We will be driving from Missouri for the first time and would like to get groceries. We wil be coming down the Florida turnpike and getting on I-4. Not sure if we should do a walmart or grocery store like publix or super target. Where do you go and why? Thanks for your help...we are excited and nervous about driving!

Not sure where you are staying, we always stay at AKL and drive to the Publix that is close by. It has really good produce and is not too expensive.
You can also order food from Garden Grocer and they will go to Publix and pick up you food for you then deliver it to the hotel.

We will be staying at VWL. We have used garden grocer before but wanted to get our own groceries since we will have a car. I've noticed that alot of people like publix. Does it have a great selection and prices?

I hear there is a new Publix at 7880 Winter Garden Vineland Rd. which would be pretty close to VWL. I can't find it on the Publix website though.

We have been to this Super Target several times http://sites.target.com/site/en/spo...ingLong=-81.50729370117188&_requestid=3525219

There is a Publix right across the highway from it and we've been there too. It's a lot small than the Super Target so easier for a quick trip to pick up just a couple of things.

Friends don't let friends take I4! :scared1:

Seriously, if you are on the turnpike, take 429 instead. If you are going to do your grocery run on the way in, get off at 192 and go to this Publix:

Publix Super Market, 14928 E Orange Lake Blvd, Kissimmee, FL 34747

There is a Super Target right across the street.

Then you can continue on 192 and turn on World Drive. Or you could get back on 429 and exit at Western Way. Or take 192 to Sherbeth Road and get on property thataway.

In the past, we avoided all toll roads, as well as I4, and we took I75 and meandered over to 27 south. If you do that, there is a nice setup of Publix, CVS, Walgreens, and McDonalds in Clermont. A bit less crowded than the one on 192. However, since the turnpike to 429 was just so slick this last time, it is our new route of choice. :)

THIS! Exactly!

Here's a map of various shopping options in the immediate area.

In general we found the Publix to be more expensive than we were expecting. Everything was more expensive than our local Shoprites in NY/NJ. Of course it's still cheaper than buying from Disney on-site.

We like Winn Dixie. If you exit out from the DTD area, make a left at the Crossroads shopping center, it's just a few lights down on the right. :thumbsup2
