Gettin Tossed from the Pool

Becca I almost spit my mouthfull of soda all over the place. LMFAO!!!!!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I mean really why can't I crank Kid Rock up at the pool? :confused3

I get kicked out of WDW pools repeatedly.

Reasons I was given for being asked to leave:

hitting other people's children
farting too much in the hot tub
cursing loudly to myself and others
fighting
being too drunk (seriously can you ever be too drunk?)
dunking others under the water for long periods of time (both family members and complete strangers)
slapping the lifeguard and stealing his whistle and hotdog (red flotation device)
trying to eat the lifeguard's red flotation device
climbing the volcano at the Poly pool (nude)
allowing my children to smoke in the pool (hey, they are 10 and 11, plenty old enough to not burn anyone)
urinating in the bushes
bringing my dog, he laid a big one on the squirting fountain at the beach pool at the GF (his name is booger, cute right?)
throwing up ( I guess you can be too drunk)
giving beer out of my rolling cooler to minors (some parents are soooo overprotective)
playing inappropriate music loudly from my rolling cooler (yeah it has a radio) (I also think "I'm On a Boat" by Lonely Planet is completely appropriate for all ages)

Anyhoo, it seems that those Disney people don't know how to have fun! They will throw you out for anything! Ridiculous!

BTW I'm totally Kidding! In case any of you thought I was serious. I've done all of those things at Disney pools and have never gotten kicked out! LOL! Just Kidding again!

:lmao::rotfl::lmao:

Its not that common to be asked. But let me tell you, having to do the Pooh Hoppers Walk of Shame if you get kicked out looks might embarrassing. So I don't recommend it. And if you do and a disboarder is there keeping tabs, God help you!

I think it is getting MUCH more common. We have been going to WDW for 17 years, several times a year (we live in North Florida). I never noticed any pool police the first 12 or so years.

But lately - last 5 years or so - I have seen room keys checked at BWI, Poly, CR, WL and of course BC. Haven't seen it at any moderate, but I'm sure it happens. We saw people asked to leave at Poly and CR. At CR it was people that came over from Fort Wilderness on the boat, wearing their bathing suits - they apparently look for "boat people" now. We've been asked ourselves to show a room key at BC, Poly, and AKL (we always take them with us so no problem).

And I think anyone who isn't a resort guest fully deserves the Walk of Shame!

nope never ever have I been asked to show my rm card or saw anyone else get kicked out for pool hopping...our fav place is AKL and we have never been given a braclet or been asked to show we should be there.I do not see the fun of pool hopping (to much work) BUT I also have no problem with it.I could care less if another wdw guest comes to the pool to swim.:flower3:

Of course, I don't mind NOT pool hopping...however, I would be annoyed if only I had my room key and/or dh did and they sent the rest of our family packing (at our own resort) because we didn't have all of our keys with us.

If they are requiring all members of a party to have their KTTW on them at all times while at the pool area they should give printed notice and/or verbal notice of that at check in and post it in the rooms/near the pool area.

We have four kids (all under 12) and there is no way I would let them carry there own room keys (with tickets on them) to the pool. I see no need for all six of us to carry room keys if we are all together. It only takes one of our cards to charge drinks/snacks at the pool and then open our room door once we are done.

Most of the time, dh and I do both carry our KTTW cards but I have never carried my kids' cards along with us while out and about at our resort. I don't carry their cards with us at all unless we are going to a park. I see no reason.

And once again, when Disney makes a 'real' rule that they post/inform me of, I will comply. Until that time, I would find it rude for Disney (or any other company) to make me run back up to my room to dig out some keys that they should have told me to bring in the first place if they wanted me to have them available for checking. Some of our rooms have been a long walk from the various pool areas.

I have no idea if this is the 'real' policy at SAB as we have never stayed at the YC or BC. If it is the posted policy there, I would comply.

More to the point of the original question, no, I have never been asked to show my resort id (with stays at the GF, AKL, Poly, CR, CSR, ASMovies and the WL).

Becca, that post was hilarious! :rotfl2:

I've stayed in the Epcot resorts and WL and AKL and was never asked to show my room key. (Only at BC, but we're not counting that one!)

The "real" rule is posted at every single resort pool sign on property - where it says "for use of the __________ guests only". How else are the lifeguards supposed to know if you are if you don't have your room key?

So it's already the real rule at all the resorts. As to whether they would make you produce keys for your young children that are obviously with you and you have you card, that is debatable. It probably depends on the mood of the lifeguard that day, or how you answer him/her if they ask to see your card. And they are stricter at SAB than anywhere else on property.

I suspect we were targeted because we were obviously hopping - we are DVC members and were at the Poly pool. We came straight from the park in our park clothes - changed in the bathroom - had all our stuff with us. We needed both our room key and our blue DVC member card - but with them both we were fine.

We've also needed wristbands at SAB, but it was so long ago I don't know if we were asked to show ID or if I just went up and showed ID and got wristbands.

We got carded at WL in June. They were going around the pool asking to see your KTTW.

I think people were complaining because the pool was packed and there was no seating. I know I just tossed our stuff on the ground because there were no seats.

I watched one group leave but they were on the other side of the pool so I don't know if they left because they didn't belong or because they were tired of the crowd and wanted to go back to their room.
Normally I don't notice but I was scanning for a chair. LOL

We were at the Contemporary for a week last July, used the pool almost every day, and never got questioned at all. :confused3

Of course, we spent a lot of our time at the "water spouts" -- and who in their right mind would hassle these little angels about anything?...

And who in their right mind would hassle the mother of toddling twins? - she's likely to bite your head off from exhaustion. (Very cute children).

Yes, I agree it's a 'real' rule that it's for the use of that resorts guests only. I don't disagree with you one bit. And I also see how having your resort card is the one sure fire way for them to know if you are staying there or not...however, I think it's wrong to REQUIRE all guests to have their cards on their person at all times if you don't inform them of this first. It's the 'that's debatable' part that they need to improve on.

If my young children will be required (at any point, for any reason) to have their KTTW cards with us while swimming then Disney should point that out PRIOR to me schelping four children down to the pool to swim. Again, add it to the printed info in the room, mention it at check in, hand it to me in my paper work at check in, have that (the need for all resort guests to be able to produce room keys at all times) posted at the pools. Until the point Disney does that, I will still continue to think it's rude to ask my children to vacate the pool area until they can 'prove' they are resort guests (when I am saying I am their mother and have my own card).

I think of it along the same lines of the rule being that you must be ages 3-9 to use a children's ticket at the parks. That is the rule but Disney doesn't require you to carry your child's certified birth certificate/passport to get in with a children's ticket. If they did ask me for proof, I would find it rude...unless they clearly notified me before our park visit that I would be required to cough up proof. If you are going to start demanding proof for things where you never required proof before it is good business and only fair that you inform people PRIOR to requiring it. How would people feel if they were told that their child could not enter MK using a children's ticket without a birth certificate (with no prior warning of that sort of proof now being required)? That is the way I would feel about my children being denied access to the pool while with me (or my dh) who are KTTW card carrying resort guests (at that resort).

I don't think our family is very unique in the fact that we don't want to lose our kids cards and I stand by my assertion that I would be offended after over a dozen trips if on our next one my family was asked to leave the pool until every single one of us could produce our KTTW cards. UNLESS Disney tells me it is required beforehand. Sorry, I don't mean to be argumentative and I realize I might be in the minority for feeling this way. This is just how I feel.

You need to give your room number at the Dolphin's Grotto Pool to receive towels. I always have my key with me and in my hand when I pick up our towels.

When we were teenagers, pool hopping was actually a "perk" for staying "onsite"... I'm dating myself,:hippie: but we stayed at Fort Wilderness and swam at River Country one day, the Poly pool one day, and the Contemporary pool another day. All "legally".. :goodvibes

Thank you! (But I'm actually the Dad... ;))
