GOTG-Mission:Breakout

Oh wow... so the DCA one IS a full sized Groot? That surprises me.

They just added a Star-Lord & Groot meet and greet at Hollywood Studios in Orlando and it's baby groot. Like... a little puppet on a tabletop (not quite sure). That made me assume the DCA version would be identical... guess not. Haha.

I'm getting excited for some of this. Just saw both GOTG movies and really enjoyed them...

I'll be there opening weekend but solo with DD5 who did not particularly like ToT so I'm thinking I'll have to save it for another time. Now if DD11 was coming, we'd probably spend the whole day riding this (and meeting Groot).

I'm heading to DCA the day it opens, I'm assuming it will be crazy busy and I won't be able to ride then but we're sticking around for 5 days. I can't wait! I was sad, I was there for the closing of ToT and wasn't able to go on, the line was crazy.

It seems like it will be more of a dance party than typical character meet. So Groot will show up as a guy in stilts.

Hey all,

Has there been any footage of the GoG ride at Disneyland outside of the commercial and videos from out
front?

It seems like its so close to opening atleast some POV footage should have been leaked or released.

Thanks

Do you think if they're allowing riders on 2 weeks in advance they'll let them pull out a camera?

No i dont... Im asking if any footage has leaked... lol

Seems like your answer could have been a simple no though, so thanks.

Thanks for the video! I'm not happy TT is gone, but I'm going to make the best of it and am building excitement to experience the new theme at our next visit :)

I didn't think "no" appropriately answered the false premise that footage should leak. I don't expect or encourage people to violate their NDA or media embargo and lose their access in the future because I might want spoilers.

Im not saying it should or shouldn't. Simply asking if it did. I do appreciate your opinion though. Have a good day :-)

At this point, if it did "leak", it would be cast members, and there would be terminations involved. So, no.

Not POV, but a pretty good description of the experience.

Thanks for the video. That was a cool description. It was interesting because he said we would shoot up to the top, blow the generator, and then plummet all before having the randomized scene that then sets off the music and random drop sequence. I do wonder if there is an animatronic or projected Rocket in the elevator shaft with us as he seems to be crucial to the story.

I saw the video and I have to say, while I am a huge GOG fan, the GOG stuff makes no sense in a TOT format. Why they had to change the ride over instead of just building a new ride is beyond me.

Well no offense to blurry youtube videos, but I rode the ride, and it made perfect sense in the context of the story the ride was telling. It was the most fun I've had on a "new" ride in years (California or Orlando) and it frankly, puts Tower of Terror to shame. (And this is coming from someone who had zero problem with Tower of Terror)

The ride movement itself has been cranked up to 11, but also injected with humor, rock music, 10x more energy and 10x more fun.

It's one of the most well themed and immersive rides I've yet seen, and does a great job of pulling you INTO the story. It's easy to see the overlay if you're familiar with tower of terror, but anyone who hasn't seen the old ride would never know the difference. I'm truly amazed at what they were able to do to this ride in just 4 months.

For the moment I'm glad ToT still exists in Orlando, so I can have my cake and eat it too... but I'll be honest, I'm also mildly upset I won't get to ride this again on my next trip to Disney World (which will be coming sooner than my next trip to Disneyland). I enjoy both, but weighed against one another, speaking for myself both objectively and subjectively... Guardians is the better ride.

I'd be interested to hear more opinions of people as they ride it. I've watched several different videos of the ride and it seems like it's a ton of fun.

We rode it last Thursday, 6/1. None of us had ever been on Tower of Terror. And I really don't like drop elevator type rides. But I sucked it up and tried it for the sake of my YDD, who wanted to go on it because she thinks that Baby Groot is really cute.

ODD went on it, too. As did 2 of our friends. DH was the only smart one. He declined.

The queue area is really really well done. Harold the abominable snowman from the Matterhorn is in the queue. There supposedly is some sort of Easter egg in the actual ride (not queue), but we never saw it because we had our eyes closed for about half of the ride. The Collector's Office was cool as well. The animatronic Rocket was very well done.

But the ride itself? It was terrifying. My ODD (almost 11) was in tears. YDD hated it, too. The only way I didn't throw up was by screaming my fool head off the whole entire time. Seriously, it was torture. It was truly horrible. I really did almost throw up on everybody in the elevator. Felt like the drops just wouldn't stop. And every time the elevator zoomed up, I got even more freaked out because I knew that the drop was coming. My hands couldn't stop shaking for about 20 minutes after we got off the ride. We were all so dazed afterwards that we tried to exit out a Cast Member corridor by mistake. We went on Radiator Springs Racers afterwards in order to get the bad juju off of us and reset our brains back to happy Disneyland mode! :flower1:

If you enjoyed the type of ride that Tower of Terror was, then you will enjoy this version a lot as well. If you don't like drop rides, then save yourself the torture and post-traumatic stress and skip it! :crazy2:

I think these rides are soo fun. Stomach dropping is hilarious. Sounds like it's probably much longer than TOT was, this looks so much better than TOT. I can't wait!

Honestly I didn't like the ride itself, but I loved the theming and thought that was really well done. I'm disappointed that I didn't like it since the decorations were really cool. I did enjoy the music that was being played though.
I don't think I'll ride it anytime soon unless it's a 20 minute wait because it most definitely isn't worth more than that.
