I was so excited to watch and then found out 2 key characters were cast with actors I don't really care for (Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo and Carlos Penavega as Kenickie). I hope they do the roles justice. I just love Grease tho, so bet it will be fun no matter what.

I will definitely watch. My 12 year just did Grease last summer at her musical theatre day camp so she is looking forward to it.

I really like Aaron Tveit so I am looking forward to seeing him as Danny.

Not sure I'll watch. I did love the John Travolta/Olivia Newton-John movie but I cannot say I'm a fan of the theme. It's a really horrible message. Perhaps I sound like a prude but it didn't mean much to me at age 13 when the movie was released as it does as a 51 yr old mother. Who is the actor who is playing Danny Zuko? He looks familiar but I can't place him.

It is a horrible message, and I don't care for Julianne or Vanessa, but all I needed was Aaron cast as Danny and nothing would keep me from watching. Any chance to hear him sing, and I am there!

We are watching. I plan to pick up Steak and Shake and bring it home so we can be all theme-y with the food without me having to cook. :-)

Looking forward to it. Watched a few of the videos. I have to admit the new hand jive moves seem a little weird. But maybe at speed, with the song, it will make more sense.

I admit it is a little weird and I felt odd watching it after kids.y children have never seen the movie.

That said, the rendition will bridge the movie with the show. And songs with more concerning lyrics a will be using the versions for high school production to be a little more family friendly. But it doesn't cover up the other themes. We will still watch. My two oldest saw Mama Mia in the theater. Lol. I loved it so much and took them and didn't catch that maybe the idea of a mom having been with 3 men around the same time was probably not the best message to expose them to at such a young age. Oops.

I agree that the message is bad when you see it as an adult versus a child. I loved it as a child and never thought about the message as I do now. When I watched the movie with my kids this year, I used it as a teaching moment and talked about my DD about how we don't change get someone to like us.In the camp version, they did changed all the questionable lyrics in the songs.

I don't care about the "message". And they'll clean up the lyrics to be family friendly. Sometimes, though, a musical is just a musical. Both my kids saw it as young teens and it didn't scar them for life. My elder DD was in her high school version, playing Rizzo, ahd i dont recall having to sit her down for a special " talk". Can't wait to see it.

Same here! Wasn't terribly interested because I love the original so much, but I LOVE Aaron Tveit so I'll be watching!

I am really excited about this! It probably wont match the original, but I think it has the potential to be a lot of fun. I have been wondering why more people are not talking about it. I signed up for Hulu because apparently it will be available on there. My chances of picking it up off over the air are slim because I live in a bad location.

I know I go full on nerd when it comes to stuff like this. :woohoo:

I was so ticked, we have Uverse and right now they are in a battle with our local Fox affiliate since mid-January, so I was going to miss it.
But, thankfully we have Apple TV and theres a Foxnow channel. I won't be able to watch live, but hopefully I can see it by Monday.

Can't wait.

I'm planning to watch. I enjoyed the film, and have seen a few live productions of it.

Aaron Tveit is playing Danny. You can Google him to see his list. Loved him as Enjolras and in Assasins in London. I don't have a tv so can't watch it and don't like the "you gotta put out to get what you want" message. I worry as there are some girls who don't know it's just a play.

Oh, please, again with "the message". When I was a kid I was obsessed with Grease. The music, the dances, John Travolta (first major crush) and Olivia Newton-John. I saw it eight times in the theater. I would have seen it more times, had I been allowed to.
I never once looked for "the message". I just wanted a little fun, OK? Bit everyone kept lecturing me about "the message". Can't young people (and everyone else) have fun without a lesson in everything? is is OK to have some mindless fun?

By the way, neither I, or anyone else who loved Grease back then turned into a *lut because of the movie.

Seriously? You know girls who see people dancing and singing on TV or on a stage and they don't know its just a play? Bless their hearts.

Don't you ever hear people blaming tv, music etc for the way kids behave? Apparently there are impressionable kids out there.
