Goofy Support Group (AKA Goofy Challenge 2010)

Pat, all I know is that I can get the miles in on a bike a whole lot better than I can on my feet. Ha!

Went trail walking for the first time this morning with some other ladies for ~ 8 miles. I really enjoyed it but discoverd that I need to get some trail shoes for better support instead of using my running shoes. On another note, I only managed to trip and fall once so that's good news. Oh, and I brought back some souvenirs - chiggers. Yikes!

Going for a 35 mile bike ride tomorrow that will involve a few hills. There is one hill that I just can't quite ride up yet. I huff and puff just walking up it. DH Steve is going to try this route for the first time tomorrow. I think he just wants to show me up on that hill. ;) Going down on the other side is a lot fun, though. Wheeeeeee!

Goofy training starts on Tuesday for me. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to it but I want to do this. Having other people go through the experience with me, albeit virtual, really helps! I'm already learning a lot just by following this thread.

Hoping everyone has a good, injury-free week! :cheer2:

Hey everyone!

Goofy training starts for me on Tuesday, as well, and I'm really excited to get into it! This week has unfortunately been run-free for me, as I had to have a partial permanent toenail removal operation (to remove a cyst under my toenail) on one of my big toes on Tuesday... I'm following doctor's orders and keeping it bandaged up and not running this week, but I did get in a bit of biking just so I wasn't a complete lump. It looks like I'm going to have to keep it bandaged for at least another week, but I picked up some awesome (and really expensive!) flexible medical tape last night, so I'm all set to run on Tuesday!

Hoping to do one hour on the bike today, and 1:10 on the bike tomorrow, if everything works as planned!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and getting in to the training spirit!

Hey guys, I have been on vacation in the land of the mouse all week so i am still catching up on the thread, but I had to let you know I had my first Goofy related nightmare last night :scared1: I dreamt I did both races within the time limit and went through the finish line and somehow didnt get a medal, and it ended up in my wierd dream world I had run 39.3 miles and didnt get one piece of bling for my trouble :scared1: now if thats not a nightmare I dont know what is! :rotfl2:!

Anyway still no running for my with my silly leg but getting in lots of miles at the pool and on the bike and awaiting another pair of shoes to arrive!!! hopefully I will be able to start training before December :lmao:

good luck with your training everyone :)

Kirsty

Hey Everyone,

Goofy is 98% Full and we have 47 Wishers on our list. So any of you lurkers/supporters out there you can still sign up to get us to 50.....:rotfl2:

Kirsty - Nightmares already? Been there lately myself. No worries. You'll be getting that medal!

Sarah - OUCH!

Got in a 10 miler yesterday and today my plan is to do 5. Trying to help the DW get off the treadmill and outside and while the back to back is backwards I'll make it work.

Everyone's official plans should be starting in the next week to three I would think so I would expect our boards and this thread to really pick up. :yay:

Safe training everyone.

I guess I might be #50 then. I am signed up for Goofy :goodvibes

Oh, and its my first Goofy and I want to do the Half in 2:59 and the Full in 6:40 :scared1:

Reporting in.....W1D1 of my Goofy training:

45 min TM - done. 20 ST - done.

I don't want to think too far ahead. Tomorrow I'm heading to the gym for 40 minutes on a bike.

WTG Pat. What is ST????

Yup day 1 is in the books, day 2 for tonight is 40 min walk and 20 mins weights.

Yep, ST = strength training. I just happened to get a free DVD from work that includes a 20 minute upper body and a 20 minute lower body workout, so I did the upper body one last night.

I still plan to use the Total Gym, but after I got off the TM last night I couldn't quite figure out how to set it up, so I just grabbed the DVD. Next time I will have the TG set up before I start working out.

I've made it through Goofy training to the first big race I have scheduled during it...the DL 1/2! Sunday was my last LR of 12 miles before the big day. And amazingly I still feel pretty good!:thumbsup2

Hope your training is going well!
