Getting Around from VWL

I just read a couple of threads about BWV vs VWL. I love the Boardwalk area and I'm going to try and stay there in January. However when push comes to shove I'd rather be at Peace & Quiet and use Disney transport to get to the corner of Hustle & Bustle.

That said...how can you do it without using a bus? Specifically the 3 hubs of MK, DD, BWV/YC/BC/Epcot/MGM....I'm guessing the only way to AKL is by bus. And...how do you get to the hotel area just off DD as well as all the way up to the Crossroads.

We just returned from our first trip 'home' to VWL. There are buses running to all areas from the Lodge, which also stop at GF and the Poly, then onto wherever (except the Epcot bus, which is a direct, non-stop run from WL). Though buses are probably the primary form of transportation, they are definitely not the only option available. There is a lovely boat ride from the Lodge to the Magic Kingdom and back, which we took advantage of more than once. You can also catch the bus from WL and get off at either the GF or Poly. From there, you can either take the monorail to Epcot, walk to MK or take the monorail to TTC and connect to the other parks. We always used our car to go to Downtown Disney and the Crossroads area, so I can't be of much help to you there. I know there are buses to DD, but I don't know how you'd get to the Crossroads. When our boys were at VWL in June, our oldest developed swimmers' ear and needed to get to the walk-in clinic by Crossroads. He was told he could take the bus to DD and walk from there, or take a cab from the Lodge. I'm assuming that's about it for off-site. Overall, the transportation from WL was most satisfactory for us, just make sure you allow plenty of time to get around.
