Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Sorry if this has been asked and answered I’ll be booking the LL both multi and single pas for our family of 5. One is a 6 year old who is not tall enough for some rides. Can I book something like expedition Everest for 3 members only while I’m making the day’s LL for all 5 of us. Or do I have to book everyone and them try to modify for the 2 who won’t be riding?
Just be aware that you won’t “unlock” more Tier 1’s or hopping until you scan in for your first LL. (Not relevant at AK). For example, if three in your party use LL on Space Mountain first and the other two do the people mover, only the three who used a LL would be able to try for another Tier 1. In that case, the other two might want to book and use a LL for Speedway. It would only be a consideration if the height limited ride is your first LL of the day.

I purchased single and multi lighting lane passes for our 6 days trip, June 1-6. I found it highly worth it as we didn't wait in line very long for any attractions. In fact our longest wait was probably waiting the bus to go to the parks. I think it did help that we visited EPCOT and Magic Kingdom 2 days so I was able to spread out the tier one rides. I think it also helped that we stayed later at Magic Kingdom as the availability for rides was later evening.

June 1 - EPCOT, this was our arrival day and were only there for a few hours in the afternoon/evening.
Nemo
Spaceship Earth
Soarin'
Guardians
Living with the Land - after scanning into first ride

June 2 - Hollywood Studios, I didn't get the times I wanted at first, but I was able to get earlier times for these rides by checking the app several times a day. We weren't interested in doing Rockin' Roller Coaster or TOT.
Toy Story Mania
Slinky Dog
Alien Saucers
Rise of the Resistance
Runaway Railway - after scanning into first ride
Smugglers Run - after scanning into second ride
Star Tours - after scanning into third ride
Muppets - after scanning into fourth ride - really didn't need

June 3 - EPCOT - we rode Frozen and Spaceship Earth during early entry
Remy
Figment
Spaceship Earth
Guardians
Soarin' - after scanning into first ride
Living with the Land - after scanning into second ride

June 4 - Magic Kingdom - we didn't arrive until late afternoon
Buzz
Jungle Cruise
Winnie the Pooh
Tron
Dumbo - after scanning in at first ride
Pirates - after scanning in at second ride
Little Mermaid - after scanning into third ride
Peter Pan - after scanning into fourth ride
Space Mountain - after scanning in at fifth ride

June 5 - Animal Kingdom - we arrived right before lunch
Na'vi
Everest
Safari
FOP
Dinosaur - after scanning into first ride
Kali Rapids - after scanning into second ride
June 6 - Magic Kingdom - this was our last day and was only in the park from 10-2 with an hour eating breakfast at Crystal Palace, I could have booked more if we were staying later.
Haunted Mansion
Pirates
Tiana
7DMT

I am doing a HS morning and MK afternoon. I want to get Tiana’s so I’m going to book LLs for MK, if I book say small work for 9am at MK and just let it expire can I book a LL same day at HS? Or since I didn’t tap in I can’t?

No. You must tap into your first LL in order to open the ability to book additional LLs, LLs at other parks and the tier system.

Allowing your first LL to expire does NOT open the functionality above.

If you look at Thrill Data, Tiana has the most consistent day of releases.

I would book HS morning and then mark my calendar to pick up one of the Tiana drops for later in the day.

If we buy lightning lane multipass for Epcot primarily to ride Frozen... after riding Frozen that day, could we modify our other 2 Epcot selections to Magic Kingdom rides instead? There aren't any other Epcot rides we really want to do. Anyone know what Frozen wait times look like at 8:30 or 9:00am? We would have early entry but not sure we would actually make it on time!

Once you tap into any LL at the park you purchased LLMP for, you can modify your remaining LL reservations without Tier or Park restrictions. So, yes, you can modify those two remaining Epcot LLs to any available MK LLs. You can also book a replacement for Frozen.

Frozen's wait times over the past month can be found on this webpage: https://www.thrill-data.com/waits/attraction/epcot/frozeneverafter/

Yes, you can modify the LLs to MK. Be aware that you may not get any popular ride at MK on the day of.

Hello!!

I’ve been watching videos and looking at various strategies and I feel like I have a good idea of my strategy on booking day. The one thing that’s confusing me is the idea of “burner” rides. I get that the idea is to book anything you can as early as you can so you can immediately open up more tier one but the problem is there may not be many or any tier one left on the day of. Seems like a better strategy is to book the rides you want even if later in the day and ‘fiddle faddle’ rather than use a burner. For example if I’m booking Hollywood Studios and I am lucky enough to get slinky, TSM and ToT, even if it is later than I want isn’t that better than a burner ride? Maybe I am missing something.

Travelling in August, and will be buying LLMP for 1 member of our party (we have DAS for the rest of the group). Never used LLMP before so I have 3 questions, and hoping someone can help.......

1 - can you ride the same attraction twice using LLMP if there is availability, or is it only once per ride, per day?
2 - will MDE let me only buy for one person in our party, or would we have to buy for all?
3 - park hopping- if we start off in AK, then ove to AK, does the LLMP move with us, even though LLMP costs more for MK?

Thanks for any and all help!

Once per attraction per day.

Only loophole here is if a ride goes down and you get a Multi Experience Pass. MEPs are essentially outside the LLMP system: whichever ride went down is still considered available for you to pull a new LL *and* the ride you use MEP for you can also pull a LL.

will MDE let me only buy for one person in our party, or would we have to buy for all?

You can purchase for just one.

You pay the cost of the first park and then can hop at no additional charge. So, you get a "deal" buying at AK and then hopping to MK, in so much as anything at Disney is ever a deal. 🤣

The problem with booking everything later in the day is that you lock yourself out of ANY use of LLMP before then.

I'd rather have at least ONE LLMP early in the morning because once you tap into that attraction you can start looking immediately for another, and then "fiddle faddle" with that one to get on the attraction(s) you want. Even LLMP's for tier 2 attractions can save a significant amount of time. Time is money at WDW. Maybe you'll even get lucky and snag another Tier 1 after checking into that first early LLMP. Pushing everything later gives you ZERO chance of anything until you tap into that first one, and also locks you out of any possibility of another Tier 1 until then

IMO, it depends on how important the rides you select are to you and how willing you are to wait in line for a specific ride.

If those are your "absolute, must do" attractions, and you can snag all three with LLMP, I don't see a problem with it. Having an early "throw away ride" gives you the CHANCE that you can get on another desired ride later with little to no wait.

Of course, all rides give you the option of riding standby, so you could use that. The more LLs you get, the less waiting in line you have to do. So if you get your three and can select another 1-2, that's 5 rides with no (or little) wait. If your three aren't until the afternoon, those are probably the only three you're going to get.

Only the very most popular Tier 1s (Remy, Tiana, Slinky Dog) book up like that. Everything else is wide open because people can only prebook 1 Tier 1 attraction. Tier 2s sell out faster because you can prebook 2. Popular T2s will have later times for that reason. That’s the piece of this you’re missing.

Even the most popular ones are obtainable IF you tap in early enough to unlock yourself. Disney drops additional inventory 7 am the day of and peoples plans shift. The problem with booking everything later is that you’ll be locked in during the time of highest availability, in the morning.

Good morning tomorrow is my day to book lighting lanes, I was wondering if I have a park hopper and I have a muli pass for Hollywood studios and book for the morning do I need to add an MK multi pass for at nt? Or is that just automatic? Thank you!!!

Once you tap in at your first HS LL, you will have the option to book LL at any park. One LLMP covers the whole day. If you want LLSP for Tron, you should prebook that.

Ok great! Thats what I was thinking but wanted to be sure! Oh definitely Tron. It’s been 3 years since we’ve been back and things have changed. I want to be fully prepared. I honestly wasn’t sure if we were even getting a hopper. But to me it’s like an insurance policy. It’s just going to be so hot! So I’m trying to plan our easiest strategies. Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Just wanted to report a situation that happened yesterday that I found a little frustrating in case it helps someone else out! Did MK in the morning. 1st LL was Pirates at 9:20. 2nd was Haunted Mansion at 10:20. Rope dropped Space Mountain and headed to Pirates but it was down. I got a replacement LL but couldn’t pick another. I thought that if I used it quickly that I would be able to pick another so I wasted it on It’s a Small World but still couldn’t pick another after tapping in. Ran around trying to find a blue umbrella and they let me know that I wouldn’t be able to pick another LL until I used one that I actually picked, so that would be after using Haunted Mansion at 10:20. Pretty much wasted about an hour and a half. Luckily I was still able to get the next 2 LLs that I had wanted after tapping in for Haunted Mansion but if my 2nd LL wasn’t until much later in the day I would have been out of luck.
