Great stay at the Contemporary

Just got back from a week at the Contemporary and wanted to provide my comments for the board since I learned so much here.

We had our own little magic when we arrived. We had reservations in the garden wing and were upgraded to the Tower overlooking the pool. I loved the view and we got to see the Electric Water Pagent every night to my DD's delight.

This was a first stay at a resort on the monorail and can say how much we enjoyed that. It was hope on the rail and get to EPCOT or MK without any waiting for the buses. We even got to ride a loop in the front of the monorail with a great driver who chatted away. I've got great pictures!

Mousekeeping was great to us. My DD had her AG doll with her and every day the doll was doing something different. When we came back from a day at the park she was reading a book, watching TV, even getting ready to take a shower! The last day there the mousekeeper wrote us a really lovely thank you note which was actually kind of odd because I was only tipping about $1.50/person a day with only 3 of us. Does that mean hardly anyone tips? She did a great job. The floor was vacuumed every day (we know because we would eat muffins at the end of the bed and there were usually crumbs on the floor, thus the good tip). We got more soap and shampoo than we could possibly use.

The Grab and Go had ok food, we only ate breakfast there in the morning. Though it did have a cheese, cracker and fruit snack that was good and helped tide us over until dinner. One comment on dining. I realized that I need to make reservations for the special restaurants but I don't like to be that planned for every meal. But after the first night when we didn't have reservations and could only grab a burger at a CS restaurant, I went down to the consierge and made reservations for every free night that we had left in our stay. The meal plan really causes the TS places to book up and makes it so you can just go out to eat without any planning.

The construction was not that noticeable but there are big panels up everywhere hiding it. It should look pretty good by December.

The parks were fun and surprisingly crowed given it was October. And what was with all those strollers. I understand you need them for young children, but most seemed to be carrying 8+ year olds. I saw more stollers and scooters than I have ever seen at DW before. The walkways were fulled of parked strollers. I know that people need them but it sure clogs up the walking traffic.

If you have any questions, I'll try to answer.

Yours,
JC

HI We are heading to the CR for the first time in November. Would love to see any pics you may have!!

Glad you had a nice time! I'm probably amoung the few, but I LOVED our Bay Lake view. It was so relaxing to look over at FW or WL.

Thanks for the nice report, I love the Contemporary. I am glad you had a great stay.

It is so nice to hear a positive report about good mousekeeping at the CR! We will be there in December!

I like the point you made about deciding to make your ADRs after the first night - bite the bullet and get the ADRs for TS especially with children who can pick up on parents' frustration about meals.

Going to the desk and setting up meals is a great solution, also if you are already in a park, stop in at guest services or a podium to try for an ADR. Waiting until you are ready to eat is NUTS.

Shhh, don't mention how kids use strollers instead of walking. You'll open up a whole flame war. My theory is that the things are multiplying on their own. lol

glad to hear you enjoyed your time at CR!

we were there last september - MK view - loved it!!!!
