Guaranteed Connecting Rooms

Hi,

Back in 2001, we stayed in 2 rooms at ASMo, and they guaranteed connecting rooms for us as we had young children. Does anyone know if Disney will still guaranty connecting rooms?

We just got back from All Star Movies yesterday, after a wonderful ten-day vacation. We had connecting rooms and they were guaranteed for us. We also asked for pool side and close to the food court, but they first guaranteed the connecting rooms and then the pool and food court were done at check-in. I am elderly and my DD, DSiL, and two DGDs have one room and I am in the connecting room and this is about the sixth time we had this and it has always been satisfied. Have fun..... Of course, my two DGDs slept in the other double bed in my room.... this is always fun for us.

1) No room or room category or resort at WDW is guaranteed!
2) No matter what it says on the ressie.
3) On the other hand, they will do their best.

Disney will say the guarantee connecting rooms, but what that means is that you will get connecting rooms, unless something unforseen happens. Technically, if you have 2 adults you could be split into 2 rooms that do not connect, because an adult could be in each room with the children. Usually that won't happen, but if something rare does happen like a pipe breaking and a large block of rooms end up out of commission, you could end up with 2 rooms that don't connect. Again, that does not happen very often, but it does happen.

I was "guaranteed" connecting rooms on my ressies, but when we got there , we found out they had given us 2 adjoining rooms. I understand that just because we are a family of 5 and my DH could have stayed in a separate room with my DS, that is not the way I had envisioned spending my vacation. When I told them at check in that I wanted to put the 3 kids in 1 room(they are 16,13 and 6) and my DH and I in the connecting room, the CM made a phone call and found us connecting rooms. This was at POP.

No matter what the reservation says, there is no such thing as guaranteed connecting rooms at Disney or any other hotel for that matter. In addition, bed type, smoking preference, etc are also requests and as such are not guaranteed. While not at Disney, I caught enough flack during my days at a front desk telling people they had to have a queen instead of a king size bed. I cant imagine the grief CMs get when a guest cant be provided their guaranteed non-guaranteed connecting rooms....
