OMG! That is absolutely horrible. :guilty: I would be so angry if that happened to me or my family. I can't blame him for not wanting to go back to the U.S. again. I really hope he gets some kind of apology for this, at the very least.

Oh my god that is terrible!

Im really worried now about when dh and I go in December as he isnt British and unfortunately looks like a terrorist, we had no problems last time and I hope this has all calmed down by December.

That's terrible, I wonder what grounds they are citing for refusing him entry? Surely they can't just say "he looks like a terrorist"?

under the green visa waver they can refuse anyone entry without notice

This is very true. If you're bored on your flight one time, try reading the visa waiver form and you'll be surprised what's on there in the small print.

By signing it you agree that the customs official can deny you access to the US for whatever reason they like (they don't even have to tell you why) and you waive any and all rights of appeal, even to a supervisor.

Whereas, if you're travelling on a visa, you do get the right to appeal and if rejected they have to tell you why I believe.

That has got to be one of the craziest posts I have ever read on here.

Please explain to us. What does a terrorist look like? :sad2:

OMG this is a disgrace!! how can someone be refused entry into a country because of their race? What is this world coming to?????

He looks like one of the terrorists from 9/11, cant remember which one. Im not saying all terrorists look the same but unfortunately he does look like a muslim one in that he has a darker skin tone, is Muslim and with his shaved hair does look a bit dodgy! No offence to my husband here, he admits himself that people always look nervous sitting next to him on a flight!

How awful for the family Paul, hope they get a proper apaology, Did the gent involved actually have any reason to have to apply for a visa, it doesn't seem clear in the story wether he was picked on by the way he looked or whether he'd had any convictions and was trying to go through visa free?

I saw this on the news and I agree that it is is terrible. :sad2:

I saw this story on the local news last night. I thought it was terrible. The man said that the most upseting thing for him, was the fact that he was only given 5 minutes to sat goodbye to his wife and children! :sad2:

I must admit I always get targetted by immigration. I think it's because I am going through by myself! There have been several times when the person interviewing me has asked to speak with my DH. I guess that I must look dodgy! :teeth:

Absolutely appalling... Typical American attitude though.

DH is usually targeted at Customs too and has frequently been asked where he got his British passport from!

Okay so his skin is a shade darker than most, especially on the way home from a sunny holiday (think Mexican) but he's British 'through and through', having been born in Worksop.

I sometimes wonder where these customs men do their training :confused3

If you look at all the 9/11 and 7/7 bombers you should notice that they all look asian. None of them were blue eyed blondes! Obviously no one knows what a terrorist looks like but the majority are all similar.

I was born in Worksop too!!!!

Paul, hope the family are ok :sad2:

First things first....how awful for the poor man and his family, it must have just been terrible for them all.

Don's Flame Proof Suit

But......it is a fact that the 9/11 and 7/7 bombers were Asian in appearance. Before anyone shouts 'racist', no of course I'm not but surely people must have expected this after what happened last week in British Airports?

The authorities are scared....how do you stop a person who doesn't care about losing their life?

Obviously stopping all ‘Asian looking men’ is a complete over reaction and I'm sure others with a dark skin shade are concerned about travel but surley the people to blame are the bombers and the terrorists?

What I'm trying to say is before you blame the authorities think about what would have happened if the last plot hadn't been foiled - nine jumbo jets blown out of the sky with no regard for the occupants skin colour or religion.

Its a reflection of the terrible times we live in and unfortunately not a surprising move.
