Glennbo’s City, Sand, and Savanna PTR - TR Link (pg 73)

woo-hoo! I'm all caught up!

Quick notes: NYC - we go pretty often since it is only about three hours from our part of Central PA. Ellens Starlight Diner on Broadway is a fun place to eat and we really enjoyed Bubba Gumps in Times Square too. I would love to see Wicked but it is not in the cards right now. We did a Harbor Cruise to see the Statue last trip and all three of us really enjoyed it. If they want see the city from up high, I would recommend top of the rock at Rockefeller center over The empire state building. Almost as tall and much less aggravation with lines, times, prices, etc.

Can't wait to hear what you think about Vero Beach! We are considering a Hilton Head trip one of these days.

We did Universal right before WWHOP opened so I have no thoughts on that part if you are looking for a sit down restaurant we really liked Mythos and ate at Circus McGurkus for CS. If you get a chance, buzz through Seuss Landing - even though your kids are probably too old for most of the stuff there the theming is really cool and worth a walk through.

Glenn, so sorry I've been missing in action. Life has been more hectic than it has ever been.

Love the updates and the plans seem to be coming together really well for the trips (New York, Vero, Disney).

Marv my PTR for the Grannie Trip is ON THE PTR board 2Grannies celebrate , we made it to medicare !!! Official Rosie Link!!!!:rotfl2:

You are in the Planning Doldrums, bobbing with the waves, just slowly drifting. It may seem like you’re going nowhere, but at the very least, time is passing – and when you’re waiting for a Disney trip to arrive, that means a lot!
Well said. But I'd rather be in the Planning Doldrums than not have a trip planned at all.

Scheduled my parents for Magical Express. Unfortunately, their luggage tags will come to me and I’ll have to forward them, but we’ll work it out. As we get closer to their travel date, I’ll tell them a) how to find the welcome desk to check-in (Terminal B, level 1), b) to pack swimsuits and arrival-day necessities in their carry-on luggage, and c) that Kidani is a separate stop from Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Lodge. For now, I’ll just tell them that they’re transportation is all set.
Good luck... I see a lot of potential problems that could arise from this point.:scared1: :rotfl2:

Ordered our Universal (1 day) tickets from Undercover Tourist.
I didn't realize they had Universal tickets... I might have to look into that.

Ordered crossbars for the roof rack of our van so that we can use our car-top carrier. Our new (to us) van has roof rails, but no crossbars. I ordered them and they’re now waiting for me to install them. Wish me luck!
Good luck! Just remember, if you don't do it right, your underwear will be strung down the highway behind you.:thumbsup2

On a note of trivia I was reading your '09 report, and I just realised that I was in Floriday in July '09 when the monorail driver was killed as you mention, I think we had just gotten in a day or two before you left, we might even have passed you in Epcot or AK... weird. Kinda put a downer on that trip, but we knew that being disney something good would result out of such a tragedy, be it safety improvements or otherwise.

(This is also a shameless bump :))

Woo hoo is right! Hiya Jen! I think this is your first post on this thread, so :welcome: I'm glad you're caught up. (I slowed down a little for just that very reason. ;))

Quick notes: NYC - we go pretty often since it is only about three hours from our part of Central PA.

I don't think it's much farther than that for us, but we (almost) never go. :confused3

Ellens Starlight Diner on Broadway is a fun place to eat and we really enjoyed Bubba Gumps in Times Square too. I would love to see Wicked but it is not in the cards right now.

If it was me, I'd like to see War Horse, but it's not, so that's the way it is.

We did a Harbor Cruise to see the Statue last trip and all three of us really enjoyed it.

Good to hear. I hope my crew likes theirs.

If they want see the city from up high, I would recommend top of the rock at Rockefeller center over The empire state building. Almost as tall and much less aggravation with lines, times, prices, etc.

Thanks. I read some reviews online and concluded the same thing. I've writtten the Rockefeller center tour into their plan, but I'll let them purchase tickets there....it didn't seem like a big advantage to get them ahead of time.

Can't wait to hear what you think about Vero Beach! We are considering a Hilton Head trip one of these days.

Good, 'cause I can't wait to tell you about it! :) I'd like to do Hilton Head some day too, but right now it's not in the foreseeable plan.

We did Universal right before WWHOP opened so I have no thoughts on that part if you are looking for a sit down restaurant we really liked Mythos and ate at Circus McGurkus for CS.

Mythos does get good reviews, but since we're there mainly for Harry Potter I think we have to try 3 Broomsticks, so that's the plan right now.

If you get a chance, buzz through Seuss Landing - even though your kids are probably too old for most of the stuff there the theming is really cool and worth a walk through.

I think we'll at least give it a walk through. I read enough Seuss to little kids back in the day! Lauren was Daisy-Head Mayzie for Halloween when she was about 4 or 5.

Glenn, so sorry I've been missing in action. Life has been more hectic than it has ever been.

No worries Kathy. Thanks for popping in. :goodvibes

Love the updates and the plans seem to be coming together really well for the trips (New York, Vero, Disney).

Thanks. We'll get there one way or another!

:rotfl2: Love it!

Well said. But I'd rather be in the Planning Doldrums than not have a trip planned at all.

Good point. Me too!

Good luck... I see a lot of potential problems that could arise from this point.:scared1: :rotfl2:

 I'll get 'em there, but there may be a story in it...time will tell.

I didn't realize they had Universal tickets... I might have to look into that.

Yep, they sure do. ::yes::

Good luck! Just remember, if you don't do it right, your underwear will be strung down the highway behind you.:thumbsup2

I put them on this weekend (the crossbars, not my underwear, well I did also put on underwear but well, you know what I mean!) and so far so good. And if my underwear do get strewn down the highway, that'll be the hazmat guys' problem:

On a note of trivia I was reading your '09 report,

Let me interrupt...Thank you. Okay, continue.

and I just realised that I was in Floriday in July '09 when the monorail driver was killed as you mention, I think we had just gotten in a day or two before you left, we might even have passed you in Epcot or AK... weird.

Wow, you should look closely at my pictures and see if you're in a crowd shot somewhere.

Kinda put a downer on that trip, but we knew that being disney something good would result out of such a tragedy, be it safety improvements or otherwise.

That was such a sad occasion, and it didn't have to happen. I can't imagine what it was like being in the parks right after that.

(This is also a shameless bump :))

Thank you!

It's BUMP time !!!!!

Thank you Rosie! I took that as a cue that I needed to do replies! :duck:

We got an '05 Honda Odyssey.
So I searched a couple of 'secret' sites and you are right, that connector is sold out everywhere. :furious:

Wow, that was quite a signal! I have a Sportster 4. I wonder if the FCC has banned the boosters or something because no one has them in stock.

I wouldn't doubt it. :badpc:

Congrats on getting the crossbars up!

As for Grocery stores, here's my list

Fresh Market (several reccs esp for Bakery and Deli and FISH!)
526 21st Street

Hale Groves River Market (just off the Miracle Mile) (recc by Anita)

Also, a Publix about 10 minutes away, which apparently has a liquor store next to it.

We will likely stick to Fresh Market and Hales Grove River Market unless we can't find what we need. We won't be cooking at Kidani, just at Vero.

:)

Thanks for the welcome! congrats on getting the crossbars up! No going crazy with updates at the end of next week - I will be cruising on the Dream!

Oh yeah, it never occurred to me that you might have access to some 'secret' sites. Thanks for looking. Isn't that interesting.

I wouldn't doubt it. :badpc:

It's a conspiracy!

Congrats on getting the crossbars up!

Thanks. It could have been easier with just one more piece of information in the instructions (ain't that always the case), but we figured it out.

Thank you. :worship: I knew you'd collected a couple of recommendations.

When we've visited Vero before (the town, not the resort) we've gotten fruit at Peterson's, which is where my SiL recommends, but I think it'll be out-of-season when we're there.

:)

We'll be cooking at Kidani (hey, wasn't that the title to one of MEK's trip reports? Oh wait, that was "kickin' it at Kidani") but Judy thinks we'll get all of our groceries at Vero and transport them. Yeah, right! We hit the grocery store almost every day at home, why would that change?!

I am sooo subtle !!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

And don't forget demure!

Oh and Mr Tim you are conspicuously absent from my 2 PTR's and I have put out the Rosie Link!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Tim, if you need help...the "Rosie Link" is where she tells you the name of the thread and you go look for it.

Oh, you just said that to make me jealous, didn't you? Well, I've got news for you -- it worked like a charm! Have a great cruise! :goodvibes
