Jen - I tried to book a room at the Carousel today, but they said we couldn't do that yet because they don't have the signed contract back yet. I guess you have that then??

Sorry! I PROMISE to fax it in today. As soon as I get the word that they have it and all is clear, I will post here :) Paperwork and I are long time enemies....something about it reminds me of college and essays and due dates and procrastination :rotfl:

Hi Capri,
I would love to review your resume stuff. I'm sure it is wonderful! Hang in there! Honestly, subbing is not bad:)

Kelly,
Have a great trip. Send me a text as you get in the area and firm up your plans.

Tracey

PS Have a great day everyone!

YAY! Thanks Tracey!

Let me know if you think it's good or if it's just plain ol' bad. I really have no idea because I have don't have any way of comparing it to someone else's. (Don't read the teacher work sample part....it's very long and very boring - haha!) Just click on the different parts of my teacher portfolio on the left of the screen. Here is a link:

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a great day!

Kelly--were there maybe more kids entered in Katey's age group than the younger ones? It is great she did that though--my Mom entered an Apple Pie several years ago and didn't even place (but there were LOTS of apple pies!)

Hi guys just got back from the meet and wanted to check in real quick.

Tracey Hi!! Yes I will text you when we are on our way to Seattle. Probably Friday will be the best day like I said because Thurs is the day we are driving up and we are stopping at Mt. St. Helens so not sure when we will get in. I am not sure if my phone will work up there so if you get a text from another 916 number it will prob be my mom's phone. ;) Can't wait to see you!! Looking forward to some fun shopping time at Pike's. I need some new dried flowers! I hope that place is still there!! Plus I just love to explore that place :)

Cheryl thanks! Yeah I am not sure about how many kids entered in the 10-12 group. I know there were not that many in the 5-9. Maybe 10. But they gave every single one of them a 1st. In this particular contest they judge each one indiv based on merit. So each one can earn a 1st 2nd or 3rd based on points or no ribbon if they score to low or of course be disqualified if things are not done right.

Hers was the 2nd one in her age group and as soon as they scored her's I was on the phone with Shane and my mom and then she was so upset after that she wanted to go so I have NO idea how many more were in that category.

I know she had some mistakes but so did some of the ones before us including some in the adult category so I think she thought they were being a little hard on hers. But then I am not a judge. And like I told her at least she got SOMETHING and not dq'd!!

I know now we are going to be REALLY anxious to see how her pickles do but it will probably be a WHILE before we find out anything. I have a feeling though she is going to get marked down quite a bit so like I said I will be happy if she doesn't get dq'd and at least gets third!

Anyway the girls had a good meet but we are glad to be done and can't wait to get going on our trip!!

Have a good one everyone and see you when I get back!! :)

Hiya ladies!

Kelly~I'm sorry Katy is disappointed with the outcome, but I think getting a 3rd is great for a first try! I've never made jam before, so the fact that she did impresses me!!

Capri~I haven't had a chance to look at your resume yet, but I'm sending good job mojo your way. Marty subbed when we were first married, and he was always busy. In fact, one of the public schools created a position for him as on-site sub. When they didn't need him in a classroom, he did pull-outs and gave individual help to whatever kids needed it. So even if you don't have a full time job when the school year starts, try not to freak out about it. It will happen, lady!

Jen~I love, love, love that skirt! I really wish I could sew.

Gosh, I should have multi-quoted!

No big changes for me. I'm still catering, and keeping pretty busy. I'm hoping to be able to make it to at least part of the trip, but I work Thursdays and Fridays and Marty's birthday is that Sunday, so I may have to do some serious TV watching between now and then to get a hall pass for the weekend. ;-)

Hello, ladies!!

Just a quickie from me today. Spent the morning out with Noelle running errands and getting a jump start on back-to-school clothes/supplies shopping. Between that, and buying groceries and household supplies I am ready to have a nervous breakdown. It's so expensive! :scared1:

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. :)

Breathe in, breathe out................ ahhhhhhhhhh (or just scream really loud if you want to!!J)

I will be so glad in 3 more weeks when I have my last completely overnight shift. I tried getting sleep but it just wasn't happening. So instead I am re-watching Harry Potter for about the 7 millionth times. I'm going to see th final film again with a friend on Tuesday.

 Don' say school supplies Beth! This time of the year is death for me at work. Way, way, way, way too many things go on sale. My workload for tonight pretty much doubled and I blame our back to school department.

Morning all. I had a few minutes before mom and dad are picking us up so I wanted to stop in one last time.

Thanks Capri and ((hugs)) about your work. I know that must be SO frustrating and I know that you are going to make the BESTEST teacher ever. I know I would LOVE to have you as one of my kid's teacher if I lived where you were. I hope things look up for you soon and will be thinking good thoughts!!

Beth I know what you mean about back to school. Luckily the girls don't need too much clothes. Katy's school has uniforms which luckily I purchased a few months back because there is only ONE place that sells them and I didn't want to wait till RIGHT before school so that stuff would be sold out. They have to wear these school Tshirts and then regular jeans or whatever and so there are only a few selections and I am sure that certain colors sell out when the mad rush is on. I will probably do the same with Shelby next year but the only GOOD part is once I make the initial investment they are good to go for the next three years. I bought the shirts big so they would last. But I am sure by the end of 8th grade both them and I will be SICK of those stupid shirts. Lynn had to wear them but only for 2 years. They get really OLD! But the binders, paper, pens and all that get pretty spendy. Shelby has a big list and I will probably go shopping for that stuff when I get home from our trip.

I don't know if Katy will get a list before school starts or not.

I like it when you get it before cuz otherwise everything gets all picked over.

But usually the jr highs and high schools you have to wait till school starts because each teacher has their own "list". So we shall see.

Anyway not looking forward to THAT part LOL.

Tina great to see you again and thanks about Katy. I am sure once her ribbon/ribbons arrive in the mail she will be happy. They are pretty big and nice and I think she will be happy with what she gets once she actually SEES it. She is already thinking about next year which is better than Friday when she said she NEVER wanted to do it again LOL.

Well I am off here in a minute. Like I said I won't be on here till I get back but "may" be on facebook if my phone works so those of you on there can see any pics or updates on there if it works. Otherwise I will be back round the 27th and will post pics then.

Take care everyone and have a good week!

Good afternoon, ladies!! :)

I think a good scream would feel better right about now. ;)

Ugh, I can only imagine how much work it is! And they are starting so early this year. I was at Walmart yesterday and all the stuff was already out!

Kelly, Lindsey and Hannah have a school dress code this year. It's not uniforms per se, but it's strict guidelines that sort of follow a uniform style. So it's like starting from scratch with them because they have nothing in their closets that fit within those guidelines right now.

As for the lists, ugh, I hate those!!! Adam and Noelle always get a list from each teacher AFTER school starts. WTH?? By then everything is gone, and the sales are over. So annoying.

Have fun on your trip. I wish I was going with you!! I am so eager to see everything you have to post so I hope you are able to get on FB. I saw your Black Bear Diner pic already, and love it! :thumbsup2

Happy Sunday, everyone! Have a great day!

Good News/ bad news. Kelly you go right by my home for the Mt. St Helen's visit. Bad news I am having surgery the next Monday 25th so will be seeing Dr. and having labs and one other test before. Yep, Friday is the day I am scheduled for all the pre-op stuff.

You are going to be amazed at all the community growth in the exit you can take to get to Mountain. (It is the Castle Rock exit -- thinking it is exit # 46 but not sure-- ). They have just re-opened the visitors center so you have great timing. It had been closed for couple of years. I am not sure if the Restaurant is still open.

Have a great time. ( Exit #41 I think is the number is < 2 miles from our home.) Going north if you look to the left, from that exit, we are up on the hill near the top. Wave as you go by :P :). Wish I was going to Everett with you -- spent 5th grade -10th grade in Lake Stevens.

Wave to the Diva's -- have been busy with Dr.s but after this surgery hope to be done with this "forever". Then get transplant so I can go to Disneyland Diva Gathering.

I bought school supplies yesterday for Austen's class. I make up a box every year to help out so all the kids have required items. There is a club that buys back packs and fills with required supplies for families that need a little help. I have not done this, but was thinking what a great idea as the back packs are the biggest expense for families.

Bella that is great on the work hours.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Patty

Quiet weekend in Divaland....

I am pretty exited about my trip to DL in 8 days :) The only bad thing is is that my hubby tried taking a vacation day for next Wednesday (our last day there) and it is already blacked out. If his boss will not approve his request I will be taking both boys by myself :sad1: At least the ride times are looking good! Well, for everything but Star Tours that is.... So, if any Diva's want to meet up Monday-Wednesday next week I am up for it :) I know Michelle was saying she would come up!

Bridget~ I just have to say that your life is amazing! It is so fun to watch all of your adventures on fb as you jetset around the world! I am so jealous

I am busy trying to figure out Twitter. :rotfl: I am technogically challenged but I'm tired of following people the hard way gosh darnit!

Jen, can't believe you'll be down there so soon! I'll keep my fingers crossed your DH will be able to get that day off.

Yep, quiet day here on the thread. This day just flew by for me.
Disneyland in 8 days! How fun!! I hope your honey gets his vacation day approved. :wizard:

I have never, and probably will never, use Twitter. :sad2: Good luck figuring it out.

I told myself I wasn't going to. Buuuuuuuuuuuut now I am. Held out for as long as I could but one of my obsessions makes it really really hard not to.

Hi Jen,
My son and I will still be there on Mon and Tues, so let's meet up! I PM'd my phone number so just send me a text. Tracey

Capri! I looked over your resume. Honestly, I think you have done an amazing job. It looks great. I think you need to just wait out the market. Hang in there!

Mrs. Pinup and Queen Do Over Looking forward to hearing all about your trips. I hope the weather will be perfect for you both.

Thank You Beth, If I take much longer to get back on the active list I might have record for being on the active and inactive list same amount of time. I am thinking that is not a record I want to place first. The older I get the more I keep falling apart LOL.

Way to go Bella. After you get twitter figured out you well have to post here to help the rest of us. I am not allowed to download anything or like with twitter -- try to get hooked up. When I download or try connecting to stuff I usually end up needing tech support. I am thinking of taking a two day cllass via parks dept that will teach me about internet and downloading and trouble shooting. My idea of fixing issues is to restart my pc. gotta love that feature.

Good night -- sleep tight.

We all seem to be ready now! Maybe we should just bump the trip dates up! :lmao:

That sounds like at great idea... then I could go to a nursing conference in Hawaii on the original trip dates financed by my work. :rolleyes1

The girl who made this skirt tutorial is named Disney!

I love Disney's blog - I would so name my child Disney but for some odd reason my husband won't let me. :confused3:

How can you hate Pooh?! Hehe ;) But yeah, I got an email about it and if you have your stubs from opening weekend you can get up to 400 points instead of the normal 200 points. I need to find friends who are going and wouldn't mind handing over their tickets to go because I only have little old me and that doesn't add up very fast. I'm not even saving up for anything in particular. That backstage tour would be very very nice but I don't think I'll ever get there on my own. I like the Jim Shore figures though, lol.

First, I can't believe the amount of Pooh bashing on this thread. I have an interesting Pooh story. It was my first trip (that I remember) to DL, I was 16 with a group of about 25 highschoolers on a church trip. All I could talk about was getting my picture with Pooh - much to the others dismay. I was in the middle of a super long line for Splash Mountain when I saw him. You would have thought I won the lottery or something. I was jumping up and down, clapping and and chanting "Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh!" My best friend was motified, a group of older ladies were dying with laughter over this teenager acting like a 3 yo and the two cute guys behind us in line where just shaking their heads. My friend convinced me not to plow the 200 or so people down behind us as I bolted for Pooh and assured me that we would go straight to Pooh after the ride. She started talking to the cute guys. By the time we got off the ride, the boys wanted my friend to go with them the rest of the day, I did not - hellloooo - I wanted to see Pooh. My friend dissed me, Pooh deserted me, I was alone with no friend and no picture of Pooh. :sad2::confused: The rest of day ended with me crying in the bathroom and walking aimlessly around DL by myself all day. Wow - what a sad story. Come to think of it - I don't like Pooh very much anymore. Contuine the Pooh bashing. :lmao:

I think DH is as excited about his boys only trip as I am about my girls only trip.

I wish my husband was like that - if he suggested a boys only trip to Disney to his friends he would probably get kicked in a not so fun place. Silly boys.
