Ghost Hunters Thread & Personal Ghost Experiences & other Paranormal Talk.

Took a tour in Salem once. The guide happened to be the daughter of our librarian and with her was another guide who ahd come originally from Ireland. Her name was Maura. Anyway we went to a bunch of places mostly related to Salem Witchcraft Trials and then to one house that had been the telephone company and then to a house that was some sort of a survey firm If you know Salem center it is the big brick house nxt to Dunkin "Donuts. Anyway Maura would not go on the land for the house. She walked around the corner and stood on the sidewalk. The librarian's daughter told me later that when they were rehersing for the speel of the tour they were sitting on the wall of the driveway of the house. Maura was suddenly propelled off the wall and onto the ground. They thought she was kidding or somethign but she was white and crying . She said the entity did not want her there. She did not tell this to the tour only me. Maura felt that she was not wanted and stayed away from the house. I look at that house every time I go by I ahve seen photos in the shape of a black shadow woman. It scares me.

I had done lots of resarch on Salem for a couple of term papers when in HS and college. I always wanted to know where gallows hill was but no one would tell me. Once I finally got a police man to give me directons and we went there (DH and I). It is now a park with lots of swings etc. It is terraced and at the top of the hill are tons of houses. So picture at the bottom of the hill is a park and then a kind of wooded path and then the houses at the top which are NOT accessble from the park but from a street on the other side. We decided to walk the hill and I felt an eerie feeling. They are not sure it is the actual hill but walking to the path toward the top I imagined what it must be like to have to travel it to my death. Anyway, I am on the path and suddenly a tinly little bunny comes out of the woods and stops and looks me straight in the eye and just stares at me. It was weird b/c he was so small and he was not afraid of us. He just kind of stared us down and then turned in his own time and hopped away (and not in a hurry). I know that the rabbits one of the animals involved in the Pagan religion and Wicca. I found it kind of strange. The strange part was that really we were smack dab in the middle of a city and suddenly a baby bunny shows up and stares me down? While the Salem Witchcraft Trials were really not related to witchcraft I found it ironic that this animal was there between houses, basketball court and swing sets. If you go to Salem you can go to Gallows Hill Park but all of the people in the know who I talked to said not to go at night. They said it was a bad place. No one would tell me why but I assume it is bad in the sense of gangs hanging out there but who knows.

DD and I have been listening to the EVPs on the site I posted above.

WOW

Also recently I met a teenager that works with a paranormal group about 30 miles from here. I will have to try to find their info. The only thing I remember is that North East is in the name. Must be NE metro something, because I don't think they were far enough east to be considered NE GA.

Did I post about our recent experience in Savannah? Which reminds me I still need to email the tour guide for a copy of a pic of DD with orbs in an arc around her head.

We were on a ghost tour with the girl scout troop.
Nothing eventful until we were at the end of the tour, just a couple of houses down from the Juliet Gordon Low home. the house had belonged to her uncle and has been empty for decades.

The guide told us a story about a tour guide from just a few yrs ago.
Prior to this there were no documented happenings at this house, but that it always has an uneasy feel to it.
Someone was taking the tour guide's picture with a digital camera while she was rapping up the tour. There was a clear image in one of the pics of a "shadow man" standing behind her on the steps. She took one look at the pciture, looked at the group and said "I don't know about you guys but I am leaving". She ran down the road and never came back to work.

DD went and stood in the spot where the shadow appeared and got a really weird feeling.
Well to back up a bit, for those who don't know, I'm wiccan. I've dabbled in various things swuch as Tarot, Scrying etc. When DD was about 5 she picked up a pendulum at a friends house and started scrying without ever seeing it done.

anyway back to the story.
DD said she felt like someone was trying to talk to her. I mentioned that it was too bad she didn't have a pendulum with her. We decided to give it a try with a water bottle on a strap.
The guide started snapping away pics while DD was scrying. I heard him gasp and we ran down to see what he got. There was a pic with a perfect arc of orbs around her head/upper body.
She never did scry anymore, it was running late and he had to get back to meet up with his next group.

I find evps particularly scary.

I live about 10 minutes from
http://www.historicghost.com/HellsChurch.html
and grew up just a couple of miles from it.
My dad and I used to walk a nature trail that went right by the church.
It always had a strange feeling to it. I've heard the Satan worship stories, but I don't think I heared them until the incident in 1990. I don't believe I've been out there since the eqarly 80's when the woods the trail was in were cut down to to build houses.

ETA: A friend goes to haunted places and old cemetaries. I'll check and see if I can share the link to her photos. She has shots of Hell's Church and several other haunted sites in GA. Recently I expresed an interested in going with her, but she's had too much going on lately.

I'm checking out that site now, I'm working up the courage to listen to the EVP's!

Oh the irony and right after I told you all about me&basements earlier.

I went downstairs a few minutes ago :laundy: and as I'm coming up the stairs there was a HUGE bang down there. A stack of boxes/plastic containers tipped over and crashed to the floor. :scared1: :faint: At least I'm assuming that's what happened because I'm NOT going back down there tonight to find out. I don't think I even touched the stairs coming back up.

Once my heart starts up again I have to go change my undies.

hi everyone. That was pretty strange with the posts and quotes all messed up a few pages back, but at least it was happening all over the boards, not just this thread.

LOL When that was happening the other night I was blaming your aunt because you had just posted about your computer messing up after her passing.
Wow! Y'all got some good stories the last few days. I'm caught up reading now.
I'm late to the conversation about movies but I'll chime in anyway. I don't like the fake movies either. I agree that they're not really scary because they're just not real. I used to like to watch them when I was younger but I just can't anymore. I love The Others and The Sixth Sense though. Those ones seem to me to be the closest to what it's really like.

My funny story.

Oldest DD is now almost 20 and this happened last summer. She still sleeps in the room where she says she saw he little girl in white years ago.

So around 3am she comes into my bedroom and wakes me up. She says "mom I'm getting really scared because I can hear a little girl crying for her daddy and it sounds close to me" so I get up and go in her room. I stand in the middle of it and hear nothing, I'm just about to leave when I hear the drying and a little voice crying "daddy, daddy " and "daddy I need you"

well my heart jumoed into my throat and I'm really really scared...then I start to think rationally and go stand by her window..nothing, then there it is again..so I open the window and sure enough, it is coming from the neighbors house. The little girl that sleeps in the downstairs bedroom right across the driveway was crying and I guess we could hear her but her own dad couldn't. Her bedroom window was open but ours are closed because we have central air.

DD and I had a good laugh about how fraked out we both got before we realized where it was coming from. I swear we were both thinking it was the little girl from years ago.

Oh I missed this one when I was posting. You poor thing! My goodness dear! You need some of this.:grouphug: :rotfl:

I love both of those. The Others was one that really had a surprise ending..I can usually guess how things will end, that one I couldn't.

Yes you are right about the two movies you mentioned. I did not really find them a scary. As I said my benchmark for scary is Exorcist. I will say it agian watch the director's cut. Gives a whole new scarier twist to it.

No, I don't think The Others or Sixth Sense are scary either. I just like them because they're so real even though they're not based on an actual event.
I haven't seen the Exorcist in years. I did really like it when I saw it. I've never seen it on DVD though so I haven't seen any extras.
Nancy, my DH still doesn't get the ending of the Others. He got that the servants were ghosts but he still doesn't get that Nicole Kidman and the kids were ghosts.

That's funny...I thought it was pretty obvious at the end!

I can't watch the Exorcist..even the music from it gives me the willies. I started to read the book years ago (when it first came out) and it scared me so bad I had to stop and I threw it out. It affected me in a really bad way. I don't even really like remembering anything about it even now.

sha lyn, what is scrying? I know I've heard of it but I can't think right now of what it is.

I never saw it, only clips of it. That was enough for me. Someone said earlier the 'real' kid is a boy? I didn't know it was based on fact. :scared1: Now I KNOW I'll never watch it.

That's just the way my DH is and you can't get him to see it no matter what. I love to watch the movie but not if he's home. He just spoils it with his dumb remarks.

My kids don't like our basement at all. They go down there because they have to for laundry but they don't like it at all. We have shop lights down there and one day (when DH isn't home of course) we hear a loud crash from down there. And of course Mom gets to be brave and go see what happened. I go into the basement and 2 of the long flourescent tubes came out of the light fixture and went crashing to the floor. I have no clue how they came out because when you put them in you have to slide them in and then twist them to lock them in place. Possibly vibrations might loosen them but 2 at the same time?

So the kids go down to do their laundry and they turn on every single light there is down there...even ones no where close to where they will be. What I find strange about the basement is my older cat refuses to go down there. I'll leave the door open and she'll come down about 5 steps and then just sits there and cries. The other one comes down but doesn't stay all that long.

Wow he needs some serious training! EVEN I got that one !

I said it. It was a boy and
his mom was an actress. WARD you have to try to watch it. After all you are our leader b/c you started this thread and it is like GH 101. It is part of your education! :happytv: :rotfl:
