Looking forward to hearing more popcorn::

Thanks for the review of Teppan edo! We are going there for the first time in August. Can you tell me more about the chocolate ginger cake? It looks good. Does it have a strong ginger taste? Thanks!:)

Great reviews! Your Teppan Edo review is making me rethink my decision not to book that for our upcoming trip. Can't wait to see more!

Hi everybody! Sorry for the delay, I was out and about all day today. So the Yak & Yeti...I was looking forward to this one. Everything on the menu sounded SO good. So I was a bit dismayed when we arrived and there was yet again a line to check in. This restaurant was crowded. People were packed in every bit of available space in the little lobby area of the restaurant and everyone was hot and sweaty from the awful weather we had that day. It also felt like there was no AC in this part of the building. Yuck!

So the good news...we had arrived early for our ADR and were seated early too! As we were led by the host to our table there was a blast of AC :cloud9: The restaurant itself was very well themed; you feel like you're really in an old Asian cafe and it almost feels like the same great theming used at Expedition Everest. The building is two storied and there's something to look at in every direction. Very well done. Our server was also great. Even though it felt like they were trying to stay as quick and efficient as possible to deal with the massive crowd, she chatted quite a bit with us and was very friendly and helpful in deciding on menu items. Now speaking of...

DSCN1094.jpg

DBF and I shared the Dim Sum basket because it counted as two appetizer credits. It contained pork pot stickers, little shrimp things that actually tasted very similar to the pork pot stickers, and then these two buns that are on the left. If you enjoy pot stickers, you'll enjoy these. The little buns are kind of hard to describe; they tasted like pot sticker shells on the outside and some kind of chewy bread on the inside. Different but good, especially with the lime dipping sauce.

DSCN1095.jpg

DBF had the duck. He really enjoyed it and ate every bit! I tried some too and it was quite good and not very dry at all.

DSCN1096.jpg

I had the Crispy Honey Chicken. Why, yes, it was as good as it sounds! My only qualm was that it wasn't actually crispy :confused3 That would have made it perfect, but it was still pretty darn close. I really liked the the honey sauce (nice and sweet)! I didn't eat much of the rice though, it was pretty bland and I'm not much of a rice person anyway.

DSCN1097.jpg

DBF was stuffed from the duck, so I recommended the sorbet as a nice, light dessert. The flavors were mango, raspberry, and lemon. He ate them up even though he was full, so they are pretty light, but also very flavorful. I tried some too and we both liked them :thumbsup2

DSCN1098.jpg

Looking at this picture really makes me want these fried wontons again! I was pretty full from the meal but I think my stomach made room for these :rotfl: The outside of the wontons tasted just like soft funnel cake and on the inside was some very creamy cream cheese (how repetitive)! The vanilla honey drizzle was sooo good too. Everything about this dessert was perfect. However, it actually only ranks number two on my Disney dessert list. What's number one? You'll find out soon!

Overall: Aside from the hot, crowded beginning, everything about this meal was perfect. The theming, the service (nice host, great server named "Lisa", very professional manager who stopped by our table to make sure our lunch was going well), the timing (everything ran very efficiently), and most importantly the food. Oh, I almost forgot to mention. I had noted the heat earlier...well, while we were eating paramedics with a stretcher came through, went upstairs, and brought a woman out who was suffering from heat exhaustion. Poor thing. While she was leaving, she made sure to tell everyone not to worry, it wasn't the food :rotfl2:

And an added bonus:
DSCN1093.jpg

Here's DBF with a frozen lemonade, I believe from Drinkwallah. He had one of these every day on the trip. One day he tried a frozen raspberry lemonade, but said he preferred the frozen lemonade. I thought they were a bit sour, but that's how he prefers them.

DSCN1092.jpg

We shared this Brownie Paw from Kusafiri Bakery. Yum! I think it tasted a little more cake-like, and it was really rich and moist. I don't think we could even finish it together. The paw print was made of thick, milk chocolate pieces. I think the frosting was buttercream. It was SO good and I think it was pulled from a fridge so it was also nice and cool on such a hot day.

Thanks for reading everybody! Up next: Narcoosee's

Thanks and welcome! Yep, the Coral Reef was definitely yummy!

I am really enjoying your great reviews!

Thank you! Glad to hear it!

Sure, I just called up DBF since he was the one who ate most of it. He said he really enjoyed it. It was a lighter cake, very smooth, especially the chocolate (which he said was also delicious). He said that the ginger taste was there, but it was very subtle and mostly overpowered by the chocolate. I hope that helps and I hope y'all enjoy Teppan Edo as much as we did!

Yak & Yeti was probably our favorite restaurant on our trip in December. And we definitely have it planned for August! Everything about the place is great. I agree that there is sooo much to look at in there, they did a great job w/ design.

Loving your food report. Glad you loved Yak and Yeti b/c we are going to try it for the first time in our December trip.

What a great night! We arrived a bit early for our 9PM ADR. We had plenty of time to get back from AK, shower, and get dressed up (since they do have a dress code). I must admit, I did feel pretty silly riding the monorail over to the GF all dressed up since everyone else was in casual vacation clothing, but I didn't feel out of place at all once we arrived. I love the GF. Everything about it is just so lovely. Narcoosee's is no exception; it's in it's own little red roofed building right on the water and behind the main building.

Our wait wasn't very long at all, and I immediately noticed that almost everyone there was an adult; couples and more mature families. So of course the noise level wasn't so bad (this was opposite of the experience we had at California Grill). The decor was beautiful, as were the tables; blue table cloth and little flickering candles. Honestly, it was kind of romantic. Our seats were also great! We were right next to the window with a perfect view of the castle and the lagoon. As we were being seated, the Electrical Water Pageant was floating by.

You can click here for a little clip of it and the restaurant. Sorry it's so dark, the restaurant was very dim.

DSCN1118.jpg

I had mentioned on some of our ADRs that I was celebrating my graduation on this trip, and out of all the restaurants we visited, Narcoosee's definitely did the best job helping me celebrate! I received a personalized menu to keep, as well as two Mickey straws and Mickey confetti for the table. They were just little things, but they made me quite happy :goodvibes

DSCN1121.jpg

The bread was yummy. Honestly, DBF and I probably thought all the bread was great as long as they had the sea salted butter :rotfl:

DSCN1119.jpg

I had the Shrimp and Crab Chowder as my appetizer. Yum! I'm not a shrimp fan at all, and I still enjoyed this soup. I really like anything that's even close to a lobster bisque and this definitely was. Very creamy and flavorful.

DSCN1120.jpg

DBF had the crab cakes again, and thoroughly enjoyed them, of course. He's not really one to step outside his comfort zone, but I guess it's good that he knows what he likes at least.

Now at this point in the meal, they dimmed the lighting and began to pipe in the sound from Wishes. A lot of people left their tables to go stand on the porch outside, but we were able to see everything perfectly from ours. Here's a picture of our view:
DSCN1124.jpg

And you can click here for a little video clip showing Wishes as seen from our table. The waiter actually waited until right after Wishes ended to bring us our entrees so that we could watch it uninterrupted, which I thought was nice :)

DSCN1128.jpg

For an entree, I had the filet mignon. I guess I'm one to talk about staying in their comfort zone :rotfl: Oh, it was good though. Definitely not anything close to the California Grill's, but still very tasty. The sauce added flavor and kept the filet from being too dry (not that it needed too much help there). I didn't try the potatoes. I'm sure they're fine as far as potatoes go, but I cannot stand potatoes :crazy2:

DSCN1127.jpg

DBF had the Mahi Mahi. From what I can remember, he said it was cooked well and enjoyed it.

DSCN1129.jpg

For dessert, DBF had the strawberry shortcake and he couldn't stop raving about it even a week after the trip. He said the whipped cream was very thick and not "artificial" tasting at all, the cake was soft and fluffy, and there were actually strawberries inside the cake (kind of like a lava cake). I really liked the white chocolate garnish (in the picture it looks like peppermint but doesn't actually taste like it).

DSCN1130.jpg

I had the Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse Dome. The garnish was delicious! It was hard milk chocolate sprinkled with little nut pieces. The sauces covering the dome were also SO good. It was syrupy raspberry and then a thick chocolate...sort of a sweet, thick mousse sauce, and you could actually still feel the sugar granules. I actually liked the garnish and sauces better than the mousse itself; they were delicious! The actual dessert was kind of bitter and seemed like a waste of chocolate to me. We had to get both of our desserts to go because we were so full from the meal, but if we were still in the restaurant I probably would have added some of the table sugar to the mousse to sweeten it up :rotfl:

Overall: What a great meal! No complaints here. The atmosphere was beautiful, the server was very professional and courteous, the food was top notch and presented very well, and the view :thumbsup2 We'll definitely be returning, and I would recommend Narcoosee's to everyone, especially those who might want a "date night" with their significant other.

Thanks for reading everyone! Up next: Liberty Tree Tavern

Awesome reviews! We're dining at a lot of the same places and I can't wait. Thanks for taking the time to post reviews and pictures!

I love how fast you're doing the reviews! It's fun to come on and see that you have a tasty update!

On our second MK day, I had to go to Liberty Tree Tavern. We had gone here on my last trip and I loved it! Liberty Square is my favorite "land" at Disney World and I love American history, so the theming alone is enough for me :thumbsup2 The first time I'd gone, we were there for the character dinner, so we had the family style meal. I was a little wary of the a la carte lunch menu on this trip. Anywho, we arrived a little early for our 11:30 ADR. They set out coloring pages and crayons. And of course I had to color...it was a picture of Minnie as Betsy Ross. Then we saw a family being directed up the staircase. A little girl in the family was given a big bell to ring, and then the mother read a document proclaiming that the tavern was open. There were also a few "hear ye, hear ye"s :rotfl: It was really cute.

We were seated very soon afterward, in the "George and Martha Washington room". We were actually one table away from were we sat on the last trip. Our server was very sweet and even had an authentic New England accent!
DSCN1137.jpg

DSCN1138.jpg

For the appetizer (which counted as two credits) we got the crab and spinach dip with pita bread. DBF hates cheese, so he just munched on the pita. I thought pita was an interesting choice since spinach dip is normally served with tortilla chips. I think I actually like the chips better because the crunchiness provides a nice contrast in texture to the creamy dip. The spinach dip was good though, not any better or worse than other restaurants' spinach dip, but good. Not too greasy or lumpy. You'll like it if you like spinach dip. So really, the pita was good, the dip was good, but they weren't as good together as chips and dip would be.

DSCN1139.jpg

For an entree, I had the Tri-Corner sandwich. Yum! They sure hit the nail on the head with every ingredient of this sandwich (unlike the appetizer). The slaw, horseradish, swiss, and roast beef in combination were so good, and the focaccia bread. Wow. The fries were also tasty, and huge! In fact, I'm not sure if you can tell by the picture, but the whole entree was huge. I was only able to finish a little over half of the sandwich and a third of the fries.

DSCN1140.jpg

DBF had the Pot Roast. He said it was very tender and tasty, and without much fat.

DSCN1142.jpg

For dessert, DBF had the Caramel Apple Tart. He said it was very good, but couldn't finish it all (it was pretty big, as was the rest of his meal).

DSCN1141.jpg

And the winner of "Best Dessert at Disney World" goes to...the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake! Yep, this was my absolute favorite. You have to try this dessert. Starting from the top, you have a tasty white chocolate disc. Then you've got Mickey sprinkles and caramel and chocolate sauce covering some yummy vanilla ice cream. That's all really nice, but the absolute best part of this dessert is the toffee cake. I cannot even begin to describe how good this was. It tasted like warm, soft but chewy cookie dough. The edges were sort of crisp like the edge of a cookie, and I really couldn't distinguish the toffee taste. It was pretty subtle. Actually, I'm not sure why it's called a "toffee cake" because it really just tastes like neither toffee or cake, just cookie dough :rotfl: I ate every bite and probably could have eaten another!

Overall: This meal was very good, and honestly, I would have been happy just because of the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. The portions were a bit large, but everything was very tasty. Our server was great and Disney, once again, did a great job with the theming. DBF was surprised that it was one of the least expensive meals on the trip since it was so good and the portions were so large. We'll definitely be going back!

Thanks for reading y'all. Up next: the Wave.

His apple tart was very good...but that Toffee Cake :cloud9:

What flavor of ice cream came with the caramel apple dessert? It looks pretty good...

Yep, it was good. The allears.net menu says it's cinnamon but it was actually butterscotch when we were there. I thought it was yummy, but DBF didn't care for it.
