthday my dh forbid him from wearing anything with snaps around the legs. That was hard because my ds is very small for his age.

My kids haven't been gymboree age for years - but their clothes would go through three or four kids - easily. We'd get hand me downs from my cousin, one of my kids would wear them, we'd pass them down to another cousin, they'd get worn - and they'd still be in good enough shape to sell on eBay.

Or I'd get them at a garage sale, kids would wear them, and they'd still be in good enough shape for another run or two.

Occationally, I'd buy them off the clearance rack.

As I said, my kids are past Gymboree age, but if their clothes still have that sort of quality, and you are getting them through a few kids - they are better than Target which gets one kid through one summer.

I am not trying to start a fight but please tell me you are exagerating when you say you husban "forbade" you to dress your son in snap pants. I could dress my kids in pantaloons and I don't think he have noticed. I find it sad that we have to have our kids grow up so fast that we can't even dress them in baby clothes-snaps are so diapers can come off and on easier, I really hope he did some diapering after he told you how to dress your son!

I don't get the any brand name thing. My kids wore what they wore, thrift stores, whatever. They will have their whole lives to dress in designer clothes.

I like to dress my boys as children (not little teens) and Gymboree allows me to do it! I never spend full price. Their sales are usually fantastic as is the outlet!

hmmm..am i the only one who doesnt see a correlation between putting kids in jeans and polo shirts and making them grow up too quick:confused3

i really dont think that not wanting your sons to wear bears and crocodiles means they will be bypassing their childhood. give me a break, some of us just dont think those clothes are cute:confused3
