Grand Californian Super Thread

We asked on check-out day and the CL Concierge staff said access stops at check-out time. We didn't come back later and try to access. (It's a stupid rule and I hope they got rid of it. Disney World allows access on check-out day until the Club closes at all their hotels.)
Oh, its different in CA? That's what the difference is, I see.
Yea they should change it, I mean really its snacks and sodas. lol

Ooh, it’s not just an add-on to the CL, it’s a second Club! Seems like this would be an extremely noisy project, building all that? Might be something for 2025 stays to be aware of…

And a soft goods remodel for the hotel & DVC!

In addition to The Veranda concierge lounge at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, plans are underway for the hotel to add a second club-level lounge nearby.

This newly designed, two-story space will celebrate classic California Craftsman design and will be a perfect spot for lounging with a good book, relaxing with a glass of wine or admiring the hotel’s Great Hall lobby below. Continuing the hotel’s forest theme of the Great Hall lobby, the new concierge lounge will be inspired by giant sequoias and will be located high in the “treetops” of the 5th and 6th floors — an “aviary” where club level guests can relax, rest and “nest” in luxury and hospitality.

This space will continue the unique Californian Craftsman design by showcasing columns and arches inspired by the existing lobby architecture, wrought iron branching details, and beautiful hand-crafted tile murals. The flora and fauna will keep with the story of the sequoias.

Certain to be stunning, the lounge will be filled with natural light during the day and a golden glow at sunset from expansive skylights, with a two-story stained-glass door and a curved staircase leading to the mezzanine. This new space is slated for completion in 2026.

Disney’s Grand Californian to Add New Décor to Guest Rooms

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will begin refreshing all its guest rooms, including the Disney Vacation Club Villas. The décor will complement the rooms’ existing Arts & Crafts motif, yet will add new bold colors across the carpets, upholstery and bedding, with accents inspired by the beautiful California wildflower blooms often found in Impressionistic plein air paintings that helped define the art movement of the Arts and Crafts period and continue to inspire artists today. Most notably, each room will have new artwork that was commissioned from local plein air painters.

So if it’s going to over look the lobby (did I read that correctly?) what space is it taking over?

Was there any time frame when the refreshing of the guest room would start?

Thanks for the help regarding Veranda access after checkout. If anyone happens to be around the concierge desk in the next few days/weeks, I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd ask to confirm the rules. It'd be nice to be able to grab some snacks before we head to the airport in the afternoon!

So if it’s going to over look the lobby (did I read that correctly?) what space is it taking over?
The image shows a park view in the distance with hotel in front with claims it will overlook the lobby, so what is currently located against the windows of the lobby on the 5th & 6th floor that face DCA? (I don’t remember lol, been too long!)

And since this will overlook the lobby- this construction could be very noticeable through 2025…

This is a pretty quiet thread, if you don’t hear back before your trip make sure to report back with your experience!

Does the GCH have an event calendar like the resorts at WDW? Things like movie night, smores, crafts, pool events, etc? Last time we were there they'd just opened from Covid no events were happening, but I don't know if that is normal there.

Yes they do. When you check in, you can get a schedule for all activities at all the hotels (you can participate in all of them). I don't know how to access it before you arrive.

I apologize if this has been answered -- I looked but didn't see it. With the expansion I am seeing for the lounge it is saying 2026 opening. Is there a good chance a good amount of the rooms will be updated on the hotel side(regular not VGC) by the holidays? Does anyone know if they go in any type of order when it is updating?

Oh I forgot to ask does anyone know if the renovations of Napa Rose if it will affect the Princess Breakfast?

Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will soon begin refreshing all its guest rooms, including the Disney Vacation Club Villas at the resort. Mainly a soft goods refurbishment, the updated décor will complement the rooms’ existing Arts & Crafts aesthetic, while adding new, bold colors across the carpets, upholstery, and bedding.

Accents in these soft goods will be inspired by the California wildflower blooms found in Impressionistic plein air paintings that helped define the Arts & Crafts period. Each room will also see new artwork commissioned from local plein air painters.

We will be there on Tuesday and staying club - I can ask and will do my best to report back!

Seems to me a 2 story lounge is going to have to use guest rooms on 2 floors for the needed square footage.

I'm surprised that they want to reduce the number of rooms for that.
