Ghost Hunters Thread & Personal Ghost Experiences & other Paranormal Talk.

My kids don't like our basement at all. They go down there because they have to for laundry but they don't like it at all. We have shop lights down there and one day (when DH isn't home of course) we hear a loud crash from down there. And of course Mom gets to be brave and go see what happened. I go into the basement and 2 of the long flourescent tubes came out of the light fixture and went crashing to the floor. I have no clue how they came out because when you put them in you have to slide them in and then twist them to lock them in place. Possibly vibrations might loosen them but 2 at the same time?

So the kids go down to do their laundry and they turn on every single light there is down there...even ones no where close to where they will be. What I find strange about the basement is my older cat refuses to go down there. I'll leave the door open and she'll come down about 5 steps and then just sits there and cries. The other one comes down but doesn't stay all that long.

Hey that reminds me, my basement looks like the one in Silence of the Lambs. Anyway I have had two dogs and neither of them will go down stairs in the basement. My house is an old Victorian. My first dog would run when we tried to get him down there and the one I have now will go no where near the steps.

sha lyn, what is scrying? I know I've heard of it but I can't think right now of what it is.

Have you seen the wedding band or needle on a string "trick" to see if someone that is PG is going to have a boy or girl? that's the type I'm talking about. Using a some type of weight on the end of a string or chain.
It also can refer to looking into a mirror (usually a black mirror)or other reflective surface (crystal ball, water etc). I believe that reading tea leaves is also sometime included. I would say that however typically scrying is now used more often to refer to pendulum scrying or other means of comunicating with ghosts, spirits, energies etc. Looking into a reflective surface is typically called gazing.

I guess you could even say in some ways pendulum scrying is similar to a Ouija board. You cna use a board, or just use the weight and let the direction of the movement answer the questions

Haven't read all the way through, but this looks like a good explination

I said it. It was a boy and
his mom was an actress. WARD you have to try to watch it. After all you are our leader b/c you started this thread and it is like GH 101. It is part of your education! :happytv: :rotfl:

I'll gladly hand over the crown and septor for the thread. ;) I can't handle those demonic type movies. I don't even like to type the 'D' word. Give me a regular old ghost any day or that evil stuff. :thumbsup2

good night. I'm going to 'try' to sleep now. ;)

Our cats are like that with our upstairs. The older one used to go up there all the time. He always used to stay up there with us all night every night and sleep on our feet. He had a bad incident up there once though and he won't go back up there. I wasn't up there but I heard him come tumbling down the steps. It sounded like it was literaly head over heels. When he hit the wood floor at the bottom of the steps he skidded across it and around the corner and down to the basement. He didn't come out of the basement for several hours and he hasn't been back upstairs on his own since then. I've tried to take him up but he he fights to get out of my arms and scoots back downstairs ASAP. I used to complain about him sleeping on my feet but now I miss it.
That happened a few years ago. We have another cat now and she goes upstairs all the time. We also have a ghost cat in the house sometimes. We don't get it often but I've seen it at times when it's definately not our two living cats and sometimes it jumps up on the bed with us when we know where the other two are.
Oh yeah, and back when the incident happened to Stupid (That's the older cats name. Long story. ) I did not go check to see what it was that scared him so bad.:upsidedow

Just catching up, but Bella, the exorcist is based on a true story? :scared1:

And didn't the demon come through from a Ouiji board?

Seriously, does anything good come from those things? :confused3

I've heard really strange stories about them over the yrs. Got really weirded out by one as a teenager when I got a "spirit" saying it was the brother of a friend. They had moved away a few yrs before and we lost touch. The friend I was doing the board with had never met the friend or her brother. to this day I have no idea if
the brother actually died or what, but the board spelled out his name and his sisters name.

I'm just guessing here, but I think that it (the bad happenings invovlving a Ouija board) has to do with some people being able to draw in the energy, but they don't know how to get rid of it.

IE...I joined a mothers/womens spiritual group that is all pagan, but I am the only Wiccan. Most of the others study Native American traditions. I had to stop gong because they were stirring up energies and didn't know how to ground them.

I just read an email this morning about their meeting last night. Aparently nto long after leaving the youngest child that lives in the hosue htey were in started crying (he's 11) and couldn't explain to his mother what was worng. He jsut said all of a sudden he was very sad and couldn't stop crying. The mom ended up smudging the entire house, although the meeting was in her basement and the 2 women leading it said they had cleansed the area.

I don't know if you read my story about it, but is that why the entire time I used it - there was something (chills, energy, whatever - tough to explain) that ran continuously up and down my spine?

YEs it is. I was young when it came out but you were probably not even alive! Trust me if you watch it the priest who plays the piano and is Fr. Damien's friend is a real priest. There were a couple of them in it. I bet if you go on line you would find the back story.

I'm older than you think ;) .

You are right about people drawing energy but I think that when the board gives info it tries to trick you. I found when I used it that was the case. The only person I used it with was an aunt and she was very, very, very, conservative. There was no way she would play with the planchette and it did tell us some things. I can tell you the planchette took off on its own and I could put one finger on it and it would turn in circles. I had no and I mean NO idea what it could do or meant. Remember spiritualism and new age ideas were NOT discussed and were in fact just pooh, poohed.

It does sound like you tapped into something, but it could have been something that was already there that you were sensitive to.
I believe that some are just naturally able to pull in/tap into the energies that aren't already "open". The board, a pendulum etc IMHO are only tools.
Since DD seems to be such a natural, I really need to start teaching her how to ground and protect whenever she feels something.

That reminds me of a friend who was having some really strange things happen at her house. Just lots of negative feelings/energy. At first she though it was being projected from their neighbor, but I think she eventually felt her neighbor might be feeding off the negative energy. A couple that we are friends with went over to her house. Not long after they got home the husband told his wife that he had felt the negative energy and some of it had followed them home. Luckily they both know how to deal with it.
The friend with the "negative" house tried everything, smudging, salt water etc. She eventually had Buddhist monks come cleanse and bless the home.
Things have really improved since then.

If "you're" sensitive to such things and continually try to ignore them - will they eventually go away?

I just see things such as Ouiji boards as a tool. IMHO the tricking was being done by whatever energy/entity was present. However I feel a Ouija board or other "tool" makes it easier for contact (for lack of a better word) to be made between the physical world/person and the energies/entities etc.

I agree but when you do not know what you are doing it opens up things or attracts things you do NOT want to attract. I bet you could do it with a plain old piece of paper and some sort of planchette that can slide. It is not the board per se.

Ok, I have a really off the wall question, but what the hay - we passed "off the wall" a looonnng time ago.

Are cats or other animals truly sensitive to sensitive people? The reason I ask is that DH and I joke about it. Mainly because I'm allergic to cats. We have two of them in the house and that's ok, but if I touch them, My eyes will itch forever. So, I don't touch them or feed them, yet they follow me everywhere. Weird everywhere. LIke if I'm sleeping in on a weekend, DH will close our door and they'll be laying against it on the other side just waiting for me to get up. They're with me constantly. Even if I go to bed late - they follow me up - and they're not allowed to sleep with me. They watch me brush my teeth, wait for me outside the shower. Weird.

Just wondering because it really is kinda funny. Oh, and it's not just these cats - it's been every one.

I would say yes and no LOL.
I guess I would say it just really depends in the person and what they are exposed to.

ITA....See the above about the women that left all the negative energy behind in a friends house.
A good comparrison would be Ouija board=paint by numbers where a couple of mundane objects ,say the water bottle DD used, or something as simple as a pencil on a smooth surface so that it can spin (think spin the bottle)= a blank canvas and a pallete of paints.
My feeling is that something such as a Ouija board makes it easier for us to access the part of us that can open up/feel or comunicate with energies.

I believe so.
I can see it working a couple of different ways.
They are sensitve to the difference in you...ie like animals that can predict when an owner is about to have seizure, or animals that have found cancer etc.
Or they are feeling the energy that you are stirring up. Instead of feeling it come from you, they are feeling whatever you are drawing to you.

 Ok, so I can sleep tonight - can you explain this a little better.

OKAY let it be known now that I am drawing ONLY positive energy....do you hear me POSITIVE!

Ok, so it could be positive energy - I like that. But how do you draw only positive - does it have to do with your outlook on life, because mine's pretty positive...I'm definately an optimist. :confused3

But I get it - Positive.:thumbsup2
