Good morning, ladies!!

I woke up way too early this morning. The good news is, I got a lot done. Washed dishes, did laundry, ironed, vacuumed, etc. The bad news is, I am ready to go back to bed now! lol

Hope you all have a great day. TGIF!!!!

To be completely honest:rolleyes1 I found the deal on airfare and got the okay from him to book it and started to get excited, then he went to work and found out one of the other managers had that time already booked off and it would be a no go:( After 2 days of sulking and telling him I wasn't his friend anymore while wearing my Mickey shirt the email appeared, he'd pulled a few strings for us:love:
Aw, that's still very sweet. And that sounds like something Ruben would, and has, done. If he knows I'm unhappy or really want something, he'll go out of his way to make it happen. I think we are both lucky in that respect. :goodvibes

It's the M&G theme that's pulling me in !
I figured as much! ;)

Thanks Beth! Wasn't sure how to respond, but I like being on the list and I am doing my darndest to be able to go:)
Keeping my fingers crossed for ya!

LOL! That gave me a good laugh!:laughing::laughing: Can't wait to see your creation! :scared1:

So where is the deal at for stones?
:hyper: By the way, I am not going to order Hotfix anymore for the tee shirts. Found out the hard way, they don't stick to the image printed on the tees. I ended up gluing all the stones on with Gemtack. The Hotfix stones adhered to the plain fabric super good, just not the image, which was practically the whole thing. LOL... :upsidedow
The last time I ordered was from Dreamtime Creations. They had the best deal then. :thumbsup2

I found the same thing with the hot fix stones - if it's not right on material, it doesn't stick to whatever the picture is (washes off way too easy - lost a lot of expensive stones and learned my lesson fast!)

You'll get to see my latest creation at the M&G :thumbsup2 Hopefully it turns out well. Most times the image I have in my head doesn't come out that well with my lack of talent :upsidedow ..... but it is fun to try! I just ordered a new hot fix applicator and got 720 AB 2 mm stones. These were on eBay though - they had some that were 99 cents for 720 stones

Just an FYI for those ladies who are eager to try the new Paradise Garden Grill, but will have to wait until our trip in February to do so.

I found two websites with some good pics to give you more of an idea what they offer. Yes, we've all read the menu, but I like a good visual to go along with it. ;)
So far, it all looks good to me! I'm excited we are getting to add new places to our schedule for Feb. :)

Click here for photos of PGG and a review posted on Babes in Disneyland

I'm really excited to try this new place - the skewers and Greek salad sound (and look!) so yummy! I *may* be persuaded to try just a smidge of baclava...... :rolleyes1

So I am planning to eat pretty healthy during our trip by cooking and making some meals in our room. If anyone is interested in joining me let me know! My DH says I am good cook...

Do you mean you're cooking lunch and dinner, as well as brekkie - or just brekkie?? I want to eat healthy-ish, but still enjoy some of the good stuff. I have to be pretty strict at home with my eating, so I find if I am *good* with breakfast, I can enjoy a little treat (nothing overboard, dang it).

Have fun and make sure you get one of those handmade candy canes!
I've heard about those and how people go nuts over them! I wonder if they are that good? I'm not much of a candy cane fan. :confused3

You want to eat healthy? LOL! What is that? OK....I understand. For breakfast, I bring my plain yogurt, granola and fruit. That is as far as I get!
I'll probably do the same for breakfast. Most days we are on our own for that anyway, so yogurt, a granola bar, etc sounds good.

Hey girl!

OMG, I read this and it was like some weird, foreign language to me. :rotfl2: I am so not crafty. :sad2:

Melody.....remind me again the name of the stones so I can fix my shirt please. So I want to use Gemtack to glue them on??

Hello ladies and happy Friday!

I have had quite the morning. I called DVC and was able to add on the extra couple of days we needed for our family portion of the trip in February. Woohoo!!!

We were originally planning on arriving late Wednesday evening so our DS wouldn't miss that day of school. Then we had the brilliant idea that one of us should fly in earlier that day to get the rental car and check in so we could get right to our room since it will be so late.

Then it evolved into DH arriving on Saturday and having an adult guys only trip before our family trip. One of his best friends has already committed. Hopefully they can get their other best friend to go so the three of them can relive the trip they a took together to DL 19 years ago for graduation.

I think DH is as excited about his boys only trip as I am about my girls only trip.

Now I just have to wait a few more days to be able to book my room.

Kandace

LOL That's cool! What a good idea. :thumbsup2

Heather, I went ahead and added your pic to the front page using the one you posted. (Had to crop Donny out though, sorry! ;) ) Let me know if that's okay, or if there's a different one you'd rather use.

And if there is anyone else who doesn't have their photo on the first page, just let me know and I'll add you. :)

Trudi - you really have to come for the M&G! This theme is so your thing, you just can't miss it. If you've never been to one, this should definitely be the one you make it for......... plus I know there'll be a lot of fun Divas there and yummy goodies...... and we'll all get to see you too :thumbsup2 It's a win-win and super fun!!

This past trip was my first M&G. It was a blast ! I'm leaning more towards going than not going.:cheer2:

Jen, did you see the last chance to sign up for the Half in September through Get Travel? I guess they still have some race entries available.

What is this leaning nonsense?? You're going. Period. See, aren't you glad you have us here to make your decisions for you?? :rotfl2:

The only thing you have to do now is find something creative and wonderful to wear that night. :thumbsup2

That's a challenge I'm still working on....... It might take me awhile. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Hi ladies. :wave2:

I'm not all that fond of flying either, but I do it because the need to get somewhere is stronger than my fear of death.

I used to love to fly until I was about 25 years old and had a very bad experience. Justin (hubby), myself, and my brother were flying home one night from Salt Lake. It was dark out (so we had no perspective outside of the plane) and we experienced violent turbulence throughout the flight (it was very windy). After being in the air for about an hour while continuously bouncing around, the plane suddenly dropped from beneath us. If kinda felt like when the elevator drops on the TOT and you fly out of your seat, except the plane just kept falling for several seconds with it's nose down and fast. I thought we were going down for sure....that this was the end....finito....lights out....and actually we were going down. Luckily for us the pilot regained control of the plane. He soon came on the loud speaker to explain to us that we had just dropped 10,000 feet in altitude due to extreme wind sheer coming over the mountains, which pushed our plane straight down with it. When we finally landed in Spokane, every passenger stood up and gave the pilot a standing ovation, because seriously, if it wasn't for his quick thinking and amazing pilot skills, we all would have perished that night.

I figure that most people don't ever have a close call on a flight, and since I actually had one, chances are virtually nill that I'll ever experience another one. So everyone should fly with me I guess to ensure that they'll have a safe fight - haha. :goodvibes

How is the job search going Capri?

It's depressing (sigh). :sad2:

I'm trying to stay positive though. Trying. :rolleyes1

I think my resume looks/reads great, but then, what do I know. If anyone here wants to take a look at my electronic resume portfolio website, let me know and I can PM you a link. I could use all the pointers I can get. :thumbsup2

Okay, I have to say my hat is off to you for trying to be healthy while at Disney and cooking in your room! :worship: :worship:
I am weak, with no will power, and simply could not go to DL and resist the draw of pomme frites, corn dogs, loaded baked potato soup, and of course I can't wait to try the Hungry Bear sandwich. And I have to have a Mickey rice krispy treat. Nope, no will power at all. :sad2: Oh, and the sourdough soup bowl. Gosh, it's pathetic how much I look forward to Disney's food!!

 *gasp*!! Did you say you hate Pooh?????

I thought I was the only one!!! :lmao: Maybe hate is too strong a word, but I honestly have never been a Winnie-the-Pooh fan. It's more like I could take it or leave it. The whole story and the characters never appealed to me very much. :confused3
:lmao: I will ATTEMPT to eat healthy. I still have some group meals on my plan, but the meals where I don't - I will be cooking in the room or packing a delicious turkey and avocado sandwich! Yeah, Pooh annoys me....I just can't quite figure out why, maybe it is the ignorance he has.

Not every meal, but some :)

Jen, did you see the last chance to sign up for the Half in September through Get Travel? I guess they still have some race entries available.
:woohoo: Thanks for the heads up! I will check it out!

That made me want to cry! I have been in a similar scary plane situation. I get pretty anxious myself, but the short flight to SoCal is never bad so I can handle it.

Mel~ I will pm you the link to the tutorial :)

Sweet, then you know it's a good time. The fun plus the cool theme = yes to the M&G :thumbsup2

So Carousel will be $109 + tax per night for our Diva's that stay there; and just like this year, each room will get two free breakfast sandwiches per day (these come in voucher form). We will get the party room free when we have Quizno's cater. I hope that helps ladies!

Jen - I tried to book a room at the Carousel today, but they said we couldn't do that yet because they don't have the signed contract back yet. I guess you have that then??

Afternoon all. Just got back from the fair. Wow what an ordeal that was. Katy is beside herself but I am still proud of her.

We got there bright and early and it was a PERFECT day to go and time to go. Hardly anyone there and the weather was great. We were able to walk into and onto everything and so and do pretty much everything we wanted to do including eat lunch within the first few hours.

Finally it was time to go to the judging and I was so nervous for Katy I thought I was going to faint. I had NO idea what to expect and it seemed no one else knew for sure either. Finally the Emcee came out and he was super nice and he explained how it worked and then asked if there was anyone new which of course Katy was and she was the only one so he made a big deal over her and then asked who was the longest participant and there was a gal who had been entering for over 35 years!

Anyway they brought out the judges and luckily they had two dedicated just to the kids stuff. They started with the little ones and I got pretty excited because eventhough several of them had a few flaws they were giving them all 1st places!!

Then it got to Katy's age group and I don't know if they were harder on them because of the age or what but the gal who was Katy's judge was REALLY going over her's with a fine tooth comb and was writing a ton of stuff and sure enough she got 3rd! Up to this point there were ALL 1sts even in the adult categories and NO 2nd's had even been awarded much less any 3rds. It was quite the let down! Katy was really upset. She said that there was not too much headspace (or space between the lid and the jam) and that the fruit had all risen to the top ie not ENOUGH fruit) but that the color and texture were good. I don't even remember if she said it tasted good but she said it was cooked ok. I have to say I felt bad for Katy as well because I had gone into it hoping she got ANYTHING but then after seeing EVERYONE getting 1st places and her being the only one to not even get 2nd but get 3rd was pretty dissapointing. I was glad she didn't get disqualified!! There were a few of those after a bit and she was so bummed we finally just left.

We originally were supposed to stay and meet up with mom and Shane but she just wanted to go. I kept trying to tell her that I was proud of her and it was her first try but she was really bummed. I am pretty nervous now about her pickles because I don't know about them either. They had some things I think the judges could get picky about too and just really not sure. At this point I hope she at least gets a 3rd and not dq'd!

But we won't know now till probably after the fair since they will post results but probably not for awhile and we will be gone.

But it was a learning experience and next year she wants to try baking something so we shall see.

I am just glad to be home and wish we didn't have a meet tomorrow. I am just ready for our trip!! :)

I can understand her disappointment. Even as an adult I have been disappointed. One year I decorated a three foot christmas tree with all the ornaments made out of seashells. I wasn't disappointed because i was expecting first (I think I got second or third) but the person who got first had the same snowman ornament all over her tree with different colored scarves and hats. It is hard to know what the judges are looking for. The person who judged mine said it should have been more colorful. I used gold as my accent colors. The best part was me and my friend hung around the area for a while and more people stopped and looked at my trees than the others. I remember a guy in his early twenties reaching over the rope and touching the ornaments. Another year I entered my Cinderella collection and received second place. I was happy with that because there were lots of collection but I still have never figured out how things are judged. We went to the fair this year and there were some things we wondered why it didn't win enything and others why it was chosen

But it is fun to enter it is good that she still wants to enter. Have a fun and safe trip

This is to Katy, Kellys daughter. You did great to get 3rd place. You were a first time exhibitor. Best of all you "Earned" the ribbon. I would hang that up in Kitchen or in your room and show it off with "PRIDE". I would be so proud that I entered, that I placed, and that I did something very few people ever do. (There are lots of people that don;t even know how to make jam.)

I sure hope she enters next year. She knows now what the judge is looking for.

Next year enter lots of exhibits. Don't quit now --you are on a roll. You are a winner in my book for just entering -- placing makes it better.

Patty

Heading off to Montana bright and early tomorrow. Get to spend the week at my parents house. I haven't seen them since June last year so I'm real excited to see them. Lots of four wheeling and hiking in our future. DS flew over there last Friday and I'm excited to see him and hear about all of his adventures.

Have a good night everyone!

OMG, reading that almost brought tears to my eyes. It scares me just thinking about it!! :sad2:

Here's a cheer-up, good luck hug for you and your job search.

Okay, as long as your going to be bad with us during some of the meals. ;) And I love turkey and avocado. One of my fave sandwiches.

Afternoon all. Just got back from the fair. Wow what an ordeal that was. Katy is beside herself but I am still proud of her.
Aww, I said it on Facebook, but I'll say it again.... Katy you did great!!!! :cheer2: Be proud and keep at it! :cheer2: :thumbsup2

Nighty night, ladies!

Morning all. We are off to our LAST meet of the year!! After yesterday Katy didn't even want to go :( but I told her she can't let her team down and up till the fair she was doing really well in practice on her fly and I said swim is what you love and you can't let one dissapointment ruin everything else for you. Plus my parents are FINALLY coming so I told her she needs to go so they can watch her swim!

I really appreciate everyone's support. It is so hard as a parent to watch your kids work so hard and then be dissapointed. Cooking/baking is her passion and she has said she has wanted to be a chef since she was a little kid. She has probably 50 cookbooks and she reads them like books LOL. She sits and just looks at all the pictures and dreams about her "restaurant" but she is also a very emotional kid who easily gets upset so it is hard and I was afraid she might get upset. Honestly I was afraid she wouldn't get anything at all but I admit it was tough because after seeing SO many kids get 1st place and then to be the only one to get 3rd and then to have the judge say so many negative things about her jam in front of all those people it was pretty disheartening. I kept telling her that it was our first time and none of had ever canned before so we were new to this whole thing but trying to tell a kid that is hard because they think they did their best and she saw all these younger kids getting 1st places and the judges were going on and on about how they were perfect scores etc. I felt so bad for her but I just kept reminding her that maybe those kids had been doing it for longer or probably their mom's helped them and they probably were good at it etc etc. We were really newbies at this whole thing LOL. I really fear that her pickles won't do too well either. The headspace thing was really confusing. It said we had to leave 1/4 inch on the jam and a 1/2 inch on the pickles but mom thought it was from the bottom of the rings on the lid but I think it was from the top. So I think we have too much again in the pickles and that can lead to air getting in and thus bacteria over time etc and they can dq you for that. Plus we used small cucumbers and they didn't fill the jar and were floating and they are supposed to settle so I don't know if they will ding her for that. I wish I could be at that show too just to hear the feedback. It was actually pretty interesting to be at the judging and hear what they had to say. Also when the judge said what was wrong with Katy's jam the emcee then asked how she could fix that in the future and they tell you. But as Patty said it is all a learning experience and although we MAY try one more jam next year now that we kind of know more what to expect I think she wants to stick to baking. It is DEF easier to do although a LOT more competition. That one is not broken into age groups but rather she would have to compete against the entire group 5-19. But I agree with you Patty. I think she is going to enter more things to give herself a little better chances. :)

Anyway we are off to the meet here in a few and then when I get home I have to do some mad last minute packing and then tomorrow bright and early we are off!

I MAY check in one last time before we leave tomorrow but otherwise I will be back on the 26th or 27th. I will try to give FB updates but not sure if my phone will work.

Have a great next week and see everyone soon!! :)
