something seems afoot

Interesting. It certainly seems like they are back to enhancing the resorts which is a good sign travel is coming back for them.

Can you imagine if it’s another new DVC tower? Could explain why they rolled the new resort studios into current VGF. They will build a new one with new association on the other side!!!

Although wouldn’t it be cool if they announced something big to really improve grand Floridian and elevate the resort even more

a lazy River, new food options

I also can’t imagine the grand convention center is doing brisk business these days. That could become something although not a good place for rooms as the views suck in all directions

I can’t imagine this is dvc related, rather a potential refresh or even a retheming of the entire resort

im thinking some major Mary poppins designs to start showing up given what we are seeing in the resort studios.
Maybe this permit is to replace retail space with another restaurant or perhaps some sort specialty food shop (e.g. ice cream or pastries)?

The Grand Floridian gets a lot of foot traffic from visitors, yet their retail stores on the second floor never seem particularly busy.

Considering the long lines the Easter and Christmas seasonal food booths experience, wouldn’t a permanent baked goods store make a lot of sense?

I’d love an ice cream soda fountain shop, they could do something special

The article is really just a lot of speculation based on Disney applying for a building permit and naming two specific contractors.

The Beach Club’s Beaches & Cream is one of the toughest reservations to get, and the to-go window seems to always have a line, day or night.

With the Magic Kingdom so close, perhaps they could emulate that at the Grand Floridian.
A gf version of beaches would be a huge success. Add in Mary poppins theming

instant winner.

I’ll come to my gfv villa wearing sweat pants to make room for desert

Likely the hotel side, I agree. I wish they'd gut the main lobby and turn it into something as elegant as either the Hong Kong or Tokyo Disneyland Hotels.

As for Poppins: I'd like to think the symmetry is complete. The original VGF is themed to Mary Poppins whilst the Resort Studios are themed to Mary Poppins Returns.

They better not touch those gorgeous character silhouettes in the GF lobby floor if they do re-theme/reno the lobby!

Based upon feedback, the VGF3 studios will have 2 murphy beds, 2 oversized mini fridges and 2 microwaves each

You somehow omitted, "Based upon unprecedented guest demand, each and every mirror will have a tv-in-mirror like the VGF Deluxe Studios had in the bathroom." :thumbsup2

DH still grouses about their removal (even though the durn things only worked for a couple years after they were installed.) The man doesn't feel pampered enough without his shaving mirror tv. :confused3
