We just did that in late April and we all loved it. There were 9 of us on the tour from
DCL. We got a 10:45 tour and since we docked early, before 7 am, we had early breakfast, and walked off ship at 8:30 am, got to the stores a bit before they were actually opened, waited a few mins. And did our shopping. Most of the stores open at 9 am, weekdays. We were back on board at 10:15 and headed to our meet area onboard after we dropped off our stuff. We left again for the tour, boarded a small bus, and our driver also gave a tour about where we were passing on the way there (and back too). He was great. When we got to Graycliff we were greeted by Coco our tour guide, she was awesome. We got our coveralls and hair nets and off we were to make chocolate. Coco actually had us make MM ears and helped everyone. It was fun and DS had a blast. Coco actually gave DS (the only child on the tour) the chocolate pieces she made, so he was super thrilled. We had 4 boxes of chocolate to take home, plus the extra we bought at the shop. We went back to the bus, a few mins. later back at the port, and on the ship by 1 pm. The reason I loved this was because we wanted to go to 2 stores, and managed to do it early and then do our excursion. It was perfect because by the time the tour was over 2 more ships came in and the streets and straw market were packed. People everywhere, thank goodness we were leaving, I couldn't imagine going back to shop with all the crowds and melting chocolate. Keep that melting chocolate in mind when your done, because it is fresh chocolate and it will melt if it is slightly hot out. Still have some in the refrigerator and DS is eating it slowly so he can keep the memory going LOL.
It was fun, perfectly timed, and super tasty. Note: they give shredded coconut, granola, chips etc.. To decorate your chocolate. Don't use it all up on the first piece you make. We made several, I remember a a full bar, MM ears, our name, bonbons and something else I think. So make the decorating elements last. I used all my coconut on my bar and was out of luck for the bonbons.
