Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

Jiko is the best meal I have ever had at Disney World. I went with 3 friends. We ordered 4 different entrees and a couple appetizers and desserts and shared everything. It was SOOOOOOOO good. Actually, good doesn't even come close to describing it. And the wine selection...amazing!

I just have to chime in here and all. We have eaten at Boma for dinner twice and ate there for breakfast once -- we loved all our meals. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your breakfast, TK, but it may have been an off day in the kitchen. :goodvibes

I won't deny that others have had wonderful experiences there. And thank goodness, otherwise I'd think you were all crazy!!! :lmao:

As for not loving AKL, I am sorry to hear that, too, since I want everyone to love what I love. That's the wonderful thing about Disney, though -- there are so many resorts to fit every taste. :goodvibes

It is sort of tainted for me by this past experience, but I have had wonderful stays there. And truthfully, if my DS were Connor's age, I would be more apt to consider a savannah view room, because I think he'd go nuts over seeing the animals every morning, you know? In that respect, I won't rule it out forever, just for right now.

And you are right, there are so many resorts to fit many tastes. I can say this though, I do love their gift shop! It just has such neat things you can't find anywhere else like all those wonderful animal carvings. :thumbsup2

And....I clicked on that AKL link. And I will admit. Sigh. That the pics of AKL decked out for Christmas are very pretty. Has anyone tried Jiko? Marc saw people eating at Jiko on one of the Travel Channel specials and he wants to try it. I haven't heard too much about Jiko so I was just wondering if anyone had opinions!? :goodvibes

I've never eaten there, but have read many, many reviews on it and have never read a bad review! It's many people's "MUST DO!" each trip because of how delish it is.

I have to join in here and say that I don't know what resort to stay at either. My dh was really fighting going to WDW in December so I compromised. I told him I would change our dates if we could stay deluxe when we go in May. He said yes so now I don't know where to stay. We are booked at WL right now but the more I look at AKL the more I want to stay there. Besides I really want to stay at WL during Christmas.

:welcome: Have you decided where you want to stay? I think I am going to have to end up flipping a coin to decide! :goodvibes

I just read about those too! I have to go cover the receptionist desk for the rest of the day and there is no internet down there so I emailed a bunch of dining reviews to myself to occupy my time! :thumbsup2

Good idea! Today is a library/reading day for my classes -- maybe I should read dining reviews -- mmmm, especially if they come with pictures.

MickeyNicki's review has made me look into changing all my plans because of that filet at Jiko! If I do dlx ddp (which I would want to do if we were to go to signatures), I would have to forego parkhoppers, therefore change some plans and ADRs. I'm VERY seriously considering it!

I should just quit reading her report! :sad2:

Have you seen her latest? Those rooms at the Boardwalk??? I showed those to Charles this morning.

I'm contemplating some changes due to MickeyNicki's report too! But, believe it or not... I'm thinking of changing from Boma to something else!

DH cannot eat anything spicy at all - and it seems like everything I read is curry or spiced, leaving little for him to try (and he LOVES food). Oh the pain of decisions!

I saw your dilemmas over on your PTR -- I think you would enjoy Teppan Edo, but there is also Tokyo Dining which has a wider range of sushi options -- we peeked in on our way to Teppan Edo and the decor was really neat.

Seriously? I would love to try several of those entrees! I wonder if we could drop the kids at Simba's Den and then have an adult meal. Hmmm...

It is truly my favorite resort gift shop!

Anyplace that has Kenyan Coffee Ribs must be good! :goodvibes

Just caught up with your ptr...... I can't wait to see how it all turns out!

:welcome: So glad you came over! You just got back from a MNSSHP trip, right?

I just found your PTR too, I'm in :goodvibes

:welcome: Be forewarned: I ramble a lot about all things Disney. :goodvibes

So today your ticker still says WL, but what "outfit" is your trip binder wearing? ;)

Believe it or not, I have ignored my binder this week (I am sure she is very upset), so she is still wearing her Wilderness Lodge outfit. I discovered Facebook so I have been busy decorating my virtual corkboard with Disney buttons and putting books on my Virtual bookshelf. :rotfl:

I have done the same thing - when we have silent reading time, the kids are happily reading their AR books, and I am happily reading the Disboards!

I'll take some good pictures for you when I am there at Thanksgiving. Do you have any requests of particular things or areas you'd like to see? If not, you know you'll be getting pictures of light fixtures and unique cracks in the floor and other very important things. ;)

I very much look forward to seeing your pictures of light fixtures. :rolleyes1

Well I was booked at WL but I already changed it to AKL. I really want to stay at WL during Christmas. Besides if I don't do it now I will have to go back later. ;)

See, I am the same exact way -- I would really like to stay at WL in the fall or winter -- AKL seems like more of a summer resort to me. I have kept our WL ressie for now, though.

Out of curiosity, which view did you book?

I just booked a standard veiw. That is all I can afford but if we get alot back from our taxes then I will try to upgrade. Also this is our 10th anniversary trip and when we were on our honeymoon one of our favotite places we stayed at had a jungle room theme so I thought the AKL would be fun to stay at.

We would book a standard view room -- I hear a lot of times people get partial savannah views instead of a parking lot view!

You will have to remember to get anniversary buttons to wear while you are there! :goodvibes

All of your pictures always make me happy to see -- just Mara at AKL and Roaring Forks at WL (if you head over there, too, on this trip) -- just to get an idea of what they look like. Any gratutious cracks and ligh fixtures will be the icing on the cake! :rotfl:

oOOH! oOOH! facebook! PM me your email so I can find you, CP! Anyone else too!

I will PM you and let you know!

I very much look forward to seeing your pictures of light fixtures. :rolleyes1

LL and her light fixture porn! ;)

My travel agent made a note on our reservations that it was our anniversary. I am hoping for an upgrade.

That would be awesome -- I will keep my fingers crossed for you! :goodvibes

I'm wondering if I should start a Light Fixture thread. Do you think people would help me feed my addiction? :rolleyes1
