Gymboree - I don't get it!

yes i have bought some crazy 8's and no where near the quality of gymboree, it is like old navy to gap so that explains the difference,
"As the mom of a 6 year old, it is hard to find traditional/preppy looking "little girl" clothes. Once you get into the size 7 and up clothes, there is a definite shift to a pre-teen look. I'm not ready for that yet" that is why i like gymboree, i would also suggest hanna , some boutique brands i like are mis tee-vus, flap happy , alot of those brands still let our little girls look like little girls;)
as far as "herd-following zombie" that is why i shop in gymboree, because i want them to look different not like the "sheep" wearing the same tees.

and the main reason i said was not because i needed someone to tell me my daughter was cute it was "the main reason is because i like my little girls (7 & 3) to look like little girls,"
so no i don't need gymboree to make my daughter cute, i shop everywhere but it is easier to shop at gymboree, because they offer other things to wear other than glitter graphic tees that say something about homework or selling a lil brother ,:surfweb:

it must be a regional thing. i have no problem finding clothes for my 8yo daughter. all of the stores around here sell more than t shirts.
im surprised that you compare gymboree to gap. im glad i dont shop at gym then, i dont think gap has quality clothes. i find their clothes fall apart after a few washings. the boys jeans are horrible. old navy is a million times worse. their clothes dont even fit right. i guess if gym and crazy 8 are the same as those, i dont wnat to shop there.
ill stick to my LLbean and lands end.

I bought alot of stuff from there when my kids were younger. Both of my kids are quite slim and I found Gymboree clothing to be a good fit on them. That being said I only bought there when items were on sale. I did find the quality pretty good, and the one pair of jeans I had issues with they were quick to refund me on even though it was many months after I purchased them.

By saying that you prefer "hip, modern clothes" this can be construed as an insult to those of us who like Gymboree - you seem to be insinuating that Gymboree is not hip or modern. Again, I beg to differ. Their clothes for the most part could be considered more traditional, but like I stated before, I have a Tommy Hilfiger shirt that was a gift, and a Gymboree shirt, that are identical - do you consider Tommy Hilfiger to be hip or trendy?

Replace "hip, modern clothes" with "trendy clothes" and it makes more sense and feels less insulting. Nothing wrong with trendy - some people like it, some people don't. Nothing wrong with traditional/classic either - again, some people like it and some people don't. Trendy/popular designers like Tommy Hilfiger can still put out traditional clothing styles, so that's kind of a non-issue.

I have 2 girls and sadly, my older DD is 8 and "too old" for Gymboree as she puts it :rotfl:

I do have to say though that I've been a HUGE Gymboree supporter/fan over the last 7 yrs or so....

I NEVER buy anything full price there-always wait for Circle Of Friends 30% off, Gymbucks, etc....

That being said, the girls' clothes are very high quality and last forever-whatever I bought for my older DD, my younger DD wore 2 yrs later and it still looked like new! Then, once she was done, I either give it to my cousin's DD or ebay it and make back a decent amount of $$ to buy more Gymboree stuff for my almost 6 yr old dd :rotfl: :rotfl:

I did bring some things to a kids' consignment store last week and the owner's eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas Morning..... she paid me outright a nice sum rather than actually consigning it

Love Gymboree! :thumbsup2

I like Gymboree and used to buy it occassionally when my daugher was little. It is very expensive though. She is 10 now and it is hard to find clothes for her that are appropriate for her age in my opinion. Everything looks like it was made for a 16 yr old. I usually shop at JC Penney's or Kohl's.

Hanna is more $$ than I want to spend. I love it - and do buy on sale - but it is an investment. LOL. I'll have to check out those others, thanks!

Do you guys see the new markdowns on the Petite Mademoiselle line? $6.99 shirts and cardigans, pants are $6.99-$9.99, skorts/skirts are $12.99-$14.99. GREAT deals, especially if you have a coupon (The one that was in the Parents magazine expires today, the Plum magazine one is still valid). Where else can you get cardigans for $5?!?! I just ordered, and got nine items (three complete outfits for my 4 year old!) AND a gymbuck for $59 shipped! :dance3:

heading there now! thanks!

I've never been a fan of Gymboree for my little man. :confused3
(Couldn't get enough of it for my daughter, though. She loved having undies that matched her outfit and hairbow, but she's a girly-girl princess: and that was right up her alley!)

One company I do love, though, is Mini Boden. :lovestruc They have a website and catalog.

Similar to Hanna's...a little pricier than say, Target or Kohls, but fabulously super excellent quality. Slightly funky or edgy or whatever you want to call it, but not weird or too grown-up and definately not cookie cutter. My 6 year old feels like a big boy in these clothes, but then again, he's never been into puppies and stuff like that. I also buy a lot of Ralph Lauren (from our outlet mall, of course!) for him.

I know alot of the Gymboree fanatics love that they have set collections where everything matches and goes together. I can't stand this I bought my son the collections for fall last year and I felt like he looked as though he was dressed in the same outfit each day... I like a to mix it up a little I don't want everything to match and have a match... :confused3 I love Hanna Andersson though!!!!!!!!! :lovestruc

I loved this feature because, at the time, DD just would not wear jeans. So if you have to come up with "outfits" instead of "tops and jeans," it's a lot easier if you have, say 2 or 3 tops that go with 2 bottoms, instead of 7 individual "outfits." But yes, you can easily get carried away and end up very mitchy-matchy.
