GOTG-Mission:Breakout

At DCA I believe all of the headliners are usually open during EMH.

This is GREAT !!!! :yay: I've got at least 4 more reservations this year @ VGC so bring it on !!! :worship: Are we to wait for an AP Holder invite to preview the ride for May 24th / 25th OR do we signup somewhere on line?

I'm wondering about this too! I've been lurking around on various websites, Facebooks, Twitter, etc but it seems like nobody knows for sure. I think in the past with other AP previews they sent out an email.

AP previews have been done all different ways. They have done social media posts and e-mails. They have done lotteries, invitation only, show up and ride based on ride availability. They charged for the opening of Carsland, and that's what I'm expecting for Star Wars Land too if they decide to hold previews for that. Disney hasn't announced yet how the Guardians preview opportunity is going to work yet.

Disneyland has just announced that there will be a Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! Galactic Premiere Party on Friday, May 26th (7:00 pm to 1:00 am). It's $150 per person. Yikes!
LOL, ridiculous price, but I am seriously thinking about it. I was thinking of driving up for the day on Tuesday and take my chances on a AP preview, but it would really be a bummer to drive all that way by myself and not have an AP preview and then drive home by myself.

I did the TOT farewell party and the ride did have issues and only one elevator was working towards the end of the party. We already rode a couple times and party was very late and it was very cold, so we did one last ride with a longer line and decided we were satisfied. However, this party costs more and I think I'd be a lot more disappointed if only one of the elevators was working.

Yeah, I first balked at the price, but decided to go ahead and get it. It includes $15 voucher for food, plus tote bag with pin, hat and comic. I think it could be fun too because there are 6 different versions of the ride, so maybe this way I could try them all.

Yikes is right! Am I incorrect in thinking this doesn't bode well for the possibility of annual pass previews earlier in the week?

I was about to say wow, that's steep but I suppose there's a lot included in the event. I'd like to see how this affects the possibility of AP previews too!

I won't deny $150 for a party that doesn't even seem to include food (beyond the $15 voucher) is a hard pill to swallow. They could throw some seating to World of Color in there too or something for that price, haha...

BUT...

I sprang for one anyway. I'll be there that weekend. That day. My trip is already booked. This strikes me as a once in a lifetime opportunity I'd be a fool to pass up and regret not doing forever afterward. And in the long run what's another $150 on top of a Disney Trip that's already costing me four digits? Ya'know?

Looks like photo pass is included and encouraged for the party, so there's some value to be scrounged there. I'm a huge Marvel fan, so i appreciate the swag and the atmosphere all the more. And if I can potentially see all 6 versions of the ride the night before it opens... yippie!

Here's hoping the wait to get on won't be bad considering the ticket price, but... however long it is, it will most assuredly be better than the following memorial day weekend.

I considered asking some opinions or sleeping on it before I bought one... but I'd frankly feel terrible if I come back to buy one tomorrow and they're sold out, so... I just pulled the trigger. Carpe diem.

EDIT PS. I have Carthay Circle lunch reservations that day I may need to move now... I think I could easily fit it in, but would prefer not to stack too much food/activity onto that day if I'm gonna be up partying til 1am, haha. Perhaps I'll move it to Saturday or Monday... if possible.

If this includes admission to DCA without having to purchase a separate ticket, then it really isn't that big of a price gouge. It actually sounds like fun.

It does make me wonder how much they will charge for a similar event when Star Wars Land opens.

Haha... my park admission that day is already paid for, so I'm losing out on that value, but you make a fair point all the same.

Fine print sounds similar to the Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at WDW (or similar events) in that you get into the park an hour before the party, and stay after the park closes. So entry at what 6pm? (Maybe 5pm if allowed an hour before check in?)

Makes me wonder where the party ends and regular admission begins. Doubt they'll close off a big chunk of Hollywood land to party guests, then regular guests could complain. Also can't see them giving regular guests access to the ride, then party guests would complain (What are we paying for at that point, if not to ride it before it opens with less crowd? $150 gift bag?)

How did the last ride party for ToT work? (Wasn't there. No idea.)

$150!!!! Wow, I hope they will empty the park for just the ticket holders. Then maybe it will be worth it. We went to the electrical parade private party answers paid way less than that and it was fantastic.

It says it allows one hour entry before the event. I don't think much can be done in an hour on a Friday evening.

I went ahead and bought a couple tickets since usually when I sit around and think about something, it gets sold out. I don't know if I'll be going with one of my daughters or if I'll drag my husband along, who just doesn't get Disney anymore.

Well, an hour before the event yes, but... the event starts 3 hours before the park closes. So there's some overlap there for other things, if not a ton. I'm *assuming* at least until 10 that party-goers will be free to leave the area and wander the rest of the park/other rides. Whether that's a smart idea is debatable, as I'm sure that time would be better spent doing party activities. But who knows.

After 10 they may be confined to the party.

I dunno though. The only separate ticket night events I've ever been to are the Halloween & Christmas parties at Magic Kingdom in Orlando... and those are basically just late night regular Magic Kingdom + free candy/cookies (respectively), and Holiday Fireworks & Parades. Never been to an event that focused in a one particular ride/area... so not sure what to expect.

OMG! Honestly the price is insane but, we went ahead and bought tickets too.
The 26th will be our last day in the parks and we were SO BUMMED that ToT was closed (last time we rode it was four years ago!!) and for us it's worth it because we have no idea when we'll be able to go back to the parks again. I'm excited to see what it's like!

so you pay $150 per person ON TOP of what you already paid for in your AP? This is just to be 1st one on this ride?

To go to the premiere party on the 26th, yes. It is my understanding, AP rides are the 23/24. Cast members are the 21st/22nd.

It's not about being first on the ride. In my case, it's about not having to wait in long lines and to have a smaller party. I usually don't go on new rides until they've been out for a few years because I don't like waiting in line for very long. Since this ride has 6 different versions, it could take me several years (probably 10 at my pace) to see the whole ride.

In the past year, I've done the Halloween party, the TOT farewell party and the MSEP premiere party and have decided that at this point in my life (kids are adults, but I am still a Disney fan), I'd much rather do private ticketed events than do normal days at DL. If I knew for sure that they would keep having these type of events, I wouldn't have an AP. I'd just go to the special events.
